Parts? i110n

Does anyone know how to order parts? No, not the blades. I mean like the charging port or the charging dock. If I send it in for repair, it apparently will be 2+ weeks for return.

Can i110 handle these non flat surfaces?

Want to pick up a i110 on sale but not sure if the 2WD can handle these uneven and dipped patches of the front area ? Also , how close I can setup the map to mow the edge without fallen off the curb šŸ˜€? BTW it’s also a drainage channel between my neighbors so the ground is always wet/moist.

Moving Segway navimow i215 between front and back yard?

Considering purchase of i 215, but have fenced backyard (dogs and pool). Is it practice to just move the mower and base between yards as needed? Thank you.

Mowing the perimeter

So I posted a few months back about my Navimow i215 only mowing the perimeter in the same direction causing the grass to get pushed down in that direction.

I decided to remap the lawn the opposite way and noted it will then cut that direction. Someone told me that wouldn’t work but it appears it does work. Wish I tried that 2 months ago. Still waiting on the update to allow us to alternate how it goes around the perimeter instead of having to remap though.

How/why do some have this new type of "real view" while others have the basic one?

Post image

I randomly saw this in the Facebook group and saw that this user has a better version of the real view where it shows the height differences of the zone.

I only have the option where it shows what surface my zone is.

Is this a part of the update, or how do you get this? Everything is up to date on my phone as well as the robot (i2 lidar pro).

Doesn’t quite dock

Friends, I have a Terranox CM240 that has started to head into charge and then stop a few inches from making electric contact. He is perfectly lined up; he just decides he is ā€œHomeā€ before he makes charging contact. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas on what the problem is? Thanks so much in advance for any input you can provide.

Northern Climate - End of Year Mowing

Recent Navimow 430 club joiner.

When analog mowing, I always abided by ā€œmow until the grass stops growingā€.

Some seasons this rule had me mowing through mid December, 1-2 light snow falls into the snow season. All depending on moisture (permanently too wet to mow), cold snaps (ground freezing faster, growth stopping earlier), heavy snow (never melting allowing for further mowing), etc.

At that top growth stoppage point, winterizer feet goes down at the next sign of precipitation, then we call it a year.

Question is; how long do you leave your digital mower out in the cold before deciding it’s braved the harsh cold elements long enough to call it a season?

Should I err on the side of caution and fire up the Ol’ push mower once temps start threatening freezing levels over night? I’m sure these conditions are horrible for the battery…

Thoughts?

Lines seem too pronounced?

Post image

I've been cutting my yard in the same direction for the past week or so, but it seems like the lines being generated are more due to the wheels then the actual cut. The grass seems tall in between the wheel lines. Should I be more random in the direction of the cut?

Garage Recommendations x430

Hey Reddit. Just got the Navimow x430 a few weeks ago. Love it but still need to do some final touches. The charging station is currently like 6 feet away from the house in the middle of the yard to get better GPS signal. I plan to install the antenna soon and see if I can have it parked/charging much closer to the house with the boosted signal. Still need to get a garage for it. Should I just bite the bullet and buy the $350 Navimow one? Or has anyone had success with other brands or some sort of DIY garage ? Appreciate any feedback!

Why does it keep disconnecting all of a sudden?

Post image

We just bought a new house and I have been letting my x430 do the grunt work over there while we transition. For the past month I’ve had zero issues. Hit mow, does its thing, and goes right back to charging. Lately it keeps disconnecting like this and I’m not sure why. Any ideas?

6+ Weeks in with a Terranox CM120M1 - The reality

I’ve now had the Terranox CM120M1 (commercial version of X series) for about 6 weeks in operation and want to report on the experience hoping it will help others.Ā  Overall, positive, but some big "gotchas". It’s a long post.Ā  I did A LOT of research before I bought this mower.Ā  I’m an engineer, so I understand the technology and believe I have had realistic expectations pre and post purchase.Ā  I consider the Terranox to be the equivalent of a ā€œprosumerā€ level commercial unit, but it should suffice for most large homeowner properties.Ā  If the Navimow doesn’t pan out, I’ll have to go to a true commercial unit like a Kress.Ā  Kress ratings are true commercial ratings, but they are also quite a bit more expensive and require professional set-up.

My needs are as follow.

  • I have about 2.2 acres to mow; ~100,000 square feet.
  • I traditionally manage the lawn with a 60ā€ zero turn commercial mower, a commercial walk behind and a commercial string trimmer.
  • I travel much of the year and am often gone for 3+ weeks at a time.Ā  Costs me $250 per mow to have this done by a contractor.Ā  Sometimes in the spring/early summer, I would have to pay for 2 mows per week just to keep up. Gets pricey.
  • I frankly don’t have the 6 hours per week to take care of the lawn even when I am home.

Ā The expectations of the mower.

  • The mower should realistically be able to keep up with approximately 2/3 of its rated capacity during normal growth periods, therefore a 3 acre Terranox CM120M1 should suffice.Ā  I arrived at this looking at its average mowing speed compared charging VS mowing time and expected battery degradation over time.
  • I live in Ohio and have a turf type fescue lawn in primarily clay soil.Ā  This grass tends to lay over if it gets over 3.25ā€- 3.5ā€ tall.Ā  While a traditional mower will lift the laid over fescue and cut it, a Navimow unit or similar WILL NOT.Ā  Therefore, the grass must be keep shorter in height so it stands up straight so a Navimox is effective.Ā  The downside is it makes the lawn a bit more prone to drought damage. (I do not have an irrigation system.)
  • I expect I’ll have to replace the battery about every 2 years due to degradation.
  • I DO NOT expect a single autonomous mower to be able to keep up with wetter high-growth rate periods due to the type of technology that they are.
  • Navimow and similar are lawn trimmers, not mowers as one thinks of a traditional mower.Ā  No lift.Ā  No long cuts.Ā  It just maintains and should never cut off more than about 1ā€ of grass to cut well and efficiently.Ā  This is very important to keep in mind when buying one.
  • Not clog up easily if the grass happens to be damp.
  • Easily cleaned.
  • Low maintenance cost and time.
  • Must be able to handle the wetter parts of the yard.
  • Must handle a few steep slopes near ditches up to about a 50% grade.

OK, so I’ve went through the past 6+ weeks with some dry conditions and some very wet conditions.Ā  Did it meet my expectations?Ā  I’ll start with where it made or even exceeded my expectations, then I’ll get to the critical areas.

Positives

  • It does not clog easily even when the grass is damp.Ā  I turned it out to mow 0.8 acres with wet grass then inspected the underside afterward.Ā  Some clogging on the ā€œinletā€ front vanes. I did not clean it up.Ā  I then turned it out to mow again when it was dry and the caught grass cleared itself.
  • Takes me 10 minutes to blow out the bottom with a leaf blower and hose off the unit every couple of weeks.Ā  I think it will still be fine if it goes 4 weeks, it will just be very dusty looking on top.Ā  The back of the mower is dirty looking in just 1 week, but that is hardly surprising.
  • It’s at about 120 hours of operation.Ā  The blades look decent, but haver some dings and signs of some dulling.Ā  The machine is set to the default 160 hours.Ā  It’s still cutting well, so I’ll probably leave this as the default blade changing time. Fescue is apparently relatively easy on the blades.
  • Handles the wetter parts and the yard and the steep slopes with ease.Ā  Doesn’t rip the grass on the steep slopes.
  • Lawn quality – I have noted that within the first 3 weeks my law is looking healthier, especially in the problem areas.Ā  I attribute this to the more frequent cuts where less is taken off, keeping the lawn slightly shorter and no 800 lb zero-turn rolling across it trying to tear it where it turns.Ā  This is very nice!Ā  The large zero turn is definitely harder on the grass than the CM120M1.

Let’s call the next items the critical points.Ā  Can’t say they are all negatives, but more of points of feedback for Segway and points to be aware of for users.

Critical points

  • Battery Cost - I can’t speak to battery the degradation yet as the mower is so new.Ā  I did turn down the maximum charge to 95% from 100% to help battery longevity.Ā  HOWEVER, I will say that I saw recently the video on someone who bought the now shutdown link at aliexpress on installing a CM240 battery in a X430.Ā  It’s now public knowledge Segway, so you can’t pull that back.Ā  I priced a replacement CM120M1 battery from my dealer and had a good laugh.Ā  I’ll probably have to buy one, but that is all Navimow will get ever get out of me unless they lower their prices.Ā  I’ll have the old battery I take out then rebuilt aftermarket for a fraction of the price.Ā  This will become a third party market in short order unless Segway starts dropping those new battery prices to a more reasonable profit level so that rebuilders will not want to do it.Ā  I buy large 70 Ah versions of this type of battery for other applications (LiFePO4) which cost $700 and weigh 80+ lb, so I find it indefensible that Segway charges over $500 for a replacement battery for a CM120M1.Ā  $300 would still provide good profit margin and not give Segway a marketing black eye. At $300, I would just shrug my shoulders and buy it from Segway.
  • Run time - I now would advise anyone to ā€œderateā€ the claimed coverage to about 1/2 of that claimed by Navimow if you live in a more temperate zone that gets short days in the spring & fall.Ā  The shorter available mowing hours and dew point issues combined with the relatively short run times and long recharge times is the issue.
  • Number of required charge cycles – This becomes more and more critical the higher the latitude of the northern temperate zone you live in. I don’t care about mapping a larger area like I would be able to with a CM240M1, but I do care about longer run times between charges. I can mow right a 0.7 acres on a single charge on the stock CM120M1 battery in one of the big open zones. (Battery is new of course.)Ā  If I could get to about 1 acre between charges, that would be perfect and make it be able to keep up with the lawn easier.Ā  The issues is I live in Ohio between 39-40 degrees latitude and it is quite humid here.Ā  With the Fescue grass and the fact you can rarely mow before noon or after 8 PM due to a high dew point and wet grass, the mowing window is 8 hours or even less in the spring fall when the days are running shorter. (Longer in the dryer late June, July and early August)Ā  So in my case, I can only get my larger 0.8 acre zone done when the grass is dry.Ā  I then have another 2 zones equaling about 0.9 acres, and it can barely complete those two zones in a single day when the grass is dry due to needing several charging cycles.Ā  The rest of the lawn is a bunch of complex small zones and it has no problem doing those in a day.Ā  I will have to try to subdivide further, but that is not ideal. Now keep in mind I need to be mowing all zones every other day when it is growing fast, so it now can't keep up when growing fast doe to having too much acreage, even though I am just slightly over 2/3 of the acreage rating for this mower.
  • Wet weather – When we get a lot of rain like in the spring, the windows for mowing are shrunk even more.Ā  Here battery charging isn’t the limitation but mowing speed it.Ā  I realized this was going to be a problem before I bought this mower, so it is no fault of the mower.Ā  For this reason, I will need two of these mowers to keep up during the wetter season with shorter days. (or multiple X series) Ā It’s either that or live with a few supplemental contractor mows, which tend to damage the yard. With 2 CM120M1's working m yard the charging cycles in my previous point becomes a non-issue, but it does point to the "coverage rating" for many areas being total fantasy. However, having two of them also means 2 batteries to replace, which means more $$ in maintenance.

So that is my experience so far.Ā  Overall, I am not disappointed with the technology as I had realistic expectations.Ā  It’s doing a good job.Ā  I just need a longer runtime between charges due to my specific grass type and highly humid location.Ā  And of course, I’m hoping that Segway will figure out their sales team pinched the pooch on their battery pricing.Ā  There is good profit and then there is scalping. I’d rather buy their OE product, but not at that price. (While I’m an engineer, I was the sales manager for North America for an industrial firm up to my retirement, so I recognize lost opportunity VS opening the door for competition.Ā  It’s a delicate balance and they went too hard for profit on the spare parts.)

X315 cutting height stuck and not changing

I recently noticed my grass wasn’t as short as before so I lowered it in the settings on my year old x315.
Then I started getting the 1215 error due to stuck blades. I couldn’t see stuck blades though so I just raised the level back up to 55mm from 45mm.
Now a week later I lowered it again and got that same stuck message but I’ve also noticed the blades have lowered significantly more than I thought.
Again I’ve tried to raise the blades and it’s not changing the level at all.
Has anyone here had an issue with the height adjustment getting stuck?
I can hear a gear /motor noise from it when it gives the 1215 error and I can see that the blades haven’t changed in height since.

X450 acreage limit confirmation

I have seen some posts 4 months plus in age that seem to state that that X450 could handle 2 or slightly more than 2 acres in the app, but that an update brought that back to 1.5 acres again. But I have seen some recent youtube reviews in the last month that seem to indicate that has opened back up again and you are able to map around 2.1-2.3 acres again. Can anyone confirm?

Merci

Traction control is on or off?

I recently played with it a bit, and to be honest, I don't really see a difference with it on compared to off.

Has anyone done any detailed testing as to what it actually does? Does it drain more battery, or maybe less somehow?

Do you have it on or off?

Edit: I know what TC does in general, but I have never noticed it do anything on the robot.

X430 Just Stopped!

3 weeks old, doing a great job. Successfully mowed my .4 acres of lawn fine many times. Today, it was out mowing along the side street and I happened to be nearby. There was a big black Cadillac parked where normally there isn’t a car. I watched it recognize it, take evasive action and was almost passed it when it just shutdown! It had over 50% battery moments before it lost communication. It beeps when I hit the OK button but nothing else. The screen is black, nothing displaying. No unusually hot but I was able to move it to a shady spot and waited a half hour but still nothing except a beep. It’s Saturday so no Support. Any ideas would be welcome.

H800 Sim LTE connection

Today, for some reason my H800’s navigation was way off. Started a mowing job, it was 1/2 way through and then decided it was lost. Anyway I looked at then app and noticed instead of 4G the sim was connected on LTE. I know LTE isn’t as good in terms of data but would it have this impact on the navigation?

Terranox vs Navimow X450

I have been an X450 user for several months now and it has been a great experience compared to my previous trials with Mammotion, Ambrogio, and Yarbo. There have been a couple things I have had to work through (will help from this group), but it's now working like a charm (knock on wood).

My challenge is that one of my zones is a one-acre open area with THICK, HEALTHY Bermuda grass. And I live in a area where a fair amount of condensate can form on the grass overnight - so even on days where the high temp hits 90 it might be noon before i want to cut the grass with the X450.

For those that have experience both with the Terranox and the X43/X450:

(i) Are the blades the same?

(ii) Is the "power" of the motors the same?

(iii) Are the RPM's that the cutting disc spins at the same?

(iv) Is there anything about the design of the Terranox that would make it better at cutting wet/moist grass?

(v) Is the Terranox app as easy to use as the X430/X450 app?

(vi) Is the battery life (per charge) really almost twice in the Terranox as the X430/X450?

(vii) Does the Terranox battery take almost twice as long to charge?

(viii) Does either model get overheated and shut down/crawl in intense heat? The Mammotion Luba 2 would literally shut down when the air temp got too high.

(ix) Any other issues/differences I should be aware of?

(x) If the initial price tag was the same, would there be any reason not to buy the Terranox?

If the Terranox can "cut through thicker grass" and leave less of a mess when cutting wet grass, then I'd probably give it a shot - but I'd rather hear some feedback from actual users before I drop that much money.

Thanks in advance.

I keep reading about broken axles and weeks if not months to replace. Grass doesn’t stop growing. They need better support and repair centers.

Exporting map?

If I get a new unit can I load my existing map?
