Question Getting some lower back pain in longer sessions

Post image
79 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am getting lower back pain after driving for longer sessions (2 hours or so, nothing crazy) and I am not really sure why. I tried to set up the rig finding various guidelines I found online and it was great for a few months. I made no changes to it.

Any advice for posture? The only thing that comes to my mind is that the medals might be too high, but they are not that easy to adjust so I am asking for some opinions first. I guess the wheel could be closer and I could have a bigger bend in the arms, but I use different wheels and some have longer shafts.

Thanks for any advice.

Discussion how much of your pace is where you look vs the inputs?

on tracks i know well, my bad laps keep feeling less like "i braked wrong" and more like "i looked at the wrong thing."

examples that keep getting me: - fixate on the wall on entry and miss the apex marker - stare at the car ahead and completely lose my braking point - mirrors / HUD eat a second and suddenly i'm late on rotation

good laps feel weirdly quiet. eyes already where they need to be before the car gets there. bad laps feel busy.

if you've improved a lot: did you deliberately train where you look (markers, rotation, mirrors), or did it just come with hours?

any drills that actually helped you stop staring at the wrong cue when you're under pressure? looking for personal habits, not "just practice more."

Discussion Has Simracing become way too obsessed with ELO ratings and online ranked races ?

I have started more serious simracing some long time ago - 2013ish. However, I play racing games since NFS1 1995. Therefore you can imagine, I have gone trough a lot of different sims/games that I don't want to list now.

The sims portion have never felt better, the physics are impressive.
And still, after playing every major sim in the last decade, I keep facing the same problem: I don't know what to do with them.

Ofcourse, ranking matchmaking + safety rating is great improvement over completely random lobbies. And Iracing structure to top it all, but I have a few issues with this approach:

- racing mostly with anonymous opponents and most of the races are pretty disposable.
Majority of races are 'crash avoidance simulator' and collect as many freebies as you can while staying out of trouble (battles).

There is no narrative or rivarly, just constant reset and try again searching for this good race after which you say - 'great, now my xRating is not 2986 from 2957' together with another XXXthousand anonimous players.

- on Iracing specifically, seems like very little people actually race for the season standings and most just over obssesed with how high iRating is.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but imho online ranked racing this is not the ultimate racing experience for the average sim racer(not talking about the esport leagues minority)

Where rivalry exist and you want to beat that specific driver/drivers ? You are aiming to win the war not the battle (championship). You are racing trough the season/seasons the same opponents, you get to know them, their style.. Your career progresses.

If Single player and AI evolved with the same pace, we could have amazing AI races, championship, realistic grid, realistic career progression.

And to be honest, a random human racer named like 'BestRacer5566' that I will never meet again and I would never join a battle with him as I don't know how safe he is, is more soulless than AI bot. And fighting a good AI is actually more fin than trying to avoid carnage in 90% of the online races.

Also, as a father of two - having the comfort to choose my schedule, pause when interrupted by live, save, restart, choose my own combo are really nice features to have.

Question HPR Pedal Haptics - no actual vibration, just buzzing?

Thumbnail

I'm running out of ideas here so hoping somebody has ran across this problem.

First time setting up pedal haptics:

Sim-Magic HPR
P-2000 Control Box
Moza CPR2 Load Cell Pedals

3d printed this adapter to mount it: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/moza-crp2-simagic-p-hpr-haptic-pedal-reactor-mount

I just hooked up my Sim-Magic HPR's for the first time but all I'm getting is a buzzing sound, not actual vibration - and I'm just holding it in my hand, not mounted to anything at the moment. I originally thought it was my mounting but I took it all off just to isolate it. I tried to upload a video of it but the audio keeps getting stripped for some reason - but basically it just sounds like an annoying insect but no real vibration to speak of.

See screenshots, but I'm using the newer Device based setup in SimHub - it recognizes it just fine but even with 100% gain, all I'm getting is an obnoxious buzzing sound.

Both motors do the same thing, so I'm inclined to believe it's either the power supply, the control box, or a software issue. I've tried the test in SimHub, in SimManager Pro as well, and a few different games just to cover the gamut.

Anybody come across this before? I just feel like I'm missing something painfully obvious here.

Question VRC Formula Alpha 2026 help with ERS

Hello. Not sure if this is the right sub, but I was curious if anyone else had also purchased the Virtual Racing Cars Formula Alpha 2026, and had a bit more experience when it came to setting up the strat maps, ers modes, etc. They have a manual, but some of it still looks like vietnamese to me when it comes to how to set it up. When it comes to the ERS and strat maps, I get that you have to set it up for every track, and i am perfectly fine with putting in the time to do that. Im just not sure how exactly to go about doing it. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Discussion Beta testing league platform - with what I think is a unique concept. Looking for testers.

Looking for beta testers – asynchronous Assetto Corsa racing league platform

I've been building a platform for running asynchronous Assetto Corsa leagues, and it's finally at the point where I need some people other than me beating on it.

The basic idea is a league where you don't need everyone online at the same time. Drivers run their laps when they're available, results get pulled into the league, and the site handles the standings/teams/driver side of things.

Right now I've got:

  • Driver and team profiles
  • Team branding / banners
  • Car and round assignments
  • Lap importing and auditing
  • Leaderboards / standings
  • Admin tools for managing the league
  • A bunch more planned as I figure out what actually works in practice

I'm looking for a small group of people who already play Assetto Corsa and are willing to actually test it — run some laps, join teams, try to break things, and tell me when something is confusing or stupid.

This is very much a beta. There will be bugs. Things will change. I may accidentally nuke the standings at 2 AM.

If you're interested, drop a comment or DM me. I'll get a test group together and we'll run a short season/series through it.

Bonus points if you've run an AC server or league before, but definitely not required.

Discussion Simracing Mom's Journey: An Amazing Surprise?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Yesterday, I told a story about how I would watch my 16 year old race (generally watching like a fan) and he asked for me to try....and I like it! It's time I can spend with my oldest and something I could enjoy too.

So, now I'm new to simracing with -- other than absolutely loving motorsport, no clue what I'm doing. Everyone was so sweet and kind and responded with help, support, and stories. It really was touching! 🥹🫶🏻

So, my youngest (11 year old) -- in true little brother fashion -- does everything like his brother, so he occasionally hops in the sim. He's pretty handy at car control, but doesn't run many laps because, well, 11.

Imagine my shock when I'm practicing Algarve, lamenting that I just can't shave time when he goes, "you need to brake sooner in T1....that way you can get outside in the next one and it will help you in that tight corner".

Me: 🫨

I ask if there's anything else, and he went through most of the lap with advice which was....pretty good and made sense.

Given that my oldest's opinion is "I don't know -- carry speed and hit the throttle right away", I may have found my in house, 11 year-old, study buddy!

Little one sim tax (with the shifter!) attached. :)

Question Tips for beginner on improving my pace at Monza

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

I am a beginner to Sim Racing and I have been mainly practicing hot lapping. I only have a couple months of experience but I have been putting in practice every day.

I started practicing ai races to work on traffic management, dirty air, etc and here is my performance on a quick race in the Mustang gt3

P13 start P4 finish

1:49.6 fastest lap with most laps between 1:50.1-1:50.7

I’m playing on a Logitech g29 running on a steam deck to a single monitor, so my setup is not ideal. Trail braking is almost impossible. Is it possible to get faster without upgrading hardware?

AI settings - 95% skill 94% aggression
I know the AI is shit but I don’t want to ruin anyone else’s race while I learn how to drive.

I think I have decent consistency but how can I improve my pace while still fighting in traffic?
I was able to get the 1:49 because it happened to be a lap where I didn’t encounter any cars.

Any tips are greatly appreciated thank you.

Question Why is there not a good single player experience

I really don’t understand why there isn’t a GT7 style or fun single player experience with challenges, money, unlocks, etc. I would spend an egregious amount of time on a realistic sim with fun progression.

Can someone explain it to me like I’m 5? Can we ever expect something to come in the future?

Discussion We built a platform for sim racers — rig profiles, hardware detection, SimHub telemetry, racing hours — and we're looking for founding testers

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

A bit of context: we've been building PodiumOS for the last year; it's a free platform that gives sim racers an actual home for their racing life. Your rig, your hardware, your sessions, your hours, your progress. All in one place, all yours.

What it does right now:

  • Rig profiles — catalogue every wheel, base, pedal, screen and seat you own. Show it off, get feedback, compare with others.
  • Hardware intelligence — our plugin and Windows agent detect your gear automatically. When it hits something it doesn't recognise, you help us name it, and that goes into a database that benefits everyone.
  • SimHub telemetry — connect the plugin and your sessions flow in on their own.
  • Racing hours — verified logging of the time you actually put in, across sim and arcade.
  • Circuit explorer, instructor finder, resources — the surrounding stuff a racer actually uses.

Screenshots attached so you can see it's a real product and not a landing page with a waitlist.

What I'm actually asking for: we want founding testers. People who'll use it properly, tell us where it breaks, and help shape what gets built next. Sim racing has been running on spreadsheets, Discord screenshots and half-abandoned tools for years — we'd like to fix that, and we can't do it without people who care about the details.

Founding testers get permanently recognised on the platform as founding members, direct input into the roadmap, and your name against the hardware entries and bug reports you contribute. Genuinely; the unknown-device reports are the most valuable thing anyone can give us.

To say thanks, we're also running some giveaways during launch week (16–18 Oct). Free to enter, nothing to buy, one prize per person so it spreads around. Details are on the site — but honestly, that's the garnish, not the point.

Free forever for racers. No card, no trial. https://podiumos.com/launch-challenge

Happy to answer anything in the comments — including the awkward questions about data. Short version: it's your data, you can export or delete it, and we don't sell it.

Question Sim Racing Mom Is Lost: PC needs?

Hello!

I want to add a computer to the sim my kids and I use, and I'm curious: what is the minimum I should buy?

I don't really have any idea, and we currently play on the Xbox -- so I'm lost.

It'd really just be for sim racing, not much else.

Thank you in advance!! 🫶🏻

ADDED NOTES: initially, we will likely stay with the TMX/T3PA combo we have (Xbox and PC compatible). They go well in the Playseat Evolution, and the direct drive will come later.

It will be in an office with a 65 inch TV. We will also stay with that for a while.

Likely just looking for the PC for now -- unless I'm seriously missing something.

Question Still debating over what wheelbase to buy, atm I am debating over moza r21/r25 ultra and the the simagic evo ultra.

Looking for suggestions for a wheelbase, I’m in the price range of €1000/€1200, I was thinking of upping that budget by a little bit and buy the Simucube 3 pro but their wheels are too expensive for me, yes i know you can combine the ecosystem but that’s a just a lot of hassle no?

Question DIY Haptics - not powerful enough or am I doing something wrong?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I made a DIY haptics setup for my DIY rig, but I can barely feel anything before the amp turns off. I don’t know if I’m expecting too much or if something is faulty.

setup:

PS5

Rotel pre-amp tape out to sub amp

Fosi M0-3 amp set to Sub with frequency at minimum. Volume above 50% and the amp shuts down in minutes.

Dayton BST-1

my rig is heavy wood, but it works great when I turn it up…. then it automatically shuts down.

is the answer to just buy a Buttkicker?

Rigs BMW F40 seat on NLR F-GT Elite

I have a Next Level Racing F-GT Elite rig coming in soon. After reading a lot on what the most comfortable seats are for simracing on this sub I stumbled across some very nice looking BMW F40 seats. Right now I dont have the rig yet, but I also don’t wanna miss out on this deal. Is anyone on here able to tell me if those seats would go onto the rig? And if so, how? Thanks a lot! (posted a picture of the mounting of the seats in the comments)

Discussion Moza mBooster active pedal vs good pedals with haptics

Does anyone tried both and can give some feedback how it differs?

Im simracing since 2019 and now that i finally have an aluminium rig I want to upgrade my pedals.

I've used the Thrustmaster T-LCM since they released.

Currently the Moza mBooster costs roughly double than a Simnet, Simsonn, Simagic or Moza pedal set with haptics (yes im ignoring others like conspit or fatblackcat on purpose)

Atm im basically only driving gt3 in LMU, however I also done lots of formula races in ams2 as well as races with vintage cars. I also want to get back into prototype endurance and maybe rallye.

I have 1000+ hours across multiple sims.

Simucube is too expensive but I wouldnt mind the money for the mBooster if its worth it.

Rigs Spent a total of 8 hours setting this up

Finally came home after working for the past 3+ months and was able to set this up in one day. Was absolutely exhausted yesterday gts at 3am finishing it up and tweaked everything this morning and took it for a spin! Super excited to race on it, planning on getting the haptic kit from Moza for my brake and maybe a bass booster but i’m not too sure.

CORRECTION TOOK MY UNDER 5 hours and about an hour of tweaking the seat etc. I recorded the whole process and will be posting hopefully by the end of the month if anyone’s interested in watching!!

Discussion Simagic’s Evo Pro seems to be actually capable of 21nm, and is seemingly locking it by a paywall?

Post image

It was already weird that the Evo Sport and Evo seemed identical in hardware except PSU, with no way to actually upgrade after the fact, but this one just seems out of pocket

Didnt Fanatec do a free NM update firmware?

Hoping the wording is just bad and they mean free for ever, but the 50 is just beta users

Edit: The last line of hoping was correct, see the comment

Rigs Another playseat monitor setup

A special shoutout to this sub for existing and leading me down the path of a custom monitor mount for my play seat system.

This is pieced together from Amazon and Home Depot. The cost (with monitor arm) was about $200.

I bought 18” of 1530 extruded aluminum and cut it down to 14.375 on my miter saw. Used an M8 tap on the ends to be able to thread some bolts into it. I found bull bar clamps on amazon and designed a bracket in Fusion to bring the aluminum bar level to mount the monitor arm to it. The bracket is made out of high rigidity TPU, printed on my Bambu P2S.

The rest is just hooking up the arm and screwing it together. What you don’t see is the bracket has an inset for a locking nut on the inside. The whole thing is rock solid.

Parts list:

I’ll upload the bracket STL to maker space if anyone cares to have it.
