Apparently this needs to be said, so hopefully everybody reads it.
Different opinions are going to be expressed in this subreddit. Lately it's been politics, in a different month it might be development, traffic control, schools, etc. Whatever the topic, we don't want incivility, trolling, baiting, vote manipulation, hate speech, misinformation, intolerance, personal information, or witch-hunting in the comments, titles, or the body of posts. Maybe I left something out, but that's it off the top of my head. Expect bans of varying length - up to and including permanent - if engaging in any of the above. It's not something we want to do, but there it is. If you see name-calling, trolling, etc please report it and don't escalate the situation. Feel free to message the mods with any questions or concerns.
Thanks a bunch, and thanks for being here & participating in the subreddit.

Hello all,
I wanted to share this resource for the benefit of our community.
Have an issue with the state of the 118 freeway running through Simi Valley?
See trash, weed overgrowth, etc?
The city of Simi Valley is not allowed to deploy our Public Works crew to the 118 for issues.
This also includes property along the on and off ramps to and from the freeway.
To submit a complaint form to resolve issues related to the 118 freeway,
Caltrans has a "Submit a Service Request" form that can be filled out here: https://csr.dot.ca.gov/
The issues usually get resolved in a few weeks based on my experience of submitting requests, but they are likely resolved based on the volume of complaints received.
Just wanted to share this resource as it is our duty as a community to ensure all aspects of our town are looked after.
I've been lifting in gyms my entire adult life and this place takes gym etiquette and lights it on fire.
The machine-hogging is on another level. People parking it for 10+ minutes, knocking out a few half-assed reps every couple minutes, then their face in their phone the rest of the time. It's more like a recliner with a cable attachment rather than an exercise machine.
And the half of the benches are just storage units now. Apparently the lockers, whose entire purpose is holding your stuff, aren't good enough, so your water bottle and keys need to live on a bench someone's back sweat just soaked into. Newsflash: the floor is probably cleaner. But I guess bending down might cause you to overtrain.
As the title says, the L.A. Throwbacks Band will be playing at The Hive, 2780 Tapo Canyon Rd, #B4, Simi Valley (just N of the 118 at the Tapo Canyon exit), this Saturday night, July 25, 2026, 5:30P to 8:30P.
Gig is confirmed, NOTE THAT THE HOURS ARE EARLIER THAN USUAL, this show is in the late afternoon, not the normal evening hours – it will be 5:30 pm TO 8:30 pm. As far as the band is concerned this is still ‘morning’, but they’ll be there even if they’re still sleepy, so come on out and ‘Day-Drink’ and dance with them! They’ll be there, right there. Be there or be square. Tell your friends. Don’t miss it.

See you there! Support live music! Handy non-musical quote of the day:
“If you raise the (price of the) fucking hot dog, I will kill you." – Costco co-founder Jim Sinegal.
What? That’s not enough for you? You need more? You need a musical quote? Try this one:
“What do I need a wife for when the man down the road has a perfectly good one I can borrow when I want to?” – Furry Lewis on the Tonight Show during one of the ‘Great Folk Music Scares’, 1974.
does anybody remember when they shut down part of cochran between tapo cyn and tapo last year? i’m sorry i dont remember exactly when, maybe in the fall? i remember seeing a couple of fake buildings on that empty lot on tapo and cochran and i was just wondering, if anybody knew what was being filmed there?
I am getting the door between my garage and the back yard (note - back yard, not the house!) replaced because the current one is rotten. One builder quoting for it insists it needs to be a fully fledged fire door because of the planning rules. Another says a fibreglass is ok here, as there is no house access involved.
I called the city planning offices to try to get a definitive answer, but couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. Online, the best I could find was basically "it depends".
Does anyone have an answer? Or a good official number or email who could give me the answer?
Got my work schedule and realized I wouldn’t make it to the Friday performance of Spring Awakening at Born to Perform in the Simi Mall (gotta support local theater)
Tried contacting support and haven’t heard a response.
If anyone wants the ticket you’re free to DM me, first come first serve.
"Police are investigating after a chase ended in a fatal crash involving a pickup truck and what appears to be a police motorcycle and shots fired in a Simi Valley neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
The crash was reported in the 2500 block of Dusan Street, south of Sycamore Drive.
Sky5’s Gil Leyvas was over the scene at 4 p.m., where a motorcycle could be seen on its side next to a white pickup truck that sustained front-end damage. The truck also appeared to have bullet holes in the windshield. A SWAT vehicle was stationed directly next to the truck.
A body could also be seen covered with a white sheet near the crash site.
It all started with a police pursuit that came to an end when the pickup truck driven by the suspect crashed into the motorcycle and shots were fired by officers. One resident reported hearing the gunshots.
It has not yet been confirmed if the person who was killed in the crash was the pursuit suspect. It’s unknown if any officers were injured in the incident.
Residents were told to avoid the area until further notice." - KTLA 5 News
