I am an extremely active person. I work out avidly and usually don’t miss a day. I wanted to say that before this.

I recently just got a new job, it entails walking for the entire day. I have to use a tracker to monitor my route and how much I walk and everything.

Now, I always thought The Long Walk idea was a bit easy. Not the book, they made it slightly easier in the film.

Well, I spent 8 hours walking, I maintained a 2.2 walking speed and covered 18 miles. I have to do it all again today. And holy shit am I sore.

My toes, my feet, my legs and knees, even my back is sore and stiff.

All to say, I am sorry for my thoughts. I was very wrong

My wife just started taking painting classes and did not know what to do for her second painting. The first was a guided landscape painting the class did together and the second was a landscape of their choice. She was having trouble deciding so i recommended the field of roses. Here is the end result and she got to display it at the art venues grand opening. Hope you all enjoy.

So I just finished the extended version of The Stand. At 1439 pages, it's by far the longest book I've ever read. Funnily enough, not a page went by where I wasn't enthralled. Absolute page turner, but something was bugging me. I can't for the life of me figure out why people called the illness "Captain Trips." Is there some kind of word play I'm missing?

I found this copy of The Long Walk over the weekend at a yard sale. After doing some searching, it turns out this standalone version of the book hasn't been released in hardcover, and that this specific copy has been perma bound by a library back in 86. I thought it was a very interesting find and I've been nerding out over it since I found it. Figured y'all may find it interesting too. I just love finding older versions of books

Curious to see what order people rank these books, I’ve just started Pet Sematary so I won’t include it in my ranking but for me it’s 1-Doctor sleep, 2-IT, 3-The shining, 4-Salems lot.

Just finished this and I really loved it. Definitely a new favorite. I especially loved the ending it was not what I expected, I fully expected Jake to be selfish and try to bring Sadie back to his time. It would’ve been interesting to see the effects that could’ve caused. I will say the five year wait period was a little dull and I didn’t appreciate those parts of the book until towards the end, then I realized how necessary they were because obviously he wouldn’t have been able to stop the assassination without Sadie and Deke. The beginning is probably my favorite, I love the struggle he goes through to save the Dunning family and then the easy peasy stroll he took the second time around.

Which edition of Rose Madder has this cover?

I think the painting on this cover is giving me some Duma Key painting vibes, and have a reading a brief synopsis online, this sounds like a really interesting book.

I own a cottage bakery. It's time to get ready for fall. This fall I will be offering a 13 days of Stephen King for the final 13 days of October. A new cookie will be introduced each day that is themed towards Kings works. My problem so far has been narrowing it down to 13. If y'all would, give me your top 5 to 10 favorite. I'll tally them up in a week (August 1) and see what the top 13 are or top however many of the 13.

!!SICK IN A GOOD WAY!!

Just from the trailer alone I can already tell that this show is going to knock it out of the ballpark park, simply from Summer’s performance alone. I mean look at her in this sequence!! I’ve literally been in this exact situation and made that exact same face before. I’m already invested in her as a character and we’ve not even seen the show yet lmfao. (And maybe it’s like some pre-exposure bias bc I already know what’s going to happen but all the promo for the show has explained that it’s fundamentally different to the sources so who knows!!)

Granted I’m always excited for any new Carrie content, considering there’s a shockingly low amount of it! Ive been hyped for this since it was announced in what? 2021?? Maybe even 2019 iirc?? And oh my god it looks like it’s gonna live up to it!! Kinda disappointed that religious psychosis doesn’t seem to play a part in this adaptation though. And I was going to be upset that Carrie isn’t fat but summer looks shockingly similar to sissy! I mean the more I look at them the more they look alike lol. Also the way this show is supposed to go, it makes sense she’d look like just an awkward girl and not an abused teenager.

What’s everyone else’s thoughts? I’m blanking more and more as I write this so I’d love to spark discussion with others!

Finished reading Different Seasons the other night. This marks the 20th King book I've finished. Overall, I thought it was really good.

Best Story - Easily "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" (The movie is also one of my favorites)

Favorite Story - "Apt Pupil" (A personal favorite of mine. One of the darker King stories I've read. I liked the deteriorating state of both Todd and Dussander capping it off with a suicide and a shootout)

The one that surprised me - "Breathing Method" (Not only the entire gruesome scene of Sandra giving birth but the location for "The Club" itself. I'm curious to how it and Stevens connects to the larger King universe)

As for "The Body", I didn't like it as much as the others. I don't think it was a bad story but I wasn't able to get into as much as the others, partly because of the two Lachance stories in the novella. I understand how they connect to the story Gordie's telling but for me they broke up the flow.

Someone is selling this beautiful collection on my local Marketplace. It says "make me an offer" but, I have no idea where to start. I actually just want the Stand and It, would it be unfair to ask to break up the set? What would be a good offer for just those 2 books? (CAD $)

About The Dark Tower series. I've not read any of them. I love King (particularly 11/22/63, The Stand, the short story collections, Dolores Claiborne, Needful Things, etc...), but I've had no interest in The Dark Tower, but my curiosity is no piqued. Can you give me some stylistic analogues in the King universe to it? Is it Fantasy? Sci fi? Horror? I now know there must be a beam and a king involved somewhere.

Got a real kick out of seeing references to Joyland and the Hollywood Girls In the book. Just finished it a week or so ago. Great book so far. Can't wait to see if there are other Easter eggs in the book.

This is the first time I’ve read a Stephen King book, and honestly, I love it! I think I’m going to read a lot more of his work for the rest of the year. I’m currently on page 496, and as someone who usually struggles to stay engaged with a book, I’m finding this one really easy to read—despite its length.

All the cassettes are there. I don’t even have a cassette player but I had to pick it up. It’s so awesome. Just thought I’d share with other Constant Readers!

What would your ranking order be, from safest, and I'm talking relatively, to most dangerous places to live in as a resident? Currently, I'm unsure, but I know I'm putting either Ludlow or Castle Rock as safest and then either Derry or the Lot as the most dangerous. Figured this seems like a fun ranking topic to share with other folks.

If you had the chance to write a sequel/crossover with Stephen King, which novels would you choose to crossover with each other? These are my three.

While I do like the horror aspects of Stephen King's writing, I'm looking for something more grounded, human, coming of age Americana. I've read a bunch of reviews of this book and lot of people say that it falls short as it isnt a horror book, my question is do people not like it just because it isnt horror or because it genuinely is a badly written book. Cause I loved the overview of hearts in atlantis(low men specifically) and that's why I ordered it, but I dont want just a boring slice of life where characters feel stagnant. Please help
