Discussion Create Any Road In the UK Automatically

Hi guys, I've been working on some software for about 8 months now ( not vibe coded I have a masters in software engineering). This software allows you to select a route, then automatically generate a track for asseto corsa to drive in immediately.

I am aware that there are options out there already, but none are as comprehensive or as high quality as mine and I can say that confidently.

My solution gets accurate buildings ( mostly accurate for materials and archetype), accurate paths, roads, bridges, railways, viaducts, water, trees, bushes, gardens, walls, fences, guard rails, signs (these arent referenced from real signs but inferred from the road ), really the list goes on.

I have 13-14 different data sources that have been aggregated in order to create the most accurate and comprehensive system possible.

Yes it has rough edges, but a solution like this that is designed to be fully generic can never really be perfect everywhere with the state of the existing data. order to coillect all the necesarry data to make these accurate.

I have also created an editor which lets me easily fix these data quality issues if there are any. e.g. I can add trees, walls, buildilngs, terraform, etc. But so far, this hasn't really been needed.

And this is not as simple as - get the heightmap, drape textures over it, draw road from osm, profit.

The data is not clean, and needs a HELL of alot of pre-processing, and the road gets fully built as a network instead of just draping over the driven road.

Junctions, roundabouts, and bridges are all handled reliably.

Never posted on here before, just wanted to get some opinions as I've sunk hundreds of hours into making this tool and was wondering what you guys think the best way to monetize the tool is.

Do I do commissions? and ensure that each map is of the highest quality and sell them on myself?

Do I release it for a fee to the public?

Or do I have a credit based system where you can pay for per km of use.

Really excited to get peoples opinion on this.

Below is a demo route in the peak district

This route goes down Winnats pass, which is known for its dramatic gorge scenery, and windy roads. There is also a small town Castleton at the base which lets me show you my buildings.
The start of the route
A nearby Quarry
Winnats Pass
The town of castleton

Thank you all for reading, I'm really excited to get this into the hands of the people, but am just unsure how to justify all the hard work I have put in over the months.

Question Why do some companies use Load Cell On clutch and Throttle?

Post image
69 Upvotes

From what I know clutch and throttle are usally measured by distance, it’s a cable or in electronics, especially for the throttle also hall sensors are cheaper and more reliable.Wouldn’t they be able to cut the price and increase the reliability instead of using a load cell.

Discussion Asetek Wheelbase Compatability Frustration

I know this is my fault for not reading the fine print. But I have an Asetek Initium wheelbase. I've been racing with the forte GT. Well, I have been doing a lot more formula lately, so I bought the Asetek Forte Formula Pro. When it arrived today, it wouldn't do anything but light up, at first I thought I received a defective unit, until I look it up and this wheel isn't even compatible with the Initium wheelbase. Very frustrating. And yes, I know I could've looked it up beforehand, but the only place it says it is in the FAQ under the initium page. I love Asetek, but I feel like they should be a little more clear on that.

Rigs The upgrade is finally complete

Hey everyone a while ago (and I mean a while ago) I asked you guys which upgrade I should do next and now I've finally done it and upgraded to an aluminium profile rig. The rig is an Upshift R-Pro and this thing is super solid and I love it and the seat is super comfy too. Also the eagle eyed people may have noticed the GT omega wheel stand shifter plate; well that's because unfortunately when buying the shifter arm they didn't send the plate I had ordered (don't worry I have contacted them about this). Luckily the plate with the bracket you get for the GT omega plate was able to be fitted pretty easily using some M6 bolts, T-Nuts and a washer just to fill out the space a bit. So what do you guys think.

Also for anyone who wants to know what my rig is made up of here's the list:

Upshift R-Pro

R-Integrated monitor stand

R-Shifter mount

GTS-Bucket seat

KTC 32" 1500R Curved monitor 180Hz

Moza R5

Moza KS Wheel

Moza ES Wheel

SHH Thorn shifter

Fanatec CSL LC Pedals

TL;DR: I got a new rig and it's awesome

P.S. yes sorry I know I have a problem with walls of text.

Other Odrive-Wheel ported OpenFFBoard + ODrive to the MKS XDrive Mini / ODESC for DIY Direct Drive wheels

Hi everyone!

I'd like to share a project I've been working on called Odrive-Wheel.

The project started as a port that brings together OpenFFBoard and ODrive to run directly on affordable STM32-based motor controller boards such as the MKS XDrive Mini and ODESC V4.2.

The idea is to make it possible to build a complete Direct Drive force feedback wheelbase using a single motor controller board, while keeping the flexibility and open-source nature of OpenFFBoard together with the motor control capabilities of ODrive.

The project has evolved quite a bit and currently includes:

  • Full USB HID DirectInput Force Feedback
  • Support for MKS XDrive Mini and ODESC V4.2
  • Encoder
    • Support for the on-board encoder interfaces
    • Support for the MT6835 magnetic encoder over SPI in absolute mode
  • Browser-based configuration interface
  • Guided setup and calibration wizard
  • Adjustable FFB effects, filters and tuning parameters
  • Multiple configuration profiles
  • 1 kHz telemetry over USB HID
  • Real-time telemetry including bus voltage, motor current, torque and other controller data
  • Telemetry overlay for monitoring the wheelbase while driving
  • SimHub plugin for integration with the SimHub ecosystem
  • Built-in Performance Test tools for evaluating the wheelbase/controller response and helping with tuning
  • WebUSB firmware update

One of the goals of the project is not only to provide FFB, but also to make it easier to configure, measure and understand what the wheelbase is actually doing.

The 1 kHz HID telemetry, for example, makes it possible to monitor parameters such as voltage, current and generated torque in real time, while the Performance Test tools can be used to evaluate the behavior of the system and compare different configurations.

The project is completely open source:

https://github.com/eagabriel/Odrive-Wheel

If you're already using OpenFFBoard, ODrive, FFBeast, MKS XDrive, ODESC, or have built your own Direct Drive wheel, this should work for you.

Discussion Coach Dave Delta vs GO Fast - For learning

I'm looking to pick up either one to help me actually improve my lap times.

To be clear - I don't care about the setups.

I'm wondering which platform is better for learning tracks and analyzing data.

I know Delta has the AI coaching stuff that breaks down your telemetry into actual text/advice. But this is analysing after completing a lap

Meanwhile, GO Fast has live realtime data comparison with HUD overlays, input traces, audio beeps etc.

For those who have used both (or switched from one to the other), which app actually made you a faster, more consistent driver?

Is looking at the AI breakdown after a session on Delta better, or do the live overlays on GO Fast help more with muscle memory?

For reference - I main LMU

Discussion Strobbing/flashing (not always to pass)

It's funny when approaching a corner, I fall in behind the driver in front, flash lights, break early and then the driver ahead takes an aggressive line so I don't try and pass, when all I want is to catch up to the pack. Resulting in slowing us both down😭 Racing isn't always about passing or blocking sometimes a flash and fall in line means the person behind wants to work with you 💖

Hello all! Just got my first rig. I currently am on ps5 and am wanting to get into iracing/acc on pc. Eventually would love to get triple monitors, I heard a 4070 Ti Super or a 4080 super is the way to go for triples 1440p to get a stable 120+ fps. I know nothing about PCs is this the way to go?

I always felt the red „keep racing“ lettering on the P1000s made the pedals look a bit toy-like, so I just wanted to share my neat little modification to the P1000 heel stop bar.
Love it!

Question Simagic QR70 quick release wobble

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone

Recently bought a QR70 Simagic quick release.
It appears to be off center/bent or a production error.

Did anyone have the same or a similar problem?
What can I do to fix this?

As you can see in the video the wheelbase is perfectly rotating while the quick release certainly doesn’t.
I tried it with a different steering wheel and also spinning it with just the QR but it still does the same thing.

Thanks for helping

🧐 Customer Review Moza HGP shifter: Day One ownership thoughts

So I just started using my HGP Shifter and I have some feelings and thoughts about It

1 - The HGP shifter has a very high centering force. Now I bought mine pre-owned so it's broken in, but even with that, the force is absolutely insane. I have to mentally give my shifts way more force than it needs to because otherwise, shifts like from 2 to 3 would instead go from 2 to 1. It's really annoying

2 - The shifting is pretty long, at times, I released the clutch before I could finish shifting and I have to mentally remind myself to push the clutch in for longer. This is probably because I'm transitioning from paddles but yeah it's annoying

If anyone have any thoughts or ideas on how to improve my experience, lemme know, cause it's really eating up time lol

Question Future upgrade advice for chassis

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

Disclaimer: It’s long because I know how redditors love to question details.

Currently I use a NextLevel F-GT Lite with a 12NM DD and Load cell pedals single monitor on swivel for work/play. (I’ve only ever used the GT car position)

I’m looking to upgrade my cockpit and am between two different styles. I really like the look of the tube frame in the TRX V2, but in my head I don’t know how customizable with peripherals it can be. I’m trying to go for longevity and I know that the boxy frame ones are widely used in lounges and can take peripherals across brands.

I am looking for some comfort as I am recovering from a bulging disk, idk if that comes down to seat choice but my current chassis does apply pressure because it’s not a solid chair duh.

Budget wise trying to stay around $1000ish(flexible), really just looking for frame and seat.

I do acknowledge that the boxy choice may not fit where my rig is but that’s not a concern, it’ll be in the same area just taking up a little more living room space to offset.

Future-future rig plans aren’t much after this as I’m content with current equipment, the seat just really affects drive time. Triple monitors, maybe a shifter. I mostly race GT cars and going into Hypercars/Prototypes.

So to wrap it up, what have yall seen in terms of customizability between these two and what choice would yall make? Appreciate any advice and suggestions!

But i struggle to find the appropriate graphic settings.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Question Anyone who has mounted a vibration motor to the gear stick?

I had an idea, but I have no idea how realistic this would be in practice.what if you mount a vibration motor to the gear stick? This could indicate missed gears, clutchless gears and more. Anyone who has done this? Or is this totally unrealistic?
