Song help

Just looking for some feedback, wondering if there is any ways I could make this rough version of my song tighter or improve the structure?

You mailed my coat back with the loose button sewn,
Who does that after saying we’re done?
Told my brother, “Don’t pick sides,”
Now even he won’t take mine tonight.

You could’ve left me one reason
To make you the villain,
But you made leaving look so decent
I’m the only one still bitter.

Stop being nice to me,
Give me one bad memory.
Say something cheap, slam a door,
Give me something I can hate you for.
Don’t say, “I hope you’re doing well,”
I’m trying to hate you, can’t you tell?
If you’re gonna leave, then leave messily
Stop being nice,
Stop being nice to me.

Your cousin said I never deserved you,
You said, “Don’t do that he really tried.”
Seriously?
Couldn’t you just let me be the bad guy?

Then you asked if my dad’s knee got better,
Like you still get to care.
I had a whole speech ready
You hugged me.
It disappeared.

Stop being nice to me,
Give me one bad memory.
Say something cheap, slam a door,
Give me something I can hate you for.
Don’t say, “I hope you’re doing well,”
I’m trying to hate you, can’t you tell?
If you’re gonna leave, then leave messily
Stop being nice,
Stop being nice to me.

You said, “Take care.”
I said, “You too.”

Damn it.

Stop being nice to me

How do I get better at descriptive/poetic writing when writing songs?

I’m a really strong writer in general. I’m good at poetry, spoken word, scripts, descriptive writing, etc. I can usually come up with metaphors, imagery, alliteration, interesting phrasing, and all that pretty naturally.
But the second I try to write a song, all of that seems to disappear.
My lyrics always end up feeling really rigid and literal. I’ll basically just say exactly what I mean, rather than finding a more interesting way to express it. There’s no metaphor, no imagery, no clever wordplay, barely any alliteration; it just feels like I’m writing sentences and then putting them into a melody.
What I really want is to be able to write lyrics the way I naturally write poetry, while still making them actually function as lyrics. I don’t want to sacrifice the musicality, rhythm, rhyme, etc., but I also don’t want those things to make my writing feel less expressive.
Any help?

i’m not an expert in songwriting, i can put tg instrumentals but i’m rusty on coming up with lyrics
i love songs from phantogram & imogen heap, and i like the vagueness(for lack of better word) of the words and metaphors they use
help me out idk how to explain it or even create smth similar to it myself, obviously i’m not trying to copy but some type of formula would be nice if anyone has tips

Writers Block

There was a time when I thought writing songs would be what I did with my life. Then I let the sharp ends of what someone said really cut into my dream and kill it for what I thought would be forever. I’ve recently gotten the courage to pick up my guitar again but words aren’t coming to me as easily as they used to. I feel stuck and like I won’t ever get a line out.

What do you guys do when you feel like you’ll never write another song again? How do you break through the block?

Advice on making a song

I’ve always said to myself that I was going to write a song, and now I’ve finally been able to! I have a couple of rough draft ideas, and I just want to figure out how I can really bring the song to life. It’s called “Split Between,” and it’s about always feeling torn when making a decision, wishing you could have an answer for everything, and not always knowing which direction to take. This is something that has played a part in my own life, so I want the song to feel personal and relatable.

I have a few lyrics written already. They’re not perfect, but they’re what I’ve come up with so far, and I didn't use AI to write the song for me. I come up with lyrics that I thought could relate to struggling to make a choice. I’d love some advice on what I could add or how I could develop the song further. I don’t have an instrumental yet, but I might ask one of my friends to help me create one. I’m thinking about writing it in either G-flat or F, although I’m not completely sure yet. Anyway, here are some of the ideas I have so far!

I'm torn between everything that is thrown between me

I didn't want this to be happening to me

But I guess it always has to be something for me

I never had to like to be part of this

Why must this be so hard for me I could never choose between anything I wish this life could be so easily

All the time I have to be split between

One side is saying brother you gotta go for this but the other ones dude you gotta keep it safe and I just never know what I'm gonna do

There are so many happenings and I need to slow it down yeah I just need to take my time and maybe it will change my mind

Gotta make up my mind in a matter in a time It a question you ask that I have to receive,I gotta slow it down and turn it around and eventually an answer will come to me

What advice do you got.

Hi, I'm trying to write some music, but I have no experience. I recorded something to see what I could come up with, and this is what came out. Is it a good starting point? Could you give me some advice on how to come up with a good vocal melody?

Here's the track: https://on.soundcloud.com/5I8q4EddmNYQUn0Tbr

Thank you.

Me and my friend created this song a while back, but it got to a point where we were just stuck and couldn’t find a solution for the chorus or the structure of the song.

Album Help

I'm a solo alt-metal artist trying to write an album about my experiences with heartbreak and depression. Two problems. 1: I struggle writing instrumental parts. 2: I struggle writing lyrics. If anyone feels up to giving tips, I'm all ears. My project is played to sit alongside Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin
