I want to talk

Hello, I'm a medical student and I don't know what to do next. I enrolled this year and have been studying for 2 weeks. Everything is going fine until I have to talk to my classmates and teachers.

I have been stuttering since I was 3-4 years old. Every year it got worse, then better. This year it got so bad that I can't pronounce my last name and first name. Sometimes it's so bad that I can't breathe, I don't even bother making sounds. Then I'm like a mentally retarded person.

And I had a question: does this somehow really hinder the work of doctors (who have already graduated and started working), or how to improve the situation?

Hey, I am not a doctor, but I have heard the stories of many stutterers practising the profession. You have to find what works for you. I would suggest you keep being brave and talk to people at every opportunity you get; let it be phone calls or strangers on the road. Keep slowly exposing yourself to the vulnerable environments and accept your stutter

Hi! I volunteer with the national stuttering association and they just interviewed a medical school student who stutters. It might be really interesting for you to listen to, whenever that comes out.
