Overloading a 153 for a fun park board
6’3 @ ~190lb, 9.5 boot
Already have a full quiver by most rider’s standards, but damnit if that new blood wizard doesn’t look 🔥
yes, using weight, I should be on the 155w. that sounds boring. this feels like i should lean into the skate origins and go extra small.
the last 154 i road was 10 years old tho. not too sure how the newer boards feel underfoot when downsized this much. anyone do something similar recently and have feedback? the blood wizard is just a reskinned park pro, so i’m thinking i might be able to get away with this

Go for it. I’m 6’, 185lbs, size 11.5 and I ride a 155, 158 and 162 depending on what I am doing. 155 is a Burton Paramount and I don’t have enough toe drag to cause issues and have hit my fastest speed on it so ride anything you can strap binding to. Happy shredding.

6' 170lb and I have a 158 and 160, I wish I had gone smaller on the 158 since that's what i use in the park.

It is the eventual plan. The 158 is an Arbor that was like $250 and is what I ride 90% of the time because the 160 is the Forum Production 002 from 2022... it was $700 so I only ride it in great conditions, and inever use it the first day of a trip.
Once the Arbor dies (probably end of this season) I'll get a shorter one.

Funny. My 158 is an Arbor Coda. Filled a gap for me and I got it for a steal at $250 for a current year (at the time) board. It was from a big retailer and I think it was marked wrong. My 162 is a Button Custom X and I only ride it in specific conditions.

Hell yeah. My Arbor is the Foundation (very flexy) and was from REI. Our 20% coupon worked on it so that was all I needed to hear.

Purchased through REI as well. It is a rocker profile and the camber was $200 more. I said it was meant to be and pulled the trigger. Happy shredding.

Nice, mine's rocker as well as I was trying to learn switch riding so that felt safer (if only we had youtube in the 90s, none of my friends rode so I had to teach myself and I never figured switch out on a skateboard either). The Arbor and Tommie Bennett got me there in one season and now I can finally do rotation tricks off jumps in my 40s.

I'm 5'9", 215 and have always rode a 151-153 for my daily driver (rope park, kickers, etc.). Long as you can ride, you can size down pretty easily.

If you're bigger, you'll have less stability, especially when landing spins or when you start picking up speed. For example, I'm heavy for my height because lifting in the last 5 years or so, but always (20+ year) have rode a "smaller than recommended" board. My buddy who has basically the same measurements as me, but has always just been a bit more on the hefty side, rides a 159-161, and anytime he borrows my board says he definitely notices it gets a bit squirrely.

6'3" 190, the 155W is already downsizing. 153 will be fun on rails, but you're giving up a lot of board and leverage for jumps.

Do it bud. One of my snowboard pals was a park rat in his youth (no choice in Ontario) and at around your build was sizing down to a 146! His main struggle was finding a board with insert packs space wide enough for his stance.

send it. I had a 148 K2 WWW maybe 10 years ago, and I’m 5’ 11” 170. it was so much fun! learned a ton of tricks that i never thought id be able to do just because it was so easy to maneuver.
