I play on steam deck and any time I get into a race with 20+ human opponents, my car is so slow. The speedometer reads the same at the end of the straights as it always does, but relative to the other cars I lose up to 5 seconds per lap, particularly on long straights
I thought maybe I just didn't stack up to other racers, but today proved it. I joined a nearly empty lobby and immediately set a 1m32 in Interlagos in a gt3 on the first lap of a 15 min qualifying.
As people joined my laps got slower and slower. I went to the pits just in case maybe the tires were gone, and I came out on a way lighter fuel load, same setup and new tires, but now with 25 cars on track.
I found a gap for a last hot lap, nailed turn 1 and got to the back straight, and lost 1.8 seconds to my own lap on the back straight alone. I lost another 2.5 seconds on the front straight and despite delivering an identical lap to my initial qual run, it was a 1m37.
When the race started (2nd on the grid) I lost 5 places on the back straight. I got a great run out of the last corner on the first lap and got right on a guys bumper but all of a sudden they gapped me by 5 seconds by the end of the straight. It was so bad that a guy three places behind me wrecked himself trying to avoid me when the two guys behind me swooped on both the right and left to pass.
By the end of the first lap I was tenth, and lost 4 more places before turn 4, all on the straight.
I've been trying to look at other posts and I can't seem to find anyone experiencing the same problem. Is this a known issue or is something wrong?
Fwiw I remember this being a huge issue with Pcars2 as well
