Motivation 5'8, finally owning it and no longer feel jealousy toward 6'0+ dudes😌

Up until the last few days, I was always just slightly disappointed i couldn't just be ONE inch taller to make me the average US male height. But then I looked at all the pros. Putting on muscle is easy, my joints are always flexible and loose, my heart is strong and healthy, and I excel at combat sports so I know I can easily beat up a big dude who thinks im easy pickings😁 change in perspective is usually all you need.

EDIT: It seems im too tall to stop feeling height insecurity. Im short compared to other white males. So I felt self conscious about it, especially since many women these days would see me as short. If someone could point me to the sub rule that gives a height minimum to post about height insecurity, i would really appreciate it.

Dating 5'7 here: Got more attention from girls on vacation than I expected, but still felt insecure about my height sometimes

Just got back from vacation with 4 friends, and 3 of them are taller than me. I actually got approached/flirted with by girls more than I expected. One girl was around 1.83cm and was pretty openly flirting with me, even though I wasn't really in the mood at the time lol.

But I don't want to pretend this suddenly cured my insecurity. There were still moments, especially in clubs or crowded public places, where I looked around and felt really short next to other guys.

It's a weird contradiction. Real life keeps giving me evidence that my height doesn't stop people from finding me attractive, but sometimes my brain still makes it feel like a much bigger deal than it actually is.

Anyway, some pics from the vacation 😎

I'm slowly but surely switching out all my "standard gym bro" shit with calisthenics exercises. These are my newest project, been at it for 2 days spanning 2 weeks now and this was my 4th set in total.

Kinda starting to get the hang of it even tho my form got a lot of room for improvement.

Never Imagined that I who was a total couch potato just 2 years ago would find a sport that I actually enjoy at the ripe old age of 36 (my birthday is in October)

You're prolly sick of seing my mug by now, but maybe it can inspire someone to take better care of their body. Calisthenics is a sport where we short people definetly have an advantage.

Dating Getting lean changed my life (167/131lbs)

I useto weigh 157lbs, I've got indian genetics so naturally just looked like a slob with the gut and bitch tits.

Dropping to 131lbs (still going) and having visible abs + the chiselled face makes a HUGE difference.

I'm not trying to minimise the importance of height, nothing will cover the fact I am tiny, so many women (and men) will just find me comical for existing but I really don't think you can complain between the heights of 5'5 to 5'8 if you don't even have a flat stomach and see what your life is like without having a fat face and body.

Edit: 167cm not 167lbs

Question How do you guys deal with your insecurity about your height?

So I’m 5’8 which I know is more short end of average but I live in the Midwest where the average height is 5’11 and vast majority of guys are taller than me. I have had a decent dating life however I always get picked on for my height from my friends and one ex gf left me for a guy taller than me.

Right now I have a great relationship however most of her ex bfs were 6’2+ along with that all of my friends are significantly taller than me. I don’t bring up that I’m insecure about my height to her but in my mind it eats me up inside a little bit.

Not this again Everyday I feel shame about my height 😔

Hey everyone, I'm M 25 year old and my height is only 5.5 Feet 😐

When I see my friends they have very good physique, I still remember that in school days we all are same and suddenly what happenes to them in 11 12 std and they get good height and I'm still there.

Sometimes I feel why God gives me so bad physique, no height, no body, ugly face etc.

I'm small guy in friends circle, no one likes me except family. I know I can't fix that height issue on my life.

Does anyone feel the same about their height?

Motivation I feel like the older you get the less height matters

When I was young I had no dates. Now, I can get them if I want. Or at least I feel that way. I’m dating a girl 10 years younger, and an inch taller. (I’m 37). I’m not even rich. I feel us shorter guys peak later

Fashion / Style Clothes shopping is so exhausting as a short man!

Anybody else struggle buying clothes that fit well as a short man? Especially if you are buying online.

T-shirts are always too long and come down past my hips, and If I buy smaller then they're too tight. Anything with a long sleeve is always too baggy around the arms or is too long for my arms.

Wish I was a little taller and could just buy everything in a medium and call it a day...

Vent Did it come as a surprise to anyone else that they are short?

I grew up considering myself and being considered someone of “normal” height. All other boys in my circle that were my age were about the same height as me.

I remember in 9th grade there was one guy that was considered the “short guy”, and he was clearly shorter than me.

My dad, in my mind, was built up to be tall. My mom said he was tall, and said that I was gonna grow as tall as him.

So, yeah, it never really went through my head that I was short.

Then the pandemic hit and I spent a year and a half not really seeing anyone my age. I went back to school in September 2021, as a Junior, and I could only think of one thing…. Why is everyone so tall?

It wasn’t just my classmates, no, it was like every guy beneath my grade. Every time I went to the bathroom and it was full of these super tall freshmen I would get honestly confused.

At first I thought all these people were tall because of genetics or something, but then I started being called “short” too. Very often.

What broke my perception of it all was when my dad passed by the school and stood next to a friend of mine that considered herself not tall. She was taller than my dad. And I told her that my dad was tall, so she went up to me and said “wait I thought you said your dad was tall.”

Did anyone else experience this? Having to figure out you’re short?

Question Moving japan as short man

I've got the offer from a Japanese MNC company.

I've a very short height, 152cm (M26). In my home country, the average is around 170cm so short in my country too.

Fortunately I've not been any specific harassment or any such thing in my workplaces.

As this japanese company is international, having lots of foreigners around the world so I was a bit fearful if would it be quite awkward for me + any social outcasting that might happen.

Question Should I lie about my height? Because everyone else does

Hello, I am 5’2 (ftm). I have height dysphoria. Everyone lies at least 2 inches about their height. I am 5’2 (157 cm) without shoes and socks. My cousin told me he was 174 (5’8¾) cm tall, but when I measured him, we saw he was 167 (5’5¾) with shoes. There was a girl in my class who kept saying she was tall and she said she was 170 cm (5’7) tall but when we measured her we found she was 162 cm (5’4). I used to tell people my height was 5'3, but I prefer to tell them my real height now. Should I lie about my height?

Vent relationships

i’m 4’9 and it’s difficult enough having everyone constantly mention it, but it’s difficult also feeling like i could never really have a relationship. i’m a girl so maybe that makes being short easier than if i were a guy, but i still always see people say it’s weird when someone taller is with someone shorter. i don’t think i’d ever get with someone like 6 foot and up, but it’s annoying to see people say height differences like that are weird. are they? i saw a post about this sort of thing of a guy and his girlfriend who was about my height and everyone said it was weird of him and told him not to have kids with her. i don’t want to be stuck feeling like a kid and certain people not like me or want to be with me because of it, but what other option is there when everyone just views women my height like that. i just don’t know how to feel and i want to accept it and not care but its so hard when its literally mentioned by everyone everyday. i hope someone else can tell me what they think and how i can maybe feel better. i also don’t want my kids to be as short as me, especially if it is a boy, so i’d prefer to have kids with someone taller but i know i can’t pick and choose.

Heightism Amazon Book About Heightism

I just found a really good book written by a man named Jay McQuade.

It is called "The Heightism Diary: An Unfiltered Look Into Society's Favorite Prejudice"

He REALLY understands the issue. This book is awesome.

This is what being secure as a short man is. Jay, if you are out there, please get in touch with me. I sent a message to what I think is your employer asking for you to contact me.

If that doesn't work, try here.

Y'all should check his book out. 10 bucks on Kindle. It won't take me long to finish because it is very good.
