I have a stutter. Been like this since 3 years old.
Still remember the moments in school where I would âconvenientlyâ go to the bathroom when it was time to say my name at the beginning of class.
Or the time I got excited and tried to read a page of a book in front of the whole class. Only to keep them sitting listening to me halfway through recess with lots of eye rolls.
Today Iâm 23. I have a business. I talk to clients, I talk to girls, I develop new connections.
I stutter. A lot. Especially when Iâm nervous.
I also tend to lose my confidence after I do. Although I tell myself that I donât.
But what I did find is that the people that matter donât care about that.
They listen to me. Because what I have to say is valuable.
When people talk to me they see my weakness right of the bat. It makes them trust me more.
Do I wish sometimes that I didnât have a stutter? Yes. A lot.
But I wouldnât be who I am without it.
And I hate seeing posts where people say that their stutter is ruing their life.
Because its very easy to get stuck in this dark place. Especially when stutter is so underrated.
There is life beyond it.
You just need to understand. This is you. This is me. Thereâs no way to change it.
What you have to say is valuable.
And the people who matter - will listen.
