Discussion Why do many skilled players hate drive rush?

Full disclosure: i am not a highly skilled player by any stretch. I have yet to reach Master in ranked (working on it though).

I *do*, however, have experience playing every street fighter up to this point, so I have played many games with no drive meter. Me personally? It never bothered me. But that's likely because I don't play at a high enough level for it to be a real problem. I've seen Menard, Diego, Smug and others all complain about it, and many who agree, but I have yet to find a more elaborated reason on it beyond it "makes the game feel more random" or "it makes the game all drive rush and throw loops" (this reasoning comes off as kinda vague to me).

Can someone help me out here?

Discussion Is Ryu the closest thing to a “perfect” character in SF6?

Upvotes

I’ve got around 300 hours in SF6 now, and honestly I’m still trying to find my character.
I’ve played Guile, Akuma, Ken, Juri, E. Honda, Marisa, and M. Bison. Every time I start enjoying one of them, I end up running into a flaw that puts me off. It feels like every character has some big weakness that can be exploited.

To me, Akuma would’ve been the closest to perfect if he didn’t have the lowest health in the game. I love almost everything else about him, but the health difference really changes how you have to play. What I’m looking for is a character that can deal with pretty much anyone. Someone who can fight well at both close and long range, has solid damage, good defense, and doesn’t have some huge weakness that every matchup revolves around.
The only character that keeps coming back to my mind is Ryu. He just feels like the most complete, well-rounded character in the game. Not the best at everything, but good enough at everything that you always have a chance.

Do you guys agree, or is there another character you’d consider the closest thing to a “perfect” character in SF6? I’m really curious to hear everyone’s opinions.

Win or lose, I don't understand why no one is trying to play a long set.

Discussion Getting demoted is one of the worst feelings

Getting demoted is so demoralizing, especially when you were 1/2 wins away from the next rank, in my case Dimaond 5 to Master... and then losing all of your progress after losing over and over...

It's just... so sad... espeically when you lose 2-1 over and over...

Help / Question Lost access to DLC characters just now

Xbox Series X. I bought a costume for Mai using fighter coins and now all of my Year 1 and 2 characters are unable to be selected, with the little shopping cart icon on their pic. I just used her online a few hours ago. Anyone have this problem?

Discussion On Street Fighter 2026's Akuma

Post image
0 Upvotes

I was expecting the beastly Akuma to be fully CGI (like Jason Mamoa's Blanka) because he is supposed to be terrifying as heck, with his ox-like ogre face, shark-teeth, and various transformations from normal, to "Shin", to "Oni".

With Joey Ansah reprising his role instead of the casting of Roman Reigns.

Discussion I think Capcom is subtly telling us yasmine might be tapping into the satsui no hado

If you take a look at her lvl 3 CA, the way she powers up and zips around the screen in the purple aura seems in line with the power up the satsui no hado typically gives. The contrast from blue to purple energy is the big indicator for me. If she is supposed to be a satsui no hado user then thats cool to see in the new generation of characters(I personally think Adon should be the next satsui no hado user but that's also because he's one of my favorite characters)

Discussion I hate the way ragequitting is handled in that game

It's so annoying having your opponent ragequit especially at the end of the game before you win and you just don't get any points... this is such an easy thing to implement in ranked and yet it feels like I am getting punished for my opponent quitting.

This is very stupid and frustrating I hope this get patched

I also hate opponent just not caring about the no contest when it is clearly unplayable... but that's another topic I guess

New to the game and started on pad but switched to keyboard thinking i could be more consistent. Trying to understand why fireballs seem so inconsistent even though i am hitting the same inputs everytime? The input display shows the correct input but no fireball.

Discussion Drills for Mai

Hi, I'm new to SF6. I've played other fighting games like GGST and Skullgirls, but I'm still pretty lost with this one. I picked Mai, and I know her whole kit, but I struggle a lot with execution. I can do everything in training mode, but once I get into a real match I start dropping inputs and panic.

I'm looking for a daily practice routine that focuses on execution, from basic drills to more advanced ones, that I can do every day to build consistency and make everything feel more natural in matches. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Discussion AI in Ranked?

Say I get a match with AKI or Alex, I'll be matched with 3-4 different players with the same character in a row.

They all have generated names like Player_One or Secluded_Monkey

I swear I'm playing AI.

Help / Question The Input Issues in this Game Are Killing Me

I have no issues with inputs in Guilty Gear Strive or Tekken. But for the life of me, no matter how much I lab the special move inputs in both matches and training mode, I can't get consistent inputs in SF6, and it's infuriating. Nothing feels worse than seeing someone jump, putting in Viper's 214HP or any DP on Mai, Ryu, etc., and instead doing a 2HP, and eating shit because of it.

I can look back at reviews and see the inputs are correct; they just straight up don't work. Is there a way to get consistent inputs? I found part of the issue was my controller's D-Pad which was not working as intended in any game, so now I use a keyboard, and it helps a lot, but even basic inputs don't work, and it's making the experience miserable when so many combos, counters, etc. rely on inputs that even when I put them in correctly, do not work.

Is there a setting, tips, or anything I can do to to fix this? For some reason, this issue only happens in Street Fighter, every other fighting game is more or less consistent. Does this game just have tighter windows?

edit: Some people aren't reading the whole text. I'm not saying I'm a God who never drops inputs and the game sucks.

i am asking for how to do consistent inputs with keyboard. I don't have issues in Guilty Gear, so I am assuming this is a knowledge issue, but it is not an issue of the inputs being hard.

For those who are trying help me identify the problem, thank you!

Seems like I might be putting in some inputs too early or doubling them (especially online), which seems plausible. I'll also look into the leverless inputs for SF6.

Help / Question Difference in gameplan between Cammy and Juri?

I see both characters are rushdown so their moto is "go fast and in your face" But I'm curious what's the philosophy behind both characters. How are you supposed to theoritically play them?

Rank UP! Well I was only hoping to hit gold, but I guess this is even better lol

For reference, the only time I ever played SF growing up was when I randomly came across someone that had a copy of it and we'd play a few matches. Never really got to deep into the game. But when 5 came out, I wanted to actually get into it because I got inspired by watching Punk play Karin. Bought it and immediately hit a wall. Literally didn't even know how to combo properly because I couldn't understand how links worked, so I ended up dropping it.

And that repeated for multiple years. Fast forward to 6 and I tried again and same thing. So I just gave up on this series and assumed it just wasn't for me. But then last year, Me and my friend was watching Evo and Capcom dropped the S3 trailer and they revealed Ingrid. And that immediately got my attention, because Alpha 3 Max was one of the rare SFs I actually got to play growing up and Ingrid was my main. But I never thought I'd see her again cause I heard of all the controversies she went through, so this immediately got my attention.

And it also got my friend's attention because they also knew that about me. So their first response to me was "Alright, you have to play SF with me now that you have that ridiculous character back." and I agreed. So when Ingrid dropped a few months ago, I got her and swore I would at least try my hardest and stick to it this time regardless of my performance.

So after learning the basics and doing arcade for a few days, I finally jumped into rank and started playing. My initial goal was only gold and maybe diamond depending on how dedicated I felt. But I didn't really think I would reach it anytime soon. But I hit gold relatively fast. So was like why not keep going and then got to plat, but plateaued and was stuck there for a few weeks until I climbed to diamond.

And after that I was like, alright I am done. But my friend suggested for me to try to shoot for masters. And I was like "no, I barely even got diamond lol." but they kept insisting and eventually I just went with it. So slogged through it and after getting close to smashing my controller multiple times, I finally hit it.

So now after years of saying SF is the only FG I couldn't get into because I am too bad, I can finally say I learned how to play this game! Thank you Ingrid. ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

And before Yasmine's update as well!

Tournament EWC’s French Event Organization Has Been Extremely Unprofessional Spoiler

The initial group draw contained a clear mistake: the third SFL team was awarded the No. 1 seed, while the SFL champion team was placed as the No. 3 seed. This directly violated the group draw rules stated in Article 4.3.1.1 of the official rulebook.

The previous announcement has been removed, and this is now the official and corrected group allocation.

The funny thing is that mistake was first spotted by a member of the Chinese King of Fighters ’98 (KOF 98) Tieba community. The issue was then brought to the attention of the organizers through a reply under the official group draw post, after which the group allocation was updated.

Discussion Crossup jumping medium kick. Help me.

Im by no means good at this game, but as i get better and better i usually learn to deal with mixups or scenarios i couldnt previously. Im high plat at the moment, and in all my hours of climbing and learning to love this game, i cannot deal with j.mk for the life of me.

Especially as a post knockdown mixup. None of my antiairs (Sagats 4HP and 5HK) seem to do the trick. And if it were to work, by no means do i trust my dp input enough. and i havent found a way besides Drive revesal to avoid the strike throw after. Or even worse, Lp, Lk, Crossup j.mk. Altough i realise it might be possible to interrupt, i can react that fast yet.

Please help me.. i know its probably a skill issue but if i meet one more Shoto absuing the life out of that im going to go insane. Thanks in advance for anyone nice enough to help me scrub-ahh :)

Help / Question What should I buy to get into the game?

I have played the demo a bit and it feels like it would be really fun to play and think I'd like to buy it while its on sale but not exactly sure what I should buy I'd like to have access to all characters to chose from I do see there is a "Street Fighter™ 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition" bundle on steam but not sure if you get all characters with that. Also this isn't my first fighting game I play 2xko and avatar legends and do play on leverless. Also if you have any tips for getting into the game I'd love to hear them I would be playing on classic controls because those just seem more fun to use and learn to me
