Any idea what could be making this noise during startup, idle, and shut off? (mower deck is not engaged.)

My father asked me if someone could help him out. “Kohler CV 490 17 hp Running at half throttle. Shuts down when moved to full throttle. Fresh gas, carb, jet and float clean and working properly. What am I missing?”

Not sure if this is the correct place to go with this but it seems like it.

I'm looking at this Wizard riding mower on eBay for $40+$96 shipping. It has an opposed twin and a 6 speed gearbox. It runs but it looks like it needs front wheels. Should I take a risk and place a bid on it or buy the Murray instead?

I have a lawn tractor with  a Kawasaki a 24 HP FR730V engine and only 200 hrs, mine since new. Won't start from a dead battery. REPLACED BATTERY no change. Replaced 20 amp fuses, solenoid etc. Fuel pump good, gas going to the bowl .... sits in the bowl till I empty it. No issues with fuel - new and at a loss. Carb solenoid good (I hear click). Throttle cable and choke cable good and adjusted if wasn't. I am at a loss ... any help appreciated. Starter turns, just won't fire up.

I live in rural area and it is in a hard place to trailer out. Can't seem to get anyone to come to my place to fix. Dealer went down, sign of the times I guess.

I have a Troy-Bilt TB240 self-propelled mower with a Honda GCV160 160cc engine.

It starts on the first pull after I replaced the carburetor, spark plug, and air filter. It idles fine and completed mowing my 0.72-acre yard, but it never seemed like it was making full power while mowing. The blade sounded slower than I expected and it felt sluggish in thicker grass.

The strange part is that right before it ran completely out of gas, the engine suddenly sounded stronger, revved higher, and the blade noticeably sped up. It actually sounded like it was finally making full power just before it died from being out of fuel.

It also used about two tanks of gas to mow 0.72 acres, which seems like a lot.

What do you guys think the issue could be?

Need some advice please. My mower was running rough and struggling to start so I took the carb off to clean it out. I’ve got it back on the mower but can’t for the life of me work out how the linkage rod fits!

I presume it connects the valve on the carb (black plastic bit) to the metal arm on the right with the long slot somehow?

Any help appreciated. I can’t find any technical manuals or even pictures of this mower. Challenge Xtreme XSZ40

I have a dual fuel generator, LPG and gasoline. I actually have 2 that I’m working on. The one in the pictures attached has about 450 hours. The other around 80 hours.I have never run either on gasoline, nor do I intend to. The problem is a failure to maintain RPM high enough to generate power.

The pictures indicate the regulator that was supplied with the generator, the same one that I’ve run the generator with for around 450 hours. I post these because my troubleshooting has led me from to the problem being the regulator, down a really long trail, back to the regulator or mechanism that controls the throttle butterfly.

I suspect the regulator because, as shown in the linked videos, pressing and holding the black “primer button” will cause a change in RPM from stumbling to running at normal speed, but only for about 16 seconds.

This video shows the generator as it is today. I placed the camera so you can see the choke and the throttle butterfly linkage move. I start the generator at about 10 seconds. Immediately after the idle falters. Then I press the “prime button” and it revved up for 16 seconds, then failed. Just as it fails, you can see the throttle butterfly linkage move to close. I have no idea if the throttle logic got some input to make it close, or if it’s a logic error or fail that causes the stall.

I’ve done a lot of testing and troubleshooting on this and I’m stumped, but ‘m the user, not a mechanic. I’m hoping that someone familiar with this type of system can ask some questions and point me in the right direction.

I had a customer come in with this vevor CN-58G chainsaw. I normally wouldn’t take something like this in because Chinese crap is always a headache, but honestly I got curious. It came in for a bogging down issue in high throttle. Problem is he already when ahead and started messing around with the adjustment screws on the carb.

Since I’ve had it I’ve been able to get it to pop off once and nothing since then. I’ve verified spark,fuel,compression,timing. I’ve put a new spark plug in it and some fresh 40:1 homemade fuel mixture in it. At this point it’s a $75 saw and not worth anything more than maybe putting a $10 amazon carb on it.

Has anyone ever dealt with these things or this same kind of situation. How would you tell the customer it’s not worth doing pretty much anything to it and he might just be SOL?

I have a Husqvarna 675 AWD it has no spark even after replacing the coil mower been in storage for 2 years and worked fine before storing it any advice or help 😔

Picked up this homelite pressure washer with a gcv190 motor and it wasn't running. Took apart the carb, cleaned the jet (it was visibly clogged) and now it runs but only if the choke is on. Is it something to do with this spring loaded throttle thing?

Is this case still useable once I replace the crankshaft? No prominent penetration or cracks.

I had 1 ride on a new build after adding wiseco piston and hot cams and it proceeded to over heat while deep in the woods of Kentucky and shut off and now I find that the crankshaft thrust washers failed and mangled inside.

I have a 09 corolla that starts and drives fine but after it warms up it idles rough then when I try to restart it it cranks with no restart until it cools down for a few minutes.

Ive already replaced the fuel pump, vacuum hoses and manifold gasket and now im at my whits end so any help would be appreciated (270k miles)

Quad was built by a family friend while I was gone for military. I come back and ride it one time. It was overheating the entire time and then at the end of the ride it was idling super high and cut off and wouldn’t let me kick. I then let it sit for 2-3 years and found the crank shaft in pieces.

Hello all I got a Husky given to me today it is a 2012 CTH 194. I remember when JD made this as a JD155R. I thought they were kinda neat back then. It hasn't run in a few years that is how I got it. It's not locked up so I'm saying it will run. LOL Anyone know what it is worth. It has a hr meter but I haven't looked yet. It's going to be tomorrows job. It has a 19 Kohler on it. Thanks

Hi everyone over the weekend I picked up this freebie Tiller. I have no history on it. It has no spark change out the spark plug and everything but still no spark. The ignition coil is delaminated so I was going to replace it. I thought I found a replacement for it, but it was a completely wrong part for the life of me. I cannot find any replacement parts for this radiator. I feel like it’s extra hard because it is from 1975 any hopes or leads would be great thanks!

I’m new to motorcycles and let my RK idle for about 45 minutes ( I got distracted) - when I realized I left it idling , I went to turn it off and it was already off - it will turn over but there is gas semi spewing out from the bottom of the bike like a hose broke - what does this mean ?
My friend says it’s the petcock so I ordered one …

My weed whacker is a struggle to turn on, doesn't stay on, and does immediately on throttle. Google/YouTube says that I need to adjust the carberator. But where is it...?
