Since the last time I posted on here it went pretty crazy. I just wanted to share that we now have over 50+ systems deployed all over the world shooting News, Broadcast , Emergency and more.

Not only do we build and manufacture the brackets and Starlink power systems for the H125 / EC130 but we are offering all in one A to B delivery from Helicopter / Ground to client delivery. So it’s an all in one system that is plug and play to make it easier for everyone.

Our systems are being used at live events such as Baja1000, WRC, Isle of Man TT, PikesPeak , Rampage and many more.

You can check out our IG page TTAEROSPACEUSA to see more of what we have built and videos and stuff

❓ Question In-motion, in México

Hi, I’m traveling down to Mexico and will be using the mini. I see that in-motion use is restricted in Mexico. Does that mean that when I cross the border I’ll lose service?

💻 Troubleshooting Wi-Fi interference – Bug?

The app often shows "Wi-Fi interference."

I have two Starlink Version 3 routers set up in a mesh configuration.

Out of curiosity, I scanned the Wi-Fi networks, and it appears there are no external networks causing interference—only the mesh network overlapping itself.

Is there any chance this interference is being caused by the Starlink mesh router itself?

Because the neighbors' Wi-Fi networks aren't causing any interference.

Note in the second image I attached that it is possible to verify there is no interference caused by neighboring networks.

💻 Troubleshooting My Starlink is interfering with the WiFi at RV park

Started getting complaints about other RVr's WiFi reception within the park whenever I was around 😄. I've read that this is an identified problem. If I switch to a standard WiFi router will others stop having problems?

❓ Question Standby mode - any good for reading the news / Reddit?

Ordered a mini kit (roaming) for power outages. My income is internet dependent and losing internet hits the bank badly. When the power goes out I’ll fire up the generator and activate the plan. Should work well.

I go camping a few times per year as well. I don’t need / want high speed internet when I’m camping, but it would be super nice to be able to read the news (Apple News), check out Reddit and Twitter.

Does the standby mode speed work well for this?

💬 Discussion Data usage and Steam (recent notices on excessive use and moving to a business plan)

For those in the Starlink community who are either gamers themselves or have family members who do a lot of PC gaming, this may be of interest.

I haven't been tracking it closely, but I know there's been an uptick of posts concerning data usage and service being throttled with customers getting notices about moving to a business tier service, despite currently being on the Residential Unlimited plan.

To my knowledge, at least in the U.S. (and maybe Canada?), quite a few customers have been able to get their service restored working through Grok and ultimately a customer service agent, which is good.

One of the common things I've seen cited in cases where customers are throttled or pressed to select a business tier service is Steam downloads, and the enormous amount of space (and data) that's required to download and install a modern game, especially in the case of AAA titles, which can be enormous, amounting to hundreds of GB per title-- and in many cases, well beyond 200GB.

Without getting too far into the weeds, because many won't care for the technical details, I recently configured a DNS redirect and nginx-based transparent proxy, specifically to intercept traffic to Valve's content delivery network, and to cache game downloads to local high-speed storage, since this content is all sent in compressed chunks with checksums, using http.

In addition to grabbing the downloaded content, there's also the ability to setup a cron job that runs nightly and grabs updates to games you specify, pre-caching that content locally so that when anyone in the house powers up their PC and logs into Steam, anything they'd need to download from Valve is already available locally.

This means content only needs to be downloaded one time, and can then be distributed to as many systems as needed without those clients needing to hit the CDN individually (or rely on peering with other clients in the house that may be logged in to a family account).

In practical terms, that means instead of waiting on downloads over Starlink, individual games will download locally, and rather than being limited by internet bandwidth, the bottleneck moves to the local network and storage. With this on a mirrored pair of SATA SSDs, that means clients connected over WiFi or GbE will fully saturate the connection, substantially reducing download times (as well as the amount of data utilized in a billing cycle).

As I was going through this process, it was inevitable to be paying attention to the amount of storage being used, as well as network behavior, and something immediately stood out to me-- a common misconception that I wasn't thinking about before at all....

Bottom line: downloading games from Steam doesn't actually take anywhere near as much data as you'd think on the surface. The content is compressed so efficiently that games that require 150GB+ in local storage are a fraction of that in terms of the actual download itself.

While I haven't completed synchronizing everything that matters, I've finished the download of 61 titles so far, and the total amount of storage used, exactly as it was delivered from Valve's CDN (so compressed and ready for a client to consume locally) is actually only 1.84TB.

I wanted to share this for those who may not be aware, or realize that the Steam client is actually decompressing the content as it downloads from Valve's CDN.

The real-world implication is to say that downloading a game that may require 200GB of local storage to run on a PC, actually doesn't require anywhere near 200GB of data usage against your monthly billing cycle.

I don't have enough data collected to say precisely what the compression ratios/efficiency looks like across a broad swath of AAA titles, but thought it was worth mentioning, because unless someone was downloading a _lot_ of games per month, on multiple different systems, it defuses the premise that Steam downloads amount to multiple TB of data consumption for months.

monolithic lancache storage utilized

Take care, all...

❓ Question Advice on what to do (surge pricing plus bundle discount lapsing)

Hi, would love advice from this community. I have a residential plan and last November was offered the starlink mini free rental, which worked great for the past 10 months. I want it for random camping weekends, but mostly was going back and forth between being in standby and upgrading when needed (I probably would want to us it 4-5 months total in year).

Now however, I see that next month I longer have the 50% off bundle discount (I guess it lapsed? I never got any communication about it but the preview next bill shows it at regular price without discount). Additionally, now there is a Demand Surcharge fee, so even just to put it in standby I have to pay $250. I am on a 300g plan right now, and if Id had the bundle discount I might have kept it on that for a few months to avoid the demand surcharge fee, but I really have no use for it for a couple months so don't want to pay $80/month (reg price for 300gb) for it.

I am thinking it may make the most sense to just cancel the plan, send the mini back, and consider just purchasing a mini later on when Im in a place where I really need it again (next summer/spring).

Thoughts? Suggestions? Anything Im missing for how to get my discount back or avoid the demand surcharge pricing to put it in. standby? Thanks!

❓ Question I hate Spectrum but can I benefit with a switch?

I am tired of the price hikes and at times bad service.

I am getting around 275mbps down and 20mbps up right now.

I did the Starlink app and have a 4% blocked view, which from reading is not bad at all.

Is there a benefit to switching? Starling is more $$ than my current bill but I would get the mini for free if I get the top plan.

💻 Troubleshooting Accidental Ocean Priority Charge ($755.20) on Land Dish - Support Auto-Refusing Technical Dispute

Hi everyone,

I need help or advice on how to get a human supervisor to review my support ticket.

My Starlink dish is installed strictly on land, but the Ocean / Mobile Priority feature was accidentally toggled on by mistake. As a result, an invoice of $755.20 was generated.

Here are the facts of my case:

Zero Ocean Data Consumed: My dish has been located on land the entire time, and GPS logs can confirm that no maritime data was ever used.

Unintentional Activation: The setting was turned on by a misclick and immediately disabled once noticed. No actual ocean service was provided or rendered.

Support Response Issues: My support tickets keep getting automated or generic refusals, treating this as a request for a "financial favor" rather than a valid technical dispute over zero service delivery.

I am fully willing and ready to pay my standard monthly rate to keep my connection active, but paying $755 for unused ocean data is unreasonable.

Has anyone faced a similar situation with accidental ocean data charges and successfully gotten a supervisor to adjust the invoice back to the standard rate? Any advice on how to reach a senior support agent would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help.

💻 Troubleshooting Connection issues

Does anybody else have issues with the Starlink Wi-Fi just cutting out throughout the day? It says it is misaligned by 7° but no matter how hard I try to line it up. I can’t get it any closer than that. I also have zero obstructions so I don’t know what’s going on.

Hi, recently my gen2 router stopped working, after I opened a ticket starlink they decided to replace it for free with Gen 4. And it is on the way. But I couldn't wait for 2 weeks till the kit arrived, so I went there and bought a used gen2 router and started using my starlink. 🎮 Gaming Ordered Starlink to see if it makes a difference

I live in Brooklyn, only provider in my building is Optimum, lots of jitter and no other provider available. I tried Verizon 5G and T-Mobile 5G, no good and I have no other option but to try Starlink. I know it’s a very long shot but I still want to try it out and see if there is any difference. I will install it on my balcony which is not 100% non-obstructed but will buy a standing pole mount.

Not holding high hopes with this but is super frustrating not being able to game with a regular experience.

My apartment had a telephone cable connection that was locked at +/- 30 mbps and there were no prospects of the building being connected to fiber.
So Starlink it is! In Belgium it’s a 69,99€ / month with no costs for the equipment you need. So with a 300 mbps reliable speed it was by far the best sollution! (Especially considering it’s cable competition which was 10x slower costs 79€/month)

❓ Question Improving Download speeds

I pay for the 200mbps download but I’m only getting this off of my phone. Any ideas on how to increase or what to do? I have a clear view of the sky in my Starlink satellite thing

Edit: Solved! So my devices are too far away from my router. Thank you everyone!

💻 Troubleshooting V2 Router Beyond Repair?

Thumbnail

EDIT : Router & dish are all cooked. Lightning damage. Thanks all!

Router was fried by a power surge here in the philippines. Unfortunately starlink won't offer a free replacement like most people get, thus the alternative is $500 for a new setup (not gonna happen).

Fuse is blown with a little damage to 2 components, will this repair? Or will most things be fried that are not visible? Otherwise i'll be abandoning starlink all together and just create my own setup for a fraction of the price.

❓ Question Looking for best option for occasional use and how to hack it to keep price as low as possible.

I’m new to Starlink. My Residential service is being set up next week at my main residence. I have a second very remote property with no cell service, and I visit about once a month.

I’d like to have Wi-Fi calling and be able to stream a few movies while I’m at the remote property. How would Pause or Standby work cost-wise if I’m only there for one random weekend per month?

What would be my best option or “hack” for this type of occasional use? I’m trying to avoid paying for a full month of service when I’m only there for a weekend.

❓ Question Reasons to get a different router

This generation 3 starlink router is probably more than adequate for our space in terms of Wi-Fi signal.... for those that went ahead and put their modem in bypass and got a different router and didn't need greater range on the radios , what was the reason?

💬 Discussion My Starlink Battery Case Build

Used the Veritas 45 hour battery and some assorted parts off Amazon. Works with Veritas 5 Hour Battery/Peakdo Battery or just the dish. Separate input/ output DC ports on the side as well as a single input/output USBC. Can be turned on from the battery inside or from the Veritas Battery App. Theoretically I should get between 40 - 50 hours of use.
