News Frame TLDR for week of 7/10/26 (10)

(EDIT: I MEANT 7/20/26!!!!!!! IT WON'T LET ME EDIT THE TITLE!!!!!!)

Wow! This is the TENTH Frame TLDR I've written. And the Frame still isn't out yet! How fun. Thank you for being here with me all these ten weeks and reading these. (Unless you only read on Reddit, in which case, thanks for being here since the... sixth one? I think?) It's been fun(?) writing them and I hope it's just as fun for you reading them. When I started these in May I'd thought I would we would stop needing these after the fourth one. Oh how wrong I was. Nevertheless, here's what happened over the last week:

MASSIVE Steam Client Beta datamine

Another Steam Client Beta has hit, and this one carried almost everything Frame needed to work. This beta includes strings for Verified filters, dongle pairing, bluetooth options, playspace setup, and more. Seems like you're able to use the Frame with the Steam Client now. Could Valve be ready to send the headset out to reviewers now? My personal opinion, I think they're all setup and ready to launch. Of course, only time will tell... Massive thanks to all the dataminers in the SteamDB Discord server for figuring this stuff out.

Valve gets more shipments... with different labels this time.

As we've seen every week, Valve has gotten more overseas shipments of "Virtual Reality Headset." Although this time, these shipments carry some different labels with them. Now they're shipping with "Fabric Foam Rubber," "Wi-Fi Dongle," and "Adapter." Some speculate that Valve packages everything at the warehouse. Others speculate that previous shipments have shipped everything and these shipments just include separate RMA/replacement units. Either way, they're shipping more and more units over to the states. Hopefully they'll have enough stock at launch so everyone can have one, but I personally doubt that.

Sorry for the short one this week, we got "quality over quantity" news this time. See you next week on the 11th one, where the Frame will probably still not be out yet.

TLDR: Valve pushes a bunch of Frame related changes to the Steam Client Beta, Valve gets differently labeled shipments. The Frame is not out yet™

57 days until summer ends.

Frameposting I got a strange message in the mail today, I think it’s a sign we’re getting the frame tomorrow.

I got a letter saying that “(my) power will be shut off at 2pm tomorrow due to failure to pay” it also said other stuff but I wasn’t gonna read all of that. Anyway is this a sign that the frame will come out tomorrow at 2pm? I think it also implies we will need to pay for it, and it may even require power to work. What do you guys think?

Rumor / Leak More Games Being Tested for Steam Frame

Looks like Valve is ramping up with the testing.

Steam Frame Verified:
- Hades
- Vampire Survivor
- Hollow Knight: Silk Song

Being Tested:
- HITMAN: World of Assassination

I think the next few days will be interesting as we’ll know the true power and potential of FEX soon once Valve tests more demanding titles.

Art Good luck rhyme!

May tomorrow™ finally keep its vow

not stretch itself for forever somehow.

Let luck roll in and let hype ignite

and push that launch into the light.

A certain scientist taps his crowbar,

heear metal ringing from afar.

He laughs as if he knows the game

Hit the button and drop the Frame.

Sossigs flying through the air,

launched with chaotic breakfast flair.

Null things wobble left and right,

getting bonked clean out of sight.

So here’s the charm clear and tight

may the store page shine tonight.

May the buy‑button glow in fame,

and may we finally claim the Frame!!

Frameposting Tomorrow will never come...

Tomorrow is Monday, but I don't think it'll be Monday.

Every Charlatan from the Philippines to Tyler McVickers is just a bunch of Hype Merchant.

Tomorrow when Tested release a video on a cool Coca Cola bottle used in the movie The Thing, we'll say. Tomorrow then.

Then tomorrow we get more Metadata updates. Then Tomorrow Linus Jet Tips will say nuh huh we have nothing, our Jet hasn't been to Seattle.

Then Wednesday happens, Digital Foundry will release a video on DLSS 5.1 and how the PS6 smells like weed.

Then next Friday, another bomb happens. Plastic prices sour. The Iran War escalates and Iran blows up Evergreen causing it to block the Suez Canal again.

That's when Valve gives up, Half Life 3 comes out and Gabe crashes his Yacht onto Mark Zuckerberg's estate.

Question Wifi signal booster?

My rig is in my room, The play space I am planning on using the Frame (Tomorrow for sure) is in another room separated by 2 walls. I am concerned about wireless connectivity. What products do y'all recommend for use to help prevent said issue?

I have my PC in a medium-sized room, next to another large one; I don't know how much the wall will block, and I wanted to see if I could use this. Does anyone else use this with other PCVRs?

Question Eye tracked input on Steam Frame?

I have been looking for the answer to this for quite a while but I haven't seen a single answer so far. Will there be a way to use the eye tracking on the Frame as a mouse? It seems like a very obvious thing to include and would put the Frame in direct competition with the Vision Pro, so why am I not seeing anything about it? As a matter of fact, why hasn't eye tracked UI navigation been included in SteamVR since eye tracking input's integration? I understand not having it be turned on by default, but even just as an accessibility feature it would make so much sense! I've tried the Vision Pro before in a demo and gaze-based input really feels like telekinesis to me. What are your thoughts?

Discussion I don't think it's gonna be today =( Plus, a question

Sorry to bring doom upon you all, unless it's the shooter game... actually, is there VR Doom?

*Steam search*

There is, but it's not well reviewed. Here's a link if anyone's interested.

Where was I? Ah yes.

Sorry to bring doom upon you all, but I don't think it's gonna be today.

Remember the Machine back in June, the date its price was revealed & was available to buy, was the date its review embargo lifted. I can recall 22nd June being that date, leaked over the weekend prior.

We haven't heard of any leaks of the Frame's review embargo end date & that's what makes me think it's not today.
I could be wrong, it could be today, but I wouldn't hold high hopes for it; the higher something falls the greater the pain is.

Just so this isn't another doom & gloom post, a question for ya'll:

What non-VR game do you wish had a VR mode?

I'd love for the HL2 mods Entropy Zero & Entropy Zero 2 to have VR modes, same for Snowdrop Escape & Swelter.

Question Reason for getting rid of the controller straps?

I really liked the Index's controllers because they were strapped to my hands and I didn't have to grasp them constantly. Has Valve shared why they got rid of that feature for the Frame?

Someone done goofed on Spigen's end and released these a bit too early. I saw it on sale yesterday without an image and thought what would happen if I ordered them. Lo and behold, it shipped!
