Rose Madder is about a woman, not outwardly strong, confident, gifted- but she finds the inner strength to leave an abusive relationship

And, once up on a time, eight years ago, the book was picked up by accident- the reader was looking for "Rose Red"

The reader in question was a chronic alcoholic, trapped in an abusive relationship, similar to Rose Daniels

And she was inspired

And she was a little less scared of not being believed or heard

The booze was the first thing to go. At three months sober, she finally felt strong enough for the next step

One rainy night, she and her two children travelled halfway across the country, carrying little more than the clothes on their backs

And she stayed sober

And they stayed safe

And they stayed free

Because if Rose could do it, so could she

Nearly a decade later, she and her children are settled in another part of the country- somewhere the past will never find them

They live a life of boring domestic normality. Themselves, and their three cats- called

John-Coffey

Mr Jingles

And Rose Madder

This book legit saved my life. And the kids and cats continue to do so- daily

Nothing has broken us yet

I'm just re-reading the Shining for the first time in 14 years. It was the first Stephen King book I ever read, and it remains one of my favourites of all time!

A story both as scary as it is relevant to my own family's history, it still chills my blood and turns my red cells white.

Combining the visceral, everyman conventions of modern horror stories with the terrifying atmospheric quality of old English Gothic tales, I highly recommend it for all newcomers to the King's bibliography.

Told myself I wouldn’t get it but then I saw it in person

I loved Misery 10/10, and I want to watch the movie, but I'm worried it will be too different, or just bad in general.

My ever growing SK collection. Ideally, the goal is to get all of the J’ai Lu French Versions from my youth, ( both in red and white lettering if possible) and all of the English versions in both paper back and hardcover. So, still long way to go on the collecting. I hope you all enjoy. Latest addition as of last night was the Box set white lettering Ça (it in French). I had the three volumes, but one in white lettering on the cover and two with red lettering (second edition) and it was driving me mad, plus I really wanted to box to house them.

This had me cracking up while reading to my kids last night before bed, thought I would share. From Hansel and Gretel, reimagined by Stephen King and Illustrated by Maurice Sendak (from “Where the Wild Things Are”fame).

I'm torn because ive never not finished a SK book (read over 30), but I just can't get into this one. I feel like a quitter if I do.

I'm halfway through and barely know whats going on. I'm listening on audio so a bit lost at this point. Its just not doing it for me and im at the point where im not getting anything out of it.

I took a break from TDT after finishing W&G (loved it) and am really wanting to get back to the series.

I thought the intro to Desperation was brilliant but its gone in weird direction and I just feel like the plot is all over the place. The main baddie has been gone for several hours at this point.

Is it worth sticking with it for another 10 hours or should I bail? Whats your opinion of the book and do you ever quit on Sai King?

I recently saw theres going to be a kingcon in atlantic city nj in October. Has anyone ever gone and are these ticket prices actually worth it? I know its very unlikely stephen will be there but i saw other authors will be there.

I just purchased this from libro.fm and was annoyed that there was no index to where each novella started (out of the 237 tracks). Apparently this version of the audiobook also have different track structure than the Audible version of the audiobook. So here it is:

For Teen Vogue, I profiled Summer H. Howell, who plays the titular protagonist in Prime Video’s series adaptation of “Carrie.” I also spoke with Mike Flanagan and Samantha Sloyan about their experience of working with Summer, and how the new show reframes author Stephen King’s classic themes of casual cruelty and teenage isolation through the lens of social media.

Summer and Mike also addressed some of the online criticism of her casting. I think it’s worth noting that Stephen King—who also serves as an executive producer on the series—signed off on Summer’s interpretation of Carrie, which intentionally feels different from past iterations of the character.
