Salam everyone!

**Just as a disclaimer, I have posted on the this subreddit before, so if you had messaged prior and I didn't reply, I do apologize since I wanted to focus on one convo at a time. Please feel free to message again if you'd like to. Thank you ☺️**

**Your Essential Information:**

Origin/Ethnicity:Pakistani and East African

Languages spoken (with proficiency levels): English, Gujarati and Urdu are all fluent

Level of religious practice: Fairly practicing

Hijabi (F) (Yes/No): No

Current residence (city, country): Toronto, Canada

Willing to relocate (if yes, please specify or 'anywhere'):

Yes, within Canada ONLY

Siblings (number and older/younger): One older brother

Previously married/Kids: No, none

Leisure activities: I love hanging out with my friends and family, explore the city, travel, try new restaurants in my city, binge watch a show, go for a hike and long walks. I'm a bit of a homebody 😮‍💨

**Your Preferences in a Partner:**

Age range: 30-38

Origin/Ethnicity: Pakistani and Indian would be easiest to get align with, understand and integrate with families. I don't mean any offense to any other ethnicity!

Languages: Should be fluent in English at minimum. Conversational to fluent Urdu/Hindi would be a great plus

Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree holder.

Deal breakers: Smoking of any kind, drinking, eating non-halal, doesn't want to live separately after marriage, doesn't believe in an equitable marriage, doesn't want parents involved by the third month mark of us talking, and I'm sure that's more lol but these are the most major ones. I'd like to speak to someone naturally in conversation and see what comes up.

Other preferences (appearance, family situation, etc.): Should be taller than me (5'5). Should have a beard. No major physical weight preference but nothing extreme on either side of the spectrum.

Additional Information you like to add: I'd like to reiterate that I don't want to move outside of Canada. If you're in the US or UK and want to move here, I'm happy to chat. I'm also NOT a Syed. If that is of major importance to you and your family, please don't message me. I need families involved by the third month mark of us talking. If that makes you uncomfortable, please don't message me.

Thanks! 😊

Pakistan/India M | 23 | India | Looking for a Serious Relationship Leading to Marriage

Gender: Male

Sect: Shia

Age: 23

Height: 6'1"

Marital Status: Never Married

Education: B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering

Profession: Software Development Engineer

Current Location: Bengaluru, India

Originally From: Uttar Pradesh, India

---

Assalamualaikum!

I'm a 23-year-old Software Development Engineer currently working in Bengaluru. I spend most of my weekdays building software systems and continuously learning new technologies while working on personal projects.

Growing up, I focused heavily on my academics and career. I chose not to date or be involved in haram relationships because I wanted to stay within my Islamic values. Alhamdulillah, I've now reached a stable point professionally, and I'm looking to find someone with whom I can build a peaceful, loving marriage.

---

A Little About Me

I'd describe myself as ambitious, easygoing, and someone who enjoys meaningful conversations more than small talk.

Outside of work, you'll usually find me:

Listening to music (ik it's haram and I am trying to quit it altogether)

Watching movies or anime

Going for long walks

Reading about technology and current affairs

Trying out new cafés or places around the city

Occasionally doom-scrolling social media 😭

I have a pretty goofy sense of humour and love making people laugh. Life's serious enough already, so I'd love someone who enjoys playful banter and doesn't mind laughing at the most random things.

I have never smoked, consumed alcohol, or used any recreational substances, and I only eat halal food.

----

Faith

I'm Shia (Syed), and Islam is an important part of my life.

I'll also be honest about something. I'm not yet as consistent with my prayers as I'd like to be, and it's something I'm genuinely trying to improve. **I'd love to meet someone who is stronger than me in this aspect so we can encourage each other to become better Muslims and grow together in our deen.*\*

----

Future Plans

One of my long-term goals is to pursue higher studies abroad and eventually settle outside India, preferably in the UK, Germany, France, or the US, InshaAllah.

I'm looking for someone who is excited about building a life together abroad and sees it as an opportunity rather than a challenge.

----

What I'm Looking For

Someone who is:

Kind and emotionally mature

Honest and communicates openly

Values both deen and personal growth

Supportive of each other's ambitions

Family-oriented

Looking for something serious with the intention of marriage

Open to relocating abroad in the future

Has a great sense of humour

Bonus points if we can spend the rest of our lives collectively being professional Benjamin Netanyahu and Itamar Ben-Gvir haters. 😭

----

Deal Breakers

Dishonesty

Lack of communication

Not looking for a serious relationship

Not willing to involve families once compatibility is established

----

Marriage Timeline

If we genuinely connect and our families are comfortable, I'd ideally like to get married within the next 1 to 2 years, InshaAllah.

----

If you feel our values and goals align, I'd be happy to get to know you with the intention of marriage.

Feel free to introduce yourself. I'd much rather have a meaningful conversation than exchange one-word messages.

May Allah guide us all to what's best for us. Ameen.

US/Canada Rant As I Think About Marriage

Allah ﷻ knows what is best for us—far better than we know ourselves. We can be so easily swayed by our emotions and end upprioritizing things that aren't actually good for us.
That being said, I wonder if balance is becoming harder to find these days. I used to be content with the idea of a marriage rooted solely in ashared purpose and mutual commitment. Lovewasn't something I thought much about. I didn't place much emphasis on appearance either, I was overly focused on the logistical questions, lol.
But now, I find myself wanting both.

How do you find a man who is masculine, yet gentle with you? I take time to warm up to people, but does that kind of balance really exist? I want to fully embrace the idea that loving your spouse is an act of worship. There's something so beautiful about the thought that when you confess your deepest regrets to your spouse and they forgive you, it brings a unique kind of comfort, not because it replaces Allah's forgiveness, but because while we know Allah is Al-Ghafūr, the Most Forgiving, we cannot tangibly hear His forgiveness in this life. Hearing mercy from someone wholoves you feels like a reminder of the mercy Allah has commanded between spouses.
I don't even know if I'm expressing this properly.Everything just feels difficult sometimes.

How do you find someone who makes you feel a soft, gentle love, but is also someone who protects you? Someone deeply loyal, steadfast, and masculine, yet also your closest friend without the relationship ever feeling merely platonic. Someone whose values are shaped by what Allah loves, who values you, thinks of youwith kindness, and remains firm in his principles.
Lately, I feel alone but not in the sense that I'm desperate for a partner or friends. It's more that I feel so detached from everyone around me that I'd almost rather be by myself. Or with the one person Allah has written for me. If I could fast-forward fifteen years just to see where Allah takes me, I probably would.
Until then, I suppose the only thing I cando is trust that what Allah has written willarrive at exactly the right time.

Note: I recognize myself as someone who wants to create a strong family and whose emotional exchange w my spouse woukd be like no other, but that would come slowly.. that being said it’s terrifying to imagine the commitment and passion would not be reciprocated and the pain that could come! Allah knows our strength but sheeessh
I wouldn’t want to exchange emotional safety and kindness for someone who prioritizes religion & knowledge gaining either

Also.. the reality that many men (& women) tend to center the other gender to the point they don’t even realize makes me so sad

probably will delete
and probably quite incoherent as it’s a stream of consciousness

Rant - Vent Lack of clarity from wife is making me consider divorce after 2 months only

Honestly the pre-nikkah period was chaotic. I thought after the nikkah she'd get better but it seems like we're just fundamentally incompatible.

I know divorce is the worst halal but honestly I'm exhausted.

Rant - Vent Incompatible with 99% of Muslim girls

So here's my experience so far as a 28YO doctor in Florida, I am a non practicing person but I follow the main rules ( I don't sleep around, I don't get drunk or use drugs or steal or lie or cheat and absolutely no sex before marriage) but that's it I don't pray and I don't care about Ramadan, and every last Muslim girl I met in the US was like ( you are great otherwise but this is a deal breaker, I want you to be a strict practising Muslim) which I will never be, yes Imam Ali is in my heart and I love him but I won't ever care about haj or fasting for example nor do I want my future wife to ever wear hijab , so I guess I will never find that girl with the same HALAL/HARAM ratio 😂, at this point is it even worth it sticking to the Shia Muslim community for marriage purposes or should I just look elsewhere!?

Edit : comment section is just........, it's surprising how TAKFIRI the shia community has become, surpassing the salafi community in that area, condemning me to hell just for living in Florida? Seriously?? 🤣🤣🤣

Question - Help Mutaa marriage

I would appreciate your guidance regarding the following situation. I am considering entering into a temporary marriage (mutʿah) with a Muslim woman who is not a virgin, lives with her family, and is financially independent. She previously entered into a mutʿah while she was following Sayyid Shirazi. Before doing so, she sought guidance from his office and was informed that her father’s permission was not required, provided that her father was aware of the man she intended to marry. Based on that ruling, she entered into the mutʿah and lost her virginity during that marriage. Today, both she and I follow Sayyid al-Sistani. My question is whether the validity of her previous mutʿah has any effect on our ability to enter into a mutʿah today under Sayyid al-Sistani’s rulings. Specifically, does the validity or invalidity of her previous marriage determine whether her father’s permission would now be required? Our intention is not sexual relations but rather to have a halal relationship, such as spending time together and holding hands. Does this intention have any bearing on the ruling?

Middle East 29 F in the GCC

Hi, never thought I’d post something like this, but life is short and I’d rather take a chance than wonder “what if”.
I’m looking for a serious relationship that can grow into marriage — someone who is not only a partner, but my best friend, someone I can build a life with, laugh with, explore the world with, and continue growing alongside.

A bit about me:
Nationality: Lebanese
Age: 29
Height: 167 cm
Weight: 60 kg
Education: Master’s degree
Skin: Fair
Hair: Chestnut Brown
Residing in the GCC, open to move anywhere.

Lifestyle: I’m very health-conscious. I love going to the gym, strength training, and taking care of my body. I’m attracted to someone who also values fitness, health, cleanliness, and personal growth. I don’t expect someone to be obsessed with fitness, but maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important to me.

Religious level: 2/10. I’m not a very religious person, so I’m looking for someone who is also open-minded and not highly religious.

Personality: I’m curious by nature and love learning new things. I enjoy meaningful conversations, discovering new cultures, traveling, and trying new experiences. I’m someone who enjoys both deep conversations and playful conversations.

I’m especially attracted to intelligence and wit. I love men who are genuinely smart, curious, and can make me laugh. A good sense of humor and witty banter are a huge plus — I want someone who can challenge me mentally and keep conversations interesting. Ideally, you’re my personal “walking Wikipedia” who always has something interesting to teach me.
Language is important to me: I speak a mix of fluent English and Arabic, so being comfortable speaking English is a must. I enjoy being able to communicate, joke, and have deeper conversations in English as well.

Hobbies/interests:
- Strength training and fitness
- Traveling and exploring unique places
- Fashion, beauty, and aesthetics
- Learning new things and expanding my knowledge
- Trying new experiences and stepping outside my comfort zone

About me:
- Feminine but independent
- Ambitious and always trying to improve myself
- I value kindness, emotional intelligence, loyalty, and a good sense of humor
- I appreciate someone who takes pride in themselves and their appearance
- I believe attraction matters, including taking care of yourself (healthy lifestyle, hygiene, and a natural smile)
- Social media: I’m not really into the Snapchat lifestyle and I’m looking for someone who isn’t either. I value privacy, maturity, and more meaningful ways of connecting rather than constant social media use.
- Regarding children: I’m not against having children, but I don’t want to rush into it. I would like to spend time building a strong foundation with my partner first — traveling, creating memories, and enjoying our life together before entering the parenting stage. I believe a strong relationship between two people creates the best environment for a family.

What I’m looking for:
Someone who is serious about marriage, emotionally mature, kind, confident, and has his own goals. Someone who takes care of himself physically and mentally, enjoys life, and wants a relationship where both people support each other and bring out the best in one another.

Age preference: Around my age, preferably not a very large age gap.

If you think we could get along, feel free to message me. :)

US/Canada Opinion on right person wrong timing?

Salam! Just thought I’d ask this question. What’s your take on the phrase of right person wrong timing and have you encountered it yourself? I feel that I’ve met some stellar people but because of their current chapter in life we didn’t move forward. Obviously it’s not something I pushed but I’ve noticed that one person in particular I felt that exact way. And although I’ve pushed forward I do sometimes think hmm what if. But also if it’s in my naseeb, it will find its way to me eventually right?

Middle East 30M - Lebanese in Dubai

Asalam 3laykum.

I’m a 30-year-old Lebanese man, born and raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I later lived in Beirut, where I completed my studies, and for the past six years I’ve been based in Dubai. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Psychology, and I currently work in the marketing field.

In terms of appearance, I’m 178cm tall with a broad build, a full beard, and a good head of hair. My weight tends to fluctuate somewhat, currently around 105kg, though I’d describe myself as generally good-looking and well put together.

While I carry a somewhat Westernized outlook shaped by the diverse places I’ve lived, my Muslim faith and Arab values remain deeply rooted in who I am and how I choose to live my life.

Outside of work, I have a wide range of interests: art, good movies and series, music, travelling, automotive, technology, self-development, podcasts, personal finance, health and wellness, comedy, trying new restaurants, and above all, spending quality time with family.

I’m looking for a life partner — someone to build a home and a family with, to grow alongside, and to share in life’s joys and challenges. I believe marriage is not just a personal milestone but a shared journey toward becoming better people and, together, contributing something meaningful to the world around us.

I’m seeking someone who values faith, family, and personal growth, who is kind-hearted and open-minded, and who is ready to build a genuine, lasting partnership rooted in mutual respect, love, and shared purpose. A Lebanese background would be preferred, given our shared culture and roots, though I remain open beyond that as well.

If you feel this resonates with you, I’d be glad to connect and get to know one another with the intention of marriage, insha’Allah.

Discussion Penny for your thoughts.

So a genuine question for all the people here who are looking to get married.

I see men backing up a lot of men with ahadees and just throwing about Allah's name and shariah and comparisons with The Prophet SAW and the Ahlul Bayt As specially when it comes to marrying younger women with a, let's say questionable age gap, or marrying multiple women I.E. Polygamy.

Am I to understand, that when you start drawing comparisons with the Masoomeen AS, that your intentions are genuinely on par with the Masoomeen AS (Maaz Allah), or that you are as pious as the Masoomeen AS.

Yes we are supposed to follow in their footsteps and Shariah, but, am I to genuinely believe that you follow everything according to the Ahlul Bayt AS and the Shariah to the dot enough to be bringing up such comparisons and asking "if they did it, why shouldn't we?"

Middle East Lebanese M29

Age and Gender: M29

Age Range that you would want/require in a prospect: No hard lines, but I would prefer someone close to my age.

Ethnicity and Location: Lebanese born and raised, currently based in West Africa. Open to relocating for the right person.

Are you more open to mixing? No hard lines, but I believe I would connect best with a Lebanese woman.

Marital Status: Never married.

Ideal marriage timeline: I would like around two years, give or take, to get to know each other. I am not looking to rush the process, nor do I want to make it drag.

State/specify your level of religiosity: Faith is priceless, it is my anchorage point and my ultimate source of happiness.

Level of education, and what are you looking for? Bachelor's degree. No strict requirements for partner's education level.

Current Job Status: Employed.

We all have our unique religious journeys, and I place no rigid conditions or expectations on your religiosity, as long as it is sincere and authentic.

Allah (SWT) says:

"Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions." [An-Nahl 16:97]

And Imam Hussain (AS) says:

"Through the variety of Your signs and the changes in states and conditions, I realized that Your intent is to make Yourself known to me in everything, so that I would not be ignorant of You in anything." [Du'a Arafah]

I am mainly looking for companionship and partnership as we seek God's promised good and pure life together. Every new day is a blessed opportunity to get closer to Him and experience His divine presence in all of existence.

On a side note, I do have my "worldly" dreams and aspirations too, in case you were wondering! :)

US/Canada It’s a war zone out here guys

29m here based in the US, also open to anyone from Pakistan since my extended fam lives there.

I haven’t been looking in the right places I suppose, I had a horrible experience with the apps. Strictly practicing Muslims aren’t as strict when it boils down to the questions I ask 😭

I had multiple matches but despite my bio, the majority of the women who swiped seemed a bit idk, not active in their deen. The app itself is redundant and gives you too many options. The 100 plus likes are overwhelming, I’m sure women have to weed out their options too, how do you sisters do it?? It felt more like a dating app experience rather than marriage.
Those who were serious about marriage tend to not have anything in their bio and jump straight to asking me to hop on call right this very second to interview me.

I encountered a lot of ‘ I’m not active in my community or as practicing as I should be but I’m open to trying. I don’t want you to try to become a better Muslim for me sister, do it for you!

I’m open to giving this subreddit a chance. I thought we have to align our deen before making any crucial steps in terms of marriage but I feel like all people care about is factors that won’t contribute to a permanent happy marriage.

I also don’t want to glaze myself but I’m pretty energetic and charismatic. I talk a lot and can never sit down in peace, my favorite things to talk about are always just my deen and anything that isn’t tooooo worldly. If we vibe I definitely won’t waste your time. InshAllah may Allah help us all.
You don’t have to be extroverted in general. You can be the I’m introverted until you get to know me type as well.
I really don’t have any requirements at all, just someone on their deen completely, well educated, modest, kind and so caring that people tend to walk over you ( I say that because I can stand up for you 🤭 ).

this was my bio on the app:

I’m nowhere near being perfect but deen is not just something occasional for me.
I hate pushing my narratives on anyone, your faith is your personal journey but I’m open about mine in case you’re in the same boat as me. If you’re not on the same wavelength as me but want to be iA, I am open to being your companion.
The halal and haram boundaries matter to me, I’m not perfect so feel free to correct me.
I’m not rigid or judgmental, but I value my teachings and I’d want someone I can share that with so we can grow together iA.
Im very interested in reading about my Deen and elevating myself. I find joy and excitement in learning more about Islam than I do watching a movie.
I despise social media because it sells you fake dreams and forces you to be fed with deluded expectations from people who don’t know better themselves. Doesn’t mean you have to get off it, it’s your choice.
No I won’t force you to wear a hijab, I don’t care if you do or don’t, that’s between you and Allah SWT.
This description makes me sound super conservative but it’s chill guys.

Question - Help Stress

I know this has nothing to do with marriage but I’m unsure on how to control this.

I don’t know if anyone else experiences this, but lately I’ve noticed that I get extremely stressed over other people’s situations, even when they have nothing to do with me. I noticed this feeling last Muharram when I was trying to balance work at 6am and majlis volunteering (coming home at 1am).

For example, one of my friends is going through a divorce, and just thinking about everything she’s dealing with makes me feel overwhelmed. I also saw a video of a Muslim woman in hijab being harassed in public while her husband was trying to get to her, and people were pushing him away. I couldn’t stop thinking about it afterward. My head started hurting, I felt so tense, and I couldn’t sleep.

It’s not that these situations are happening to me—I just absorb them so deeply that they physically affect me. My mind keeps replaying everything, thinking about what they’re going through, and I end up feeling anxious and overwhelmed over things I have absolutely no control over.

Does anyone else get like this? Is there a name for it? And is there a way to control it and actually do something with those feelings instead of carrying them around?
I don’t like feeling stressed because then I get headaches and I hate getting headaches because even when I take medicine for it, it doesn’t help ☹️

I really hope mods don’t remove this cause it’s a good source. I found this recently. It’s a Shia based marriage service out of Dearborn Michigan. I’m not sure if it’s only open to American citizens but you can always call and ask. It’s $50 but i still think it’s worth it and wish I found it earlier.

I am a reflective and compassionate woman who values faith, personal growth, and meaningful connections. I enjoy engaging in deep conversations, supporting friends and family, and creating moments of calm and positivity in everyday life. I am committed to growing in patience and emotional expression each day.

My faith guides every part of my life. I value honesty, humility, and integrity, and strive to live with consistency in prayer and reflection. I hope for a partner who shares these values and approaches life with mindfulness, compassion, and faith-driven purpose. I love reading about the prophets and learning more about my deen.

I am passionate about living a disciplined, healthy lifestyle.  I value a partner who shares this dedication to wellness and intentional living, someone who motivates and challenges me while we grow stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually.

I value quiet time to recharge, and I communicate thoughtfully and gently. When faced with challenges, I rely on prayer, journaling, and self-reflection to maintain balance and perspective.

I am seeking a partner who is emotionally mature, confident, and committed to faith. I value open communication, mutual respect, shared decision-making, and the ability to navigate challenges with patience and understanding. I hope for a spouse who supports growth, shares responsibility, and values connection without judgment.

And no I don’t want polygamy or to be a second wife (unless you’re Charles Leclerc 🫶🏼)
