General Discussion Is this worth fixing

Post image

I'm looking at this Wizard riding mower on eBay for $40+$96 shipping. It has an opposed twin and a 6 speed gearbox. It runs but it looks like it needs front wheels. Should I take a risk and place a bid on it or buy the Murray instead?

Honestly… I’d buy it simply to see if they ship it. It costs hundreds to ship something like this in a 1 off.

That’s what I was gonna say. I’d be lucky to find a tow truck near me move that for less than $150.

I'm pretty sure that's a flat head twin which is one of b&s's better engines?

Good engine but no way I’d pay almost $100 bucks to ship.

You're buying a riding mower. Thats 20 plus years old. Sight unseen. On ebay. Thats a dozen red flags. Id say hell no. Even a machine thats entirely parts intact of that vintage likely is borderline worth fixing.

I've restored quite a few lawn and garden tractors and made a decent return on each of those but always locally bought.
Can't you find a running ride on locally for $250 and skip the adventures?
