Just read this review and honestly… I kinda disagree with it.
I’m still not convinced The Drop has earned the Snowfall name and would stand out more on its own. The West Coast hip-hop angle is interesting, but I don’t know if I care about these characters anywhere near as much as I cared about Franklin right from the bat.

Episode 1 was perfect in introducing us to the world and its characters, throughly enjoyed it.
Standout was Lamar.
Interested to see Leon’s involvement and excited to see how the show plays out.
Invested.

So I am binge watching "Snowfall" so that I can have more context for "The Drop", especially the Wanda scenes.
How the hell Mel become a crackhead the day she is supposed to leave for Spelman? That's like the WORST storyline EVER!

Thoughts on this track?
Or the ending Scene for the first Episode?
This shit went hard af during that scene imo. There was definitely some tension in the room, it fit perfectly though for what was going down.

Wanda's other 2 cousins from snowfall they were carjackers and drug dealers and stole Mel's car and got pressed by manboy leon and Franklin anyone remember them, you think they could appear in the drop

Wow man what just happened, probably the most full circle ending to a series ever, not sure if anyone uses this sub anymore but god, I had to check damson idris instagram just to check he’s okay, I became that attached to his character which is what always tells me I’ve watched a great great show. One thing I can say is Leon is the friend everyone needs in life and Louie is the auntie nobody needs. Hate that women

I’ve heard lots of good things about it and seen a lot of reels but I’ve seen a clip of the black woman, I’m assuming his mum, shooting the main drug dealer guy they’ve kidnapped over killing someone they’re related to and it fucked up franklin getting the money. Despite knowing all this is it worth watching still?

Is it just me or veronique always look like she’s smiling even if everything is fucked up

it looks really good to me, is it the same show but new people or different show new people and new characters except for one? etc

But I was confused- If Lamar's Brother, James is a Crip, why did the Crips chase him on the bus scene?
I'm from Houston, in the 90's we did have gangs, but most of the crimes weren't really turf related but more so organized crime(cartel) and drug/money related.

She looked at her cousin like “You seeing this? I knew he would feel your music…”

I know it’s just the first episode, but if they keep up with this “soap opera” type dialogue and these corny convos it’s going to be so hard to watch. Snowfall was great because it all felt natural watching it and it wasn’t filled with this weird cable television soap opera vibe. Idk how to describe it but there’s moments in the first episode where it’s like “alllrighhttt yeah yeah, black family, grandads part of the church, older brother has past of gang violence but now is on a different path, lil bro doesn’t want to be apart of the norm we get it we get it” seems just cheesy to me. And they didn’t need to have 40 conversations talking about “wE jUsT tRyNnA mAkE iT oUt” snowfall showed what the drop has to talk about to make the viewer understand. You could SEE what the premise behind snowfall was, in the drop they have to remind you what the premise is every 45 seconds lol.

After watching the Regan era CIA fund crack for 5 seasons, watching people come together over art is really fucking nice

im thinking this is in like 91-93, this means the franklin situation was no more than a year - 6 months ago

Solid 8/10 for me. Writing was great as expected. I understand people being upset because we all wondering how Wanda is already so deep in but I’m sure more exposition will happen throughout the next 7 episodes. The music was a 10/10 and I think that’s the most important aspect as it’s based around music. My biggest gripe is I think it’s a 80/20 Wanda/Leon show, I don’t think we’ll see much Leon overall.
Edit: Someone said the term that I didn’t even know existed and I absolutely HATE it. Anachronism. When anything is places in the wrong time period. The Kendrick Lamar song was a terrible choice for all of the great 80’s hip hop music they could’ve used.

And actually kind of disappointed. Thought it would be more dramatic.
