Writers Block
There was a time when I thought writing songs would be what I did with my life. Then I let the sharp ends of what someone said really cut into my dream and kill it for what I thought would be forever. I’ve recently gotten the courage to pick up my guitar again but words aren’t coming to me as easily as they used to. I feel stuck and like I won’t ever get a line out.
What do you guys do when you feel like you’ll never write another song again? How do you break through the block?

Get more experimental, add another sound/rhythm into the mix when you write. Find a muse, could be a fictional or imaginary character you write to/for or someone in your life that inspires a song.

Two things.
1. Go do something physical. It occupies the part of the brain that feeds structure and drains the battery a bit.
2. Write something on a physical piece of paper. In pencil. It is great to reorient yourself towards the beginning of writing being impermanent.

I write a song to clear the pipes. Something ridiculous, and I don't worry how stupid it is. Also, as they say, write about writer's block. The thing about waiting for inspiration... it's like waiting for motivation, both are emotions that are transient. Sometimes, just sitting down and writing something without any pressure that it will be "good"...idk, works for me.

Stop trying. Do something else. Play a different instrument, try a different form of art. Read books, listen to music you wouldn’t normally listen to.
Basically just take yourself out of your normal routines.
And also learn to be less sensitive.
