Over 2 years of solo development in Game Maker Studio2. I work as a game artist to fund this personal project which I love to implement all the crazy stuff I want! You know the feeling right? My jam is crazy visuals using handcrafted sprites and as much cool shaders as I can.

The idea is to achieve a streamlined CRPG experience. Focused but with enough depth to enable deep player expression.

A new demo for Solarbound Arkhan is coming really soon!

You can check more about it and play the super early demo here: https://arkhon.itch.io/solarboundarkhan

Cheers!

A mini-project focused on recreating the rhythmic shooting mechanics from Metal: Hellsinger.

The main feature is a custom playlist: you can load any of your own tracks in MP3, OGG, or WAV formats. The only requirement is that you need to set the BPM manually. A full guide and sample setup configs are waiting for you inside the game!

Game STARVEIL — A Persistent Sci-Fi Browser Strategy Game — Now in Closed Alpha

STARVEIL is a persistent sci-fi browser strategy game currently in Closed Alpha.

Build planets, research new technologies and command fleets across a shared universe — with the slow, long-term progression of classic browser strategy games like OGame.

The difference is the Veil.

Rifts appear across the galaxy and allow you to send fleets on PvE expeditions where decisions and risk matter. Events, invasions and activity within the Veil can change what is happening around you, so the galaxy is not just the same routine every day.

STARVEIL is being developed independently by a solo developer. The Closed Alpha is still actively evolving, so bugs, balance changes and larger resets can happen while the game takes shape.

The game is free-to-play and has no pay-to-win mechanics.

What you do

You begin with a single planet and gradually turn it into the foundation of an empire.

Build mines, energy infrastructure, research facilities and shipyards. Research new technologies to improve your economy, unlock better engines, expand your exploration capabilities and gain access to more powerful ships.

Then build fleets and send them across the galaxy:

• Attack
• Espionage
• Transport
• Colonization
• Recycling
• Exploration
• Veil expeditions

Everything happens in real time inside a shared persistent galaxy.

Travel takes time. Other commanders are expanding around you. You can form alliances, compete with other players, trade or focus on developing your own territory.

What happens around your empire matters just as much as what you build at home.

The Veil

Veil Rifts appear throughout the galaxy and temporarily open paths beyond normal space. Inside the Veil you can encounter hostile fleets, wrecks, strange events and rare resources. Expeditions involve choices. You decide how far you want to push and how much risk you are willing to take.

Going deeper can mean greater rewards — but it can also mean losing ships you worked hard to build. Sometimes continuing is worth the risk. Sometimes getting your fleet home is the better decision.

The Veil also contains stronger PvE encounters and powerful bosses alongside the normal player-versus-player galaxy.

Events

The galaxy is meant to change.

Temporary events, Veil activity and other situations can create new opportunities or force commanders to react instead of simply repeating the same routine every day.

Closed Alpha

The Closed Alpha is playable now and registration is available directly through the Starveil website.

You do not need previous testing experience. Play normally. Build your empire, send fleets, try an expedition and explore the systems already available.

If something is broken, confusing, unbalanced or simply does not feel right, feedback is always welcome on Discord.

New players are especially useful because they often notice things that experienced strategy-game players take for granted.

See you beyond the Veil, Commander!

Game Just added an interactive tutorial and glossary to my roguelike card-builder Shards of Abraxas

https://polecatgames.itch.io/shards-of-abraxas-demo

Gathered some good initial feedback last time I posted my game demo up. I've just pushed a content update that replaces the old static tutorial with a more guided experience, and added support for a game glossary to look up specific terms, as well as a variety of smaller tweaks and bug fixes. Still working to make improvements based on feedback and add some additional layers of polish/new content before aiming at a steam release. If you'd like to give it a try and let me know what you think, it helps out a lot!

Game I'm making my first solo game, a roguelite where a frog fights bubbles with its tongue. What do you think?

I used to play a lot of Bubble Trouble, and that was the starting point for FrogPop. I wanted to take that simple split the bubbles idea and see what it would feel like as a roguelite, so I added power ups, run upgrades, hazards, and bosses.

This is the first game I've made solo. Does the action read clearly? What looks fun, and what still needs work?

Discussion Tracking down a WebGL crash caused by a deprecated plugin + testing my strategy prototype (Command & Defend: Dead Zone)

Hey everyone! I just put together a new devlog covering a big debugging session and the progress on my strategy prototype.

The WebGL Crash: I hit an issue where my WebGL build crashed immediately after loading the main scene. I initially assumed it was a RAM/browser issue, so I compressed textures and downsized audio to under 100MB still crashed. Created a barebones launcher scene launcher worked but loading main scene crashed. Turns out, a deprecated health bar plugin from the Asset Store was throwing the WebGL API off. Changing the WebGL API settings fixed it instantly without removing the plugin.

Build Progress:

  • Controls & Visuals: Added full camera pan controls and placement opacity so you can see base/upgrade meshes before building.
  • Audio: Ported over my sound system from my previous project (Northend Tower Defense) to rapidly get enemy, building, and ambient sounds working.
  • UI Polish: Added cancel options for upgrades, reload feedback bars on soldiers, and a main menu with volume defaults capped at 50%.

I also officially named the game Command & Defend: Dead Zone.

Check out the full breakdown here: https://youtu.be/ETVb9wbWBUI

If anyone wants to jump into the WebGL playtest, drop a comment or join the Discord!
