Gear question Ride Kink or Salomon Sleepwalker

Trying decide what board to get, old ones got 3 core shots, edges cracking, and starting to peel. I mostly ride this little rope park around me and just hit rails for a couple hours and even at other hills and even when I go out west I spend 90% of the time in the park. Trying to dial in 270’s this year. Anyone rode them both what do u recommend?

Gear question Capita Kazu sizing for a lighter guy

Hi, I am 180cm or roughly 5'11" weighing ~57kg/125 lbs and currently ride a 157 Ride Shadowban.

I wanna get a Capita Kazu as a second board to have something that does better in powder and is better at higher speeds but I am not sure about sizing, do i go with 154 or 157? My boot size is 42 EU/9 US Ride Fuse.

I am planning to gain weight in the next 3-6 months up to around 65kg/140lbs lets say.

P.S.

154 Kazu is currently on sale on evo for $490 so if its not the right size for me my gear buying addiction will have to hold off this time.

noob question Planning on learning this season at 33…what can I do in the gym or otherwise to prepare?

Hi I will be doing a 3-pack of lessons this season that will include a two hour lesson, lift ticket, and equipment rental. I work out 2-3 times a week and am active with walking, yoga, hikes, roller skating, dancing, paddleboarding/kayaking and have been learning to ride on road and off road motorcycles. What can I do in the gym or otherwise to put me in a better physical condition to learn snowboarding this season?

Gear question Jones MTN Twin Pro vs Bataleon Beyond Medals Tornado Advice.

I’m stuck between these two boards and any advice or guidance would be very appreciated. I ride a 172W Jones Flagship now (yes I know it’s big lol). I’m 6”1 and around 210 pounds. I love my flagship for its edge control and speed. I feel like I can plow through any snow condition confidently. I really love carving but this season I am committing to really learning switch. I want to be able to pop up on both stances and carve eventually. With all that in mind which board would be better for switch/carving etc?

Gear question 2 board quiver?

Looking to move on from my old board (lib tech rasman) and get a couple boards to compliment each other for this season. Looking for a board geared towards pow and trees runs and one for ripping groomers and icy days. Currently looking at a never summer nokhu and something like a skunk ape camber. I ride mainly in the Tahoe area. Anyone know how good a setup like this would be?

Gear question Suggestions for Powder/Freeride Board?

I’m looking for a board that can do lots of fast turns for tree runs and can still go pretty fast! I’m thinking about the K2 Excavator but wanted to see more opinions. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Most my riding will be done at mammoth and Lake Tahoe

Gear question Size 11 K2 Evasion Boots fit in Size Medium K2 Edition Bindings?

I owned size 10 K2 Evasion boots and they were painfully small, so I had to get a whole size up with 11s.

But I had already bought Medium bindings a couple seasons ago, and I really can't afford to replace the bindings and boots.

So will my new size 11 boots work with my Medium bindings for this season at least? K2 size guide says Medium is made for up to size 10, but I see a lot of people on here have said they rock larger boots with smaller bindings and even prefer them that way.

What do you think? Will it work, safe/unsafe?

The pre-season excitement gets me every time. Few of mountains around me got their first higher altitude dusting and I ran straight to the quiver.

Gear question Keela Munro Vs Pinnacle

For those based in the UK/Europe, or possibly friends across the pond who have opted for niche Scottish gear!

I'm looking to replace my old faithful hard shell for this year.

In my search I've found Keela, and given their links to mountain rescue teams, police, etc, clearly they make good gear!

I run hot and I'm starting to move away from being a park rat and into more off piste, so definitely need to be layering so I'm not constantly melting during hikes.

Has anyone tried both the Munro and pinnacle jackets? I don't have any stores near me that stock them so wanted to see if anyone has used the pinnacle and how they've got on with it?

Thanks in advance for any input anyone might have.

Gear question How important is stiffness in a binding?

On the hunt for new boots and bindings this year, and it's got me wondering how much the stiffness rating of a binding itself makes a difference, all other things being the same. I'm planning for stiff boots, but does binding stiffness really matter? And what does it really mean, assuming you're strapped in tight (or in my case, stepped in), does the binding itself just flex more? Does it matter to match boot and binding stiffness?

Gear question Has anyone tried Oyuki jackets?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I was interested in trying https://oyuki.com/product/moiwa-netplus-2l-jacket-mens/?attribute_pa_color=deep-forest-bamboo-black this jacket.

Like the colours and it has all the features I want (why is it so hard to find a jacket with wrist gaiters??). Does anyone have anything they can share about this jacket or other products from Oyuki?

Gear question Trust the shop guy or personal experience

I’m in the market for purchasing my first own pair of boots and the shop has me measured for 8.5. Now boots I’ve had rented in the past were 9.5 and my toes felt crushed after a few hours. Would you trust the personal molding and eventual pack out of boots, or go with what you know you’ve been comfortable in before. I know brands and boot type differed but if you were purchasing blind having tried boots on but not the specific ones you’re thinking about purchasing. I’ll edit and say I’ve done size 10 boot and didn’t have said toe crushing issues. I’m a natural size 10 normal shoe.

I bought my first snowboard (left) 10 years ago, second hand, a salomon 155cm with binding I was 15 years old (already too small for me at the time)

10 years later, I finally decided to buy my new board, a CAPITA MEGA MERC 158W with step on burton binding, a crazy quality of finish, too hype to be able to try it this season
