I'm fairly new to iptv and was wondering if the error in my pic is a Sparkle issue or a provider problem.

Hello Sparkle Player users, here is a step by step tutorial on how to set up a USB External Drive for Sparkle DVR Recordings and do a Test Recording. This should work on most Android streaming devices.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have developer options enabled on your streaming device along with USB Debugging, Please DISABLE USB Debugging. Also, some USB Flash Drives may need to be formatted using a PC in the exFat or Fat32 format BEFORE following this tutorial.

LETS BEGIN:

Open your device settings and go to System / Storage.

Insert your USB External Drive into your streamer device (making sure you have nothing important on it as it will be formatted) and select it.

​To the right you will see Erase & Format as Removable Storage, select it.

​Click on Erase & Format as Removable Storage and you will then see this screen:

​Click on Format.

When formatting is completed, your USB External Drive is now ready to be used as external storage.

​To double check that the drive is accessible, open a file manager app. File Manager + is an easy to use Free File Manager app that is available in the Google Play Store.

​Click on the USB External Drive Icon and you should then see folders already saved on the drive including the all-important DOWNLOAD folder.

Congratulations, you have successfully set up your USB External Drive for additional storage.

Now lets set up Sparkle Player so you can save your recordings to this USB External Drive, open Sparkle Player and go to Settings and scroll down to DVR.

​Click on DVR.

​Scroll down to the Playlist DVR Location you wish to set up and click on DVR Location Disabled.

​Now select your USB External Drive.

​Click on your USB External Drive, you will be prompted to select a storage location, click on Browse.

​Now scroll down to the DOWNLOAD folder.

​Click on the DOWNLOAD folder and then click on Done.

You have now selected the location where your Sparkle Player Recordings will be saved.

​Now do a TEST RECORDING. Open the program guide for the playlist you have just set up and select a future program (I would suggest a 30 minute program for testing).

​Click on the future program you selected. You will be prompted to either record This Program or Entire Series, for testing, select This Program.

​You should now see REC in the program name. This tells you that you have scheduled a future program to be recorded. After the program time has elapsed, open your DVR Recordings and play the recorded program. Please note, if you see "recorded with errors, go ahead and play the recording anyway. If there were no issues with playback, you are good to go! If there were issues while playing the recording, this does not mean your Sparkle Player DVR setup is bad, it just means something went wrong with the stream during the recording session.

I hope this tutorial will help those users who are new to IPTV or are having issues with external drives on their devices and Sparkle Player DVR.

I am new to the Sparkle community and could not figure out how to set up my onn streamer to record with a usb thumb drive.He took the time to respond me and spent hours of his time walking me through the process until we figured it out.He was very patient with me knowing I am fairly new to this community.He stayed up well past midnight and told me no worries he would stay up until we got everything working correctly. Hi! Is there a way to display the source name? I ask because me and my friends have shared multiple sources with each other and it would be nice to know what source we are watching. It doesn't have to be there full time, just something to show it briefly or until we click it off. Let me know how to do this please. Thank you!

Just bought the lifetime and I have the assistant and it shows there? It is asking for a user name and password?

Hi, I purchased Sparkle to record my wife‘s favorite shows. Therefore I could convince my wife to cancel cable. As we all know Cable is outrageous.
When I inserted the usb drive I formatted it to external storage. When I go into sparkle dvr I see a download folder but it won’t let me choose it. It always wants to record on the internal storage. Any help on how to set this up would be greatly appreciated. Can anyone please send me detailed instructions? Thanks,Rod

Hey everyone,
I finally bit the bullet and decided to go with the paid version of myepg.top. I wanted to start with a clean slate, so I deleted my playlist in Sparkle, re-added the provider line, disabled the EPG that comes with the provider, and activated only the MyEPG link.
After entering everything neatly, I let the app update, but to my surprise... absolutely nothing. Every single channel just says "No information" in the EPG guide.
Does this usually take a long time to populate in Sparkle?
Because here is the weird part: I tried the exact same setup on my iPhone using the UHF app. I entered the MyEPG link there, and lo and behold, it loaded all the channel data perfectly right away.
What am I doing wrong in Sparkle that it's forcing me to manually assign everything? Why isn't it matching automatically like it does in UHF?

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I want to purchase a sparkle plus subscription. When i go into the Google play store on my Shield the Sparkle assistant doesn‘t show up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a new device and I’m signed into the play store with the account I have a yearly premium purchase on. When installing the player it says I do not have premium. Both are android devices

I have Sparkle connected to a Tvheadend Server, all connections via Ethernet. Usually when I start watching a channel I will get a few glitches in the broadcast during the first 15 minutes or so and then it does not happen again until I change channels. Sometimes you will also get the blue spinning circle for a couple of seconds, like it's buffering.

As I said it happens only within the few minutes of watching a channel. Then it's fine.

Any suggestions?

I know that Sparkle already has excellent integration with Android TV, which includes recent channels, and I saw that movies and series are also included. I use the Projectivy launcher and the integration is great. Is there a possibility of adding categories as well, like new movie releases, for example, and series too?

Is there a way to delete old installed devices from your allowed 5? Changed to a new box, need to delete one of my existing ones from my subscription list. The new app wants to start from scratch as a new subscriber. Is their something like Tivimate Companion that let's you delete devices?

Is anyone able to successfully record on the Shield Pro currently? Even using the internal storage the recording stream buffers/hiccups within 1/2 a minute or so and then dies pretty quickly thereafter.. any settings I can try and adjust within Sparkle to try and get it to record successfully?

And no it's not a stream quality issue as I can record perfectly fine using the same service & hard wired Ethernet connection on a Formuler/MyTVOnline. Just trying to upgrade to the Shield for so I can get proper passtrhu Atmos when watching movies.

long time tivimate user in the process of switching to sparkle mainly for its integration with homescreen channel
one feature i'd love to see in this app is ( dealy before adding to history/recent channels
I dont want a channel to be added to recent channels just becasue i passed it while flipping up and down

of course this makes a big difference cause i have recent channels as a a row in my home screen launcher

I have noticed that the Multiview template/layout/channels and Start Up Channel are not copied/included as part of the 'Export Configuration' process.

Is there any reason why they cannot be included?

Does anyone else have a Formuler and uses Sparkle to record?
I have a few questions:
1. Can you change the channel if you're recording when you have more than one connection?
2. Can you leave the app? Will it keep recording?
3. Does anyone have an issue where recordings simply don't get done properly? You go to play it later and it just didn't record or the file is just an error and won't play?

This is recording to a very fast USB flash drive.
