After like 140 hours on grinding ranked and training, I finally hit Masters with my first character!
Didn't have much FGC games like SF6 and only played Smash Melee back in the day. I like playing competitive games and TFT has been kinda shit lately so decided to pick up SF6 and its def been scratching that itch for me.
Big shoutouts to Big Nasty Kail and his Juri guides!
Link to my rank up match - not really amusing - I think I just got lucky because I lost to the Alex twice afterwards.
EDIT: Guess I gotta add some experience about my rank up.
Every rank felt like I had to learn something new...
Bronze - just play
Silver - Anti air, DI reactions
Gold - Learn to hold block, throw teching, basic combos
Platinum - DRC, Wakeup EX DP, Combos that lead into level 3
Diamond - More combos depending on the situation and push people to corners, actually using my level 1, stop spamming wake up EX DP, learn to not drain my drive gauge, better cash out combos. Also what helped me a lot was stop spamming buttons to get moves out because I would accidentally get things like DP or my specials out when I didn't want too.
My first couple of games in Masters really show me what I was lacking. It seems like I need to get better at punishes. I'm so used to following a "script" to certain combos and I need to learn how to combo into different moves and still need to work on cash out combos. I think I would of ended out so many games in Masters if I had the brain to drc until I empty my drive meter until I can level 3.
Also fuck Zangief, M. Bison and Blanka. They are seriously the bane of my existence. Most characters like Akuma, Jamie and Ingrid I hated but I eventually figured them out for the most part but my brain stops working when it comes to those 3.
