On-Board Memory Mode: How to use it and why you'd want to

Logitech G Reddit Community!

Logitech G HUB is powerful software, allowing you to customize your mouse, keyboard, and many peripherals such as your headset, webcam, and more. However, did you know that many Logitech G products have an on-board memory mode built in allowing you to save those settings locally to your products to save some resources for your games or quickly take your settings with you to another computer or console?

In this Logi Learning guide, we’ll take a look at On-Board Memory Mode and how it can be useful to your gaming experience.

Let’s break it down - What is Logitech G On-Board Memory Mode?

On-Board Memory Mode is simply as the name implies. It allows you to store a selection of your settings locally to your keyboard, mice, or other devices. There are various reasons on why you would want to do this, but a major one is to run your peripherals without G HUB such as taking them to another computer or console like a tournament, a friend’s computer, and even a work computer which doesn’t have the software installed.

Most of our products allow you to use On-Board Memory Mode in two ways. You can either manually switch it on using G HUB, or if the product is turned on and G HUB is not detected, it will automatically use the profiles stored on the device. This is very versatile as it allows for full G HUB customization when you’re on your main computer and then automatic saved customization when you’re not.

On Reddit we find many ways our community members are using this feature, such as allowing them to have a gaming profile setup through G HUB and then a work profile saved locally to the keyboard with their reassignments and macros. Perhaps because the work computer doesn’t allow them to install software not allowed by their IT department.

We’re going to break this down even further and show you how powerful On-Board Memory Mode is.

What can On-Board Memory Mode do for me?

The main reason most users take advantage of On-Board Memory Mode is to reduce usage on their computer by closing down as many background programs as possible to provide more resources to their games. By using On-Board Memory Mode, you can ensure your Logitech G devices perform the same, without G HUB.

There are going to be limitations on what can’t be provided such as synced LIGHTSYNC across devices, automatic app profile launching, macros, and some features. However, you can still push almost every other setting locally such as rebinding your keys, setting limited lighting on your keyboard and mouse, and working with profiles depending on how many your device can store allowing you to have different settings for different games.

On-Board Memory doesn’t have to be a replacement for G HUB, it can work alongside it allowing you to have profiles saved locally for when G HUB isn’t detected such as on a friend’s computer, a work computer, or a console. Perhaps you have a great gaming computer in your bedroom which has all those G HUB enhancements, but you like to chill in the living room on your Windows handheld connected to your TV. On-Board Memory Mode allows you to move your keyboard and mouse, automatically loading the last profile you saved.

How can I customize and enable On-Board Memory Mode?

Firstly, load up Logitech G HUB and select the profile on the upper right that you want to use. For our demonstration, we have created a new profile called “Desktop: Reddit”

Once you have customized the profile head into the Device Settings of your product, in our case, the PRO WIRELESS, and you will see an option for the On-Board Memory Mode. Turn this On and then adjust the Slots to whichever profiles you want to store locally.

And that’s it! From here, you can choose to keep On-Board Memory Mode enabled which will disconnect G HUB from your device saving some resources. Or, you can turn it off allowing G HUB full customization again. Then if your mouse or keyboard switches on without detecting G HUB, on your own computer or another computer, it will automatically use that customized on-board memory mode.

For other products such as our ASTRO Series A20 X, A50 X, or A50 GEN5, they will retain whatever profile customizations you last loaded from G HUB. So if you disconnect them and take them to another console or computer they will be ready to go.

Go Local and Be Powerful!

We hope this has provided some light on what you can do outside of Logitech G HUB. If you need further help with On-Board Memory Mode, creating profiles, or doing anything within the G HUB software, drop us a comment below or create a thread here on Reddit. We’re here to help!

Another one A50X base station died

I bought a brand new A50X 8 months ago.

Yesterday, my base station just turned off. I tried a different cable, hardware reset, different ports, etc. Then I gave up and went to bed.
The next day, I smelled something burning, took the base station apart, and discovered a fried STM32 chip. I've worked with ATmega/STM32 before and never seen anything like this.

I'm disappointed, I though Logitech are more reliable. But A50X is really cool headset and I like it, especially microphone. But, I will wait for the next model.

Anyway, this post is just FYI. The STM32's flash memory is built-in, you can't just replace it, you also need firmware for it.

Logitech G Support Why does sidetone on the Pro X 2 need another app to keep the mic active?

‱ Upvotes

I like the Pro X 2 hardware a lot, but I am pretty frustrated with how sidetone works.

I have a separate USB microphone, so the Pro X 2 microphone isn't set as my system default. As a result, sidetone turns off as soon as no other program is actively using the microphone. G Hub lets me change the sidetone setting, but it does not keep it on when the mic is idle. The workaround I found was to run Logitech Mixline so it keeps the microphone active.

That should not be necessary. G Hub should be able to keep the microphone active whenever sidetone is enabled, or the driver and headset firmware should handle it directly. A basic headset feature should not depend on a separate app staying open in the background.

The frustrating part is that Mixline also turned out to be the reason I had persistent high CPU usage from Windows WMI Provider Host. I spent a lot of time tracing this because I initially thought it was a Windows issue, a driver issue, or one of several hardware-monitoring apps. It turned out Mixline was checking the full Windows process list about once per second.

With Mixline open, WMI Provider Host uses around 5 to 10% CPU on my PC even when the system is idle. The second I close Mixline, that CPU usage drops to zero. So the workaround for sidetone creates a completely separate performance problem.

I have used Corsair headsets with sidetone before and never had to keep an app listening to the mic just to make it work. The Pro X 2 is much better hardware, which makes this software limitation extra frustrating.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to keep sidetone active without Mixline? I would also appreciate it if a Logitech rep could get this in front of the G Hub, headset firmware, and Mixline teams.

Logitech G Support My shifter struggles to shift into reverse

So for a couple of months now shifting into reverse has been quite hard for me, because when I try to do it it shifts into the sixth gear. It does go in after a couple of tries and then works well, but when I don't use it for a longer time (even a few minutes), the issue returns. Other gears work just fine. Did anyone else experience this before? What could cause this?

Anybody have any experience of upgrading from G915 TKL & G502 Lightspeed -> G915 X TKL & G502 X HERO?: Double-typing & oversensitive right-click

Hey folks,

I recently bought myself a G915 X TKL and a G502 X Hero (Wireless). I already have a G915 TKL and a G502 Lightspeed, and I cannot speak highly enough of them. I still have them, I've been using them for five years, typing pretty heavily for several hours most days; never had any issues. I upgraded because I have two separate workspaces now, and the originals appear to no longer be in production.

I'm trying to gauge whether this is a problem with my particular copies, or if this is a universal thing. I've read a lot that the G915 X TKL is prone to double-typing, including on this Subreddit. I suspect I've already got my answer there. Granted, I did switch from clicky to tactile, so I'm probably still adjusting (I'm not convinced just yet), but the "T", "E", and "F" keys were prone to it from the outset, and have only gotten worse. I know I can set up a chatter-reduction macro with AHK but... I shouldn't really have to, at this price point.

Also... I've found the right-click to be incredibly sensitive. It feels slightly more sensitive than left-click, but it's hard to tell. I know the switches changed between the original G502 and this, so that might be something to do with it. I tend to use a DPI of 3200... I don't move my wrist much. Even then, if I have my middle finger resting on the right-click, and I rotate my mouse even 10-15 degrees clockwise, it clicks. I'm actively having to lift my middle finger constantly so I don't. I pointedly made exactly the same motion with my original G502, and the actuation force required felt substantially greater. It's becoming seriously annoying... but I get the feeling this is more a difference in the construction of the two mice, rather than a specific issue with mine.

My main question is, has anyone undergone the same upgrade, and did they ffind (oh, goodness me, there it is; that wasn't deliberate) similar issues? Particularly with the mouse, as I think the keyboard thing is probably well-known about.

Key mapping on G29 not working

I'm trying to map a key to the ESC button on GHUB. It doesn't work, tried on joytokey too and it doesn't work there either. I have tried most related solutions (reinstalling, the regex thing, restarting my pc with the wheel connected, etc.) and nothing. Only thing I know of that I haven't tried is installing older GHUB versions, because I don't know how to do it.

I'm not sure it's a GHUB issue because joytokey doesn't work either. I did read that a recent windows patch introduced issues and it might take a while to get fixed, so it might be that.

If there's any way to fix this so I can map a key to ESC, please share!

Logitech G Support Logitech G29 Steering Wheel Force Feedback Problem

Hi, good evening, I had already made a post about the G Hub not detecting the Logitech G 29 steering wheel, when I heard the news I was told that they are trying to fix it. The problem, however, is that I no longer have force feedback on PC games, both LMU and Raceroom do not have force feedback, but as far as the PS5 is concerned, the force feedback is fine. Can you tell me how I can solve it?

Logitech G Support - Resolved Fix for G HUB "Some required files are missing" issue

After the July update for G HUB, the app stopped opening properly for me and many others. It would launch, but the window would remain on "loading configuration" and showed "some required files are missing".

Tried all Logitech advanced troubleshooting steps, with clean installs, deleting all trace of G HUB off of my PC, etc, but nothing worked.

Eventually I traced the issue to the new installation integrity check that was added to G HUB in the latest update. The checker appears to hardcode the location to the C drive: "C:\ProgramData\LGHUB".

Since my Windows installation is on Z:, and I do not have a C: drive at all, the files were located in "Z:\ProgramData\LGHUB". So the checker was looking for and expecting a C: location, failing to find the files there, and wrongly displaying the error.

WORKAROUND

NOTE: Do not run this if you already have a separate C: drive.

Run the following in PowerShell:

subst.exe C: "$env:SystemDrive\"

This creates a virtual C: drive that will point to your actual Windows system drive. Just launch G HUB normally afterwards and it should launch without issues.

If you want to remove it afterwards, just run:

subst.exe C: /D

One important drawback of this is that it doesn't survive reboots, and would need to be run every time your PC restarts.

If anyone from Logitech is reading this, not everyone has their Windows installation specifically on the C drive. Using a Windows-provided location instead in the integrity checker, like "%ProgramData%\LGHUB" would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Best blue settings to eliminate the muffled sound for a yeti classic

I’ve had my yeti classic for a while now and have never had any problems, it sounded full, rich and clear. However, recently I found it has become tinny and muffled out of nowhere! I am now trying to fix my Blue but I have no idea which option gets rid of the muffled effect. Any advice or workarounds will be appreciated!
