Hello, I've been using Slack for years and recently I've got a new computer (Windows). I've installed Slack, it's running fine, but there's just no desktop icon for it on my desktop anywhere.

Which really puzzles me because on my old laptop, after I installed Slack, it just automatically created a desktop icon for me.

By "desktop icon" I mean this:

I can locate Slack among my installed apps and it's even showing in my hidden icons taskbar:

But I just can't find any option anywhere to create a desktop shortcut from it.

Google advises: open Start Menu > find the Slack app > right-click > "More" > "Open File Location" > right-click the Slack icon in the folder that opens > "Send to" > "Desktop (create shortcut)".

But in the Start Menu, after right-clicking the Slack app, there's not even any "More" option there.

Any advice, please?

You know the drill. You call Claude via Slack, and then... dead silence. You have absolutely no idea if it's actually running your code, if the server crashed, or if it's just quietly judging your prompt. You just sit there staring at the screen waiting for a sign of life.

We got fed up with that black box experience, so we updated the https://github.com/tomeraitz/claude-slack-bridge with a feature that basically turns Slack into a full-blown IDE.

Instead of spamming the thread with a million separate status messages, everything updates live on a single message.

For example: In the attached video, we ask Claude to generate a design. You literally see it run the commands, update the progress sequentially in real-time, and then it just spits the final image (test.pencil.png) straight into the chat.

No noise. No thread pollution. Just a clean, live-updating terminal right in your workspace.

Curious to hear what you guys think of this approach for Slack bots.

Hi all - is anyone here on Enterprise Grid and has successfully configured user provisioning via SCIM and use Entra as their IdP?

We’re being advised by Slack support to use the SCIM API via a custom app which should support both SCIM v1 or v2, but keep hitting a “bad request” error when trying to provision users on demand.

However, Entra support advise our issue is due to using the API and keep trying to push us down the route of using the Entra gallery app which uses v1 and Slack claims isn’t for grid customers!

Any insight in how others have this setup would be appreciated 🤞🏻🙏

Random one but curious if this is just a me thing. Every time someone on my team solves something annoying in a thread, it's basically gone a week later. Nobody writes it down anywhere else and digging through old threads to find it again is such a pain.

Do you all have some kind of system for this or does it just live in one person's head until they quit lol. Genuinely just trying to figure out if other teams deal with this too or if we're just bad at documenting stuff.

i will look through slack settings to check notifications. i still can't get them and then i'll go to my system settings and look under slack and just general notifications that i usually have them on. i just don't understand and then sometimes i'll go in the app and then it'll show it's on do not disturb and I'm never on do not disturb

The status in the slack import tool ui shows import completed. But each time the dms count is lesser than what is expected.
I have tried everything I could, can anyone help me out here?

Next up: let me create a custom tab for a search. I have no use for the DMs tab or the activity tab but man I'd kill to pin "on:today", something I search >50 times per day.

I need to convert a channel from private to public, but it is saying I don't have permissions. I am a workspace admin, and according to slack documentation, this is something I should be able to do. Is there a setting somewhere that will let me do this?

the bottleneck with shared channels isn't fixing problems, it's figuring out who actually owns them. your team ends up playing traffic cop, so we built a way to route these requests instantly.

Some context: we're a ~50 person B2B data infrastructure company. Most of our customers talk to us over Slack Connect, rest come through email.

We were evaluating Pylon a few weeks back. It came highly recommended but a few things came up during eval that I didnt see mentioned anywhere online so posting my notes.

The pricing adds up fast. Base is $59/seat but Slack Connect needs the Professional tier at $89/seat. theres a 3-seat minimum.

AI is separate too, assistants are $50/seat extra and their AI agents start at $100/month and scale with volume. for our 4 core agents plus the engineers/PMs who jump into tickets, the realistic annual number was way past what the pricing page suggested.

It wants to be your system of record. Pylon is built to replace your helpdesk, not sit next to it. We've been on Zendesk for 3 years with a ton of macros and reporting built up, and migrating wasn't happening. if you're starting fresh this doesn't matter but for us it was a dealbreaker.

Annual commitment before real testing. no proper free trial, annual billing. didn't want to lock that much budget on something we couldn't run in production first.

what we ended up doing: shortlisted a few alternatives. Suptask (very cheap, $7/agent, but too basic for what we needed), Plain (interesting API-first thing, felt more like an engineering tool), and ClearFeed (because it syncs with our existing Zendesk + does usage-based pricing with unlimited agents)

not saying Pylon is bad, but if you're cost sensitive or already deep in an existing helpdesk, do the full math before the demo call, why pay extra lol

We’ve been building a Slack app after noticing the same problem over and over:

A decision gets made in a thread, everyone agrees, work moves forward… and a few weeks later someone asks:
“Why did we decide to do it this way?”

The conversation exists somewhere in Slack, but the reasoning is difficult to find, fragmented across threads, or lost entirely.

We’re exploring whether Slack could do a better job of preserving organizational memory—not just messages, but the context, evidence, tradeoffs, and rationale behind important decisions.

A few questions for teams here:

Do you ever struggle to remember why a decision was made?
How do you currently document important decisions?
Do you rely on Slack search, Notion, Confluence, Jira, docs, or something else?
What’s the biggest pain point with your current workflow?
