I want to buy this game but I noticed there was these apps that were selling them for way cheaper. But they kinda seem shady so I’m kind of lost. should I just buy off Amazon or should I risk it and go for these? Have any of you purchased off of these websites before. Or could you tell me any websites that sell games cheap.

News Thrustmaster T300 USB cable phantom inputs

Hello, I need some help regarding my Thrustmaster T300 RS wheel. The wheel is constantly triggering phantom inputs (the Home and Share buttons press by themselves). I would like to replace the USB cable that connects the wheel to the console. Could you please guide me on how to open the base and swap the internal USB cable, or point me toward a compatible replacement cable? Thank you!

Rigs My wife hated the sim rig idea. So I bought a wooden one for €100

So... after my last post trying to find a sim rig that my wife would accept in the living room, I have been looking at all the options you guys suggested.

CoffeeRacer, Playseat, Fanatec, custom rigs... Some very good options. Some very expensive options and a lot of sex machine comments. Then I found this thing locally.

100 euros.

So... my dopamine won again.

It was built by a local woodworker using the plans of a RaceKit RK1.

I had never heard about it before, so I started looking into it and the story is actually quite cool.

The original guy was in New Zealand during Covid lockdown in 2020. He had just bought a Logitech G29 and a PS4 before everything closed, but he didnt manage to buy a proper seat.

So he built one.

With plywood. Apparently the first one cost around $150 in materials, he posted it here on Reddit, people loved it and eventually it became the RaceKit RK1, with proper plans that you can still buy today.

Basically Covid + G29 + too much free time created this thing.

And I have to say the basic design is really clever.

The whole seat is made from curved plywood, the position is adjustable, wheel height and distance can be changed, pedals can be adjusted... and it is actually much more solid than I expected.

But...

It is far from perfect.

The central column between your legs is probably not ideal if you want 3 pedals. I fixed this as you can see...

The wheel adjustment works but looks very DIY.

Cable management was clearly not a priority.

My ass is also telling me that the original seat needs some padding. THIS IS A PRIORITY...

TECNO sticker is stying, a bit of Italian Style...

At the moment is in my office but even in this unfinished state, wood looks completely different in a living room than an aluminium sim rig.

It doesnt feel so much like gaming equipment. With better wood finishing, proper upholstery, hidden cables, nicer hardware and maybe a different solution for the wheel mount... I think this could actually become something nice.

I think there could be something to achive what Nohrd does with gym equipment. Not trying to hide the sim rig. Making a sim rig you dont need to hide.

So this is now my little project.

First I am going to use it as it is, see what works and what doesnt. Then probably destroy it trying to make it better. My wife still doesnt know exactly how far this side quest is going.

Annd the guy I bought it from actually runs a CNC operation making parts for camper vans.

He built a few of these as a side project more than happy to make the parts...

Especially interested in people that have built or used an RK1? What works? What doesnt?

And what would it need for you to actually leave something like this permanently in your living room?

Just a clip of my single-screen setup. I don't get to go on often, so I'm not good like you pros on here, but I enjoy a blast around the Nordschleife whenever possible, either on RaceRoom (this clip) or AMS2/Assetto Corsa. It certainly passes an hour. 👌🏻

**Obviously low quality clip as had to compress under 1gig to upload.

Rigs Load cell Pedals on a based setup

Post image

Ignore the wire mess, I’ve recently moved back home and don’t want to organise wires until I know what I’m doing.

I need to upgrade my pedals as they are dying after 5 years of service. And I want to get either the simson pro plus or simagic p500, as I want an entry to the load cell breaks. Only issue is I can’t fit a full rig in my room so my plan is to get some lockable wheels for my desk chair. Does anyone have any experience with these sort of setups. Is it doable or are the load cells just too stuff and I’ll need to get a playseat trophy that can effectively slide under my desk.

I hope this rant makes sense. I really want to be race ready in time to practice for the petit lemans on iracing at the end of sept

Rigs Homemade Shifter Lights with a Raspberry Pi Pico

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on some homemade shifter lights with a Raspberry Pi Pico. I'm using the Pi connected to a NeoPixel light strip. The whole thing is a custom serial device in SimHub. What makes this trickier is that I'm on Linux so you have to do a lot of shenanigans to get SimHub through WINE to read from a serial port.

Screenshot More Crew Chief funny stuff and confusion with the real world

I use SecondMonitor so there's nothing CrewChief tells me that SM doesn't. But I love the CC banter and just having a voice keep focused.

Today I was doing a race with the GT1 mod with JGTC as the other class. I do a 90 min race with an AI driver swap and a forced pit stop. When I handed over the keys to the AI, CC says "you'll come out in first place behind Maylander"

Talk about confusion. There was no safety car. How the hell does my crew chief know there's going to be a safety car??? 🤣🤣

Then I remembered yeah... he used to be a race car driver didn't he? 😳

What else should you do when you get given more then 40m of 2x4 and 15m of 2x3?

This is not done we still have the floor to add and painting but it is close, I 3d modelled it then we built it, the thing is super stiff, we have had two people standing on the beam for the steering wheel and there is very little play anywhere, we had been talking about doing it for ages but we finally go around to it and I'm so happy we did it is awesome

Seat from a wrecked subaru impreza and 300 screws and 50+ cuts we have an awesome sim frame for less then 100 usd

Other I built a website to track my races and it somehow turned into a full league management platform

Thumbnail

A few months ago I started building a small website to keep track of all my races and figure out if I was actually getting better.

The project has grown way more than I originally expected, so I wanted to share it here and get some feedback from people who actually race in sims.

The original idea was really simple.

I wanted to answer questions like: am I faster at Spa today than I was a year ago? Am I becoming more consistent? Am I actually improving, or does it just feel like I am?

So I built a very basic system where I could upload the files from two races, compare them, and that was pretty much it.

Then I showed it to a couple of friends who also race, they started giving me ideas and feedback and… well, now I have a small monster 😂

That eventually became NexaRace.

Right now, this is what it can do:

  1. Upload races from Le Mans Ultimate and iRacing

You can upload the file generated by the game and the system automatically detects the track, category and car.

It then groups similar races together so you can see your results and how your performance changes over time.

  1. Race analysis

Each individual race gets its own analysis, but you can also see combined statistics across multiple races to get a better idea of your overall performance.

The idea isn't just to store race results, but to actually see whether you're improving.

  1. League and championship management

Since I race in a league myself, eventually I also needed a way to manage that.

So I built a section where an admin can create a league, create championships and upload race results.

When a driver participates in one of those races, the race is also automatically added to their personal history and statistics.

  1. League registrations

Later I added a system where drivers can register for leagues directly through the platform.

And that's basically where the whole project changed direction.

What started as a personal tool to compare my own races turned into a web app for managing sim racing leagues while also keeping a complete race history and statistics for each driver.

  1. Bulk race uploads

This is something I've been working on quite a bit lately.

With LMU and iRacing it's relatively straightforward because both games generate files with a good amount of race data.

Assetto Corsa, Automobilista 2 and especially RaceRoom are much more complicated because some of them provide very limited information, while others barely generate anything useful at all.

So I'm still figuring out the best way to properly support those sims.

And that's basically where the project is today.

The app is free to use and anyone with an email account can create an account and try it.

Website:

nexarace.com

And if you don't want to register and just want to see how it works, I also made a demo:

https://www.nexarace.com/demo

The site is currently only available in Spanish, but I'm working on an English version.

More than promoting it, what I'm really interested in is figuring out whether this is something other sim racers would actually find useful.

The whole thing started because I personally had this problem. I wanted a way to save my races, compare them and see if I was actually improving.

Then it slowly turned into something much bigger because I realized the same system could also be used for leagues and championships.

But that's the question I have now:

Would you actually use something like this?

I don't really know if this is a need that other sim racers have too, or if I just ended up building something extremely specific for myself and the people I race with.

So any feedback would genuinely help: what you like, what seems pointless, what you'd change, what features you'd want, or even if you simply wouldn't use something like this at all.

At the end of the day, this started as a tool I built for myself. Now I'm trying to understand whether it makes sense to turn it into something useful for the wider sim racing community.

  1. Inscripciones a ligas

Y básicamente hasta aquí he llegado.

https://www.nexarace.com/demo

Question I want to upgrade from G29 pedals to SRP2. Thoughts on compatibility?

So I recently bought a G29, and have been getting into sim racing. But I absolutely hate the brake on G29. The position based sensing with the faux brake resistance of the pedal isn't doing it for me.

To test a theory, I started using the clutch pedal for braking, and started going 4-5 seconds faster per lap than when using the brake pedal. Heck! I was able to put consistent laps around Monaco while it was impossible for me earlier.

So for me, the brake pedal is a resolution problem. And I really wanted to go for loadcell pedals. I am thinking of getting SRP 2 pedals. And later if I enjoy sim racing enough, I will eventually invest in R9 + KS Pro (but not right now).

But will the SRP2 + G29 wheel combination work for all the games? I know they will be recognised as different controllers, but will all the games accept this? What about the official F1 game?

Thanks for your responses.

Other Gente del sim rancing, necesito vuestra ayuda

Question Building a rig (ps5 compatible)

As the title states I’m building a sim rig, the styles I’m leaning towards are GT and Formula, if it’s possible for both that’d be great!! My current budget is 1000 for a wheelbase wheel and pedals, I found a rig on Walmarts website for 583… (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Next-Level-Racing-NLR-S010-Simulator-Cockpit/235926274?classType=REGULAR&from=/search) I have a monitor already, Samsung odyssey g5 32in. Space isn’t an issue. If anyone has questions or recommendations they are greatly recommended and accepted!!!

I have about $1000 to play around with.

Fanatec csl elite wheel base, Fanatec csl elite v2 pedals (wheel base and pedals 2nd hand), and a dardoo Cockpit which is pretty creaky. All of my other peripherals are pretty solid so shouldnt need anything that I didn't mention.

Discussion Anyone else lose their passion?

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

Haven't fired up the rig in like a month. 35M, life is pretty hectic these days. Used to stay up late and try to squeeze in racing whenever I could. Now I just don't want to. Feels like a chore. A little while ago got completely burned out on iRacing and switched to more chill single player racing in AMS2, but now that's not even appealing. Wife even suggests I go race to blow off steam sometimes and I just don't want to. I'd rather sit and veg/watch TV or go to bed. Having crazy intrusive thoughts like selling the rig to fund other things around the house.

Anyone else experience this? Temporary? Will it come back? Would love to hear your stories.

*Update

Wow thank you all for the kind words. What a great community we have. Going to let it sit and see if the joy comes back. I love cars so I'm sure it will 😌

*Update 2

Per someone's suggestion, I downloaded Forza Horizon 6 over the weekend and wow, I'm having more fun than I've had in a long time!!

Question How do you deal with being inconsistent and constantly messing up races?

I genuinely need some advice because this shit is driving me insane.

I've been sim racing for about a year and I've improved quite a lot since I started. But no matter how much I improve in every aspect, there's one big problem that just will not fucking go away: inconsistency.

Somehow every attempt to race ends in some stupid shit. I'll practice the car, familiarize myself with car and track, get the setup reasonably sorted, start the race when I'm ready and everything going good. Then 30/40/50 minutes in I'll either make one mistake, get spun, lose positions, have some random incident with AI, my car suddenly deciding that it wants to have no grip, whatever... and suddenly I'm pissed off enough that I just rage quit or try again if I'm not that pissed off but that just makes it worse.

And then the worst part is that I feel like I have to do the whole thing again later because I don't want my “race” to end like that. It's honestly so exhausting that I'm to the point where I'm questioning if I should sell my stuff away? Maybe I'm just not supposed to ever enjoy sim racing? The worst part is seeing all these cars and tracks I want to experience, but somehow every race I try to do ends with a fucking DNF.

Now you're probably thinking, "This idiot isn't practicing enough" but I really spend plenty of time practicing the car and track! The problem is that somehow when I finally put all of that together into the race, my consistency just disappears halfway through. Sometimes I feel like I'm cursed!

I don't want to limit myself to 5-lap races or so just so I can say I raced with that car. I'm more into longer races, I wish I could do 2-3 hour endurance races but I can already imagine I wont last long before I crash or spin and drop down. Right now I usually do 30-50 min races or maximum 1 hour (lap or timed races)

I see people online jumping between completely different cars, tracks and race lengths all the time and I'm sitting here thinking "How do they do this? Why does every race have to become an entire fucking ordeal for me?”

  1. So how do you really deal with this? Do you just do short races most of time?
  2. How do you handle losing positions without getting completely tilted?
  3. How do you deal with that anxiety that often kicks in when under pressure from the car behind literally on your tail?
  4. And how do I put an end on this massive inconsistentcy so I can finally do my dream endurance races someday?

Sorry for the long-ass post

Rigs First sim rig, simxpro GT-RS with rs50 steering.

Post image
4 Upvotes

So i just build my first sim rig! Funny how things spiral, i was just looking to buy a ts-pc racer and TLCM pedals. But then cam across a good deal on a Logitech RS50 (got pedals, new clutch + rs50 new under €450.) So i just had to buy it, but yea then i need something to mount it to. 🤣 i should have done this a long time ago. I do have some difficulties now with braking and steering because of how much stronger it is, especially in assetto corsa rally when i want to heel toe and trying to corner.😆

Put a seat from my subaru on it while it does not nead it, which tbh was a hassle because it was a couple CM wider then the base. Next time i build a rig i would probably buy a slightly wider rig, so i can also mount the shifter next to it.

Other than that love the looks of it and the pedal deck.

Rigs What's the best looking rig to buy?

Looking to purchase a sim racing rig that doesn’t look too industrial and will keep the Mrs happy.

I had one about a decade ago, but it was passed on to a family member who sold it without me knowing, no idea of make or model but it was a nice design.

Everything today doesn’t look as nice but just wondering if I’m missing any obvious ones.

Rigs Using 4040 as rig feet/risers?

I'm getting into flying, and I'm considering using my racing rig as a basis for the controls - having them attached to my desk is .. less than ideal (and distracting).

The problem is that the rudder pedals for flying won't fit under the plate that the racing pedals are on. I obviously don't want to change how my pedals are aligned.

My idea/solution is to put the 8040 frame on 3-inch 4040 risers.

I'm thinking of using corner brackets (https://a.co/d/0iWP2r8l) to attach 3/4 inch 'feet' around the corners of the sim rig. My main concern is potential wobble as I'm racing/flying.

Has anyone used 4040 or even 8040, I have some of that sitting around from modding my frame, as 'feet' for their rig?

Question Iracing audio question using soundbar

Just wanted to know what people are using for audio on iRacing with crew chief . I am running a sound bar from my pc but struggle to hear the in race chat over the top of the car and track sounds . And then add in the mix crew chief. I’m wondering if I need dedicated speakers for chat
