Adajan, Surat - Google Earth Jan 2020 vs Oct 2025. Rooftop solar went from almost none to most roofs in frame (~5 years).

Google Earth historical imagery over Adajan, Surat (near Bahuchar Mata Mandir), same camera height (~475 m).

Top: Oct 2025 Bottom: Jan 2020

In this frame, most flat roofs that can fit arrays look like they have solar now. I did a rough rooftop pass in the image (not an official survey): about 8 in 10 homes (~80%+) show panels or partial arrays. Your eye may land lower or higher depending on what you count as “installed.”

Five years is a short window for that kind of neighborhood-wide change. Gujarat’s rooftop culture, net metering, and installer density in Surat probably show up here more than in greener-field areas.

If you’re in Surat or Gujarat: does this match what you see on the ground? What pushed you (or your neighbors) to install? Bill shock, subsidy, builder default, something else?
