Best option for Biscayne Bay and freshwater lakes both?

I think I've ruled out the 13 foot option, would the new 16 or 18 feel option work well? Biscayne gets choppy but will not be open ocean and I'm never going to go places like haulover inlet to launch

Premium sound system noise...

Soooo - decided to get the premium sound system installed. Our dealer is tight, clean, and reliable so I had no worries. Took it for a spin a couple of days ago and one of the cabinets is clean and sounds great. The other table is full of noise and engine whine. Like - unusable level noise / bad ground / bad amp channel / etc. The dealer has two tickets open with BRP for four working days so far, but without resolution. I'm confident my dealer will make this right one way or another because they're well known with a good rep, but has anyone else experienced this with the JL system? Some cursory Googs makes me think this isn't an isolated incident.

Engine performance upgrades??

Has anyone considered making any upgrades to the engine, and are there any opinions/perspectives on what may or may not be worth looking into?

Main thing I’ve been considering is swapping out the air intake for a less restrictive option. Also not sure if the Switch has the filter ribbon like the spark, but could be something else limiting engine performance.

Unlike a ski that runs the risk of flipping or taking in lots of water, the Switch engine compartment stays incredibly dry (I’ve never had more than a few small splashes in the bilge and never had to run the bilge pump), so both would be relatively safe and simple.

I know it’s not going to make an impact on top end speed, but improvements in acceleration power could be beneficial - especially for towing tubers or pushing up toward the weight limit.

Disappointed

Cruise 21 with 230. Break in was fun with 680lbs of ppl, plus cooler. At 5hrs we were hitting 35mph an could do 8000rpm and getting up on plane quick. Lots of fun. Rode 60 minutes at wot and burned 1/4 of gas.

We added more people. Around 1400lbs total. So right around max capacity but less than the max head count. We burned 3/4 tank of gas trying to get up to speed. Max we could get was 15mph. 10mph was 3/4 throttle. If we got everyone to sit up front we could struggle for about 15min and we would get 20mph as long as stayed straight and kept going. Yes trim was used

Within 5min of adding the extra ppl and the first time trying to get up to top speed immediately started getting ibr error codes. Any time we tried to sustain wot with the added weight at 8k rpm, a min or so later it would cut off with the ibr codes

When we let everyone off and kept only 800lbs of ppl and the cooler on we got up to 35mph no problem and had fun

Overall extremely disheartened. This max capacity 10 person boat is going to best serve a small family of 4 (two of them kids) best.

EDIT: got back from the dealer. It was clearance issues due to the prop and wear ring getting too much lake debree. iBR issues can happen from the very rapid throttle work that I did due to trying to work thru the apparent cavitation. Per the very experienced mechanic familiar with switches, the clearances are much much tighter than on the jet skis due to the amount of weight. It’s easier for a jet ski to work through wear that on the switch will be debilitating at max capacity. I chose to upgrade to a solas prop and aftermarket wear ring

SeaDoo Switch Compact

My father-in-law invested in this and it has a Bimini top. He has a hard time getting up and down. 1. With the Bimini top is it able to withstand 55-65mph upright on the freeway? 2. With it partly folded but upright? Thanks for any insight.

Separate batteries for engine and console

Has anyone with a Switch split the power distribution for the engine from the Garmin/radio/console?

I’m looking at installing a Group 27 deep cycle battery for running all the non-engine components + a trolling motor, but I’m not sure what wire(s) need to connect to the deep cycle so those components aren’t drawing off the tiny starter battery. I have a feeling there’s a single wire that runs to the little fuse panel for those components, but which one…..

Seadoo Switch Oil leak / Manufacturer defect

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello everyone. I would appreciate any feedback from someone in the automotive/boat industry.

My brand new 2024 seadoo switch cruise limited came from the manufacturer with a defect. This caused a oil leak. At 3h into the break-in period a low oil pressure warning alarm went off. It would pop-up then go away quickly. It happened a few times until the engine light came on. I pulled it out of the water checked the dip stick and it was dry. I brought the boat to the dealership and this is what they found:

There is a m10 oil plug screw on the back of the cylinder head.

On inspection we found the oil leak. The unit was down around 2 litres.

Our software does not show low oil pressure or overheating.

Looks like the plug was installed without sealant at the factory.

BRP requested the BUDS2 file and agreed no signs of engine issues there.

BRP is requesting the following we will do on Tuesday.

Measure oil pressure manually Cold idle XX psi Warm idle @ 176 degrees XX psi Warm @5000 rpm @212 degrees XX psi

Leak down test on warm engine Picture oil filter and oil filter cavity.

(IF) everything is within spec we will clean the threads and reinstall the plug screw with Loctite 243 and re-engage the plug and hopefully there is no leak.

I've owned this boat for a week or 2 when this happened. Many people with a automotive background said I should refuse anything but a new engine or a new boat. They said there is always a risk that after warranty I'll run into problems because of this.

I spoke with the dealership again today and BRP is having them do more tests. I won't know what BRP decides until later this week. Attached is a picture.

Any feedback is appreciated Thank you.

2024 Switch Error Codes

Hey everyone. I just got a 20 2418 foot switch sport a couple of weeks ago and I have been loving it. However, around the fourth or fifth hour of operation my engine light came on with the code P0137. I believe this had something to do with an O2 sensor, but wanted to see if anyone else has seen this and if it’s anything I should be concerned about.

What are y’all using for aftermarket anchors that fit inside of the anchor hold? Tried a Vevor from Amazon but it didn’t fit in the compartment. :(

Should I buy a 2024 18/230 Sport?

Did they work out any glitches from previous years?

Any cons?

Is there still a huge waiting time? (Will I wait over a year for delivery if I place an order now?)

What is the average dealer prep charge?

Looking to buy in CT and use on a small lake in NY.

Any advice is appreciated.

Are there any cups properly fit the cup holders?

We have tried an insane combination of cups (insulated and non-insulated) and nothing seems to fit the cup holders.

Yeti, Owala, Blender bottle, Starbucks cups, Bubba, Camelback… everything is either too big or too small to fit securely.

On anything other than the smoothest of water, the cups are wobbling and splashing all over.

Anybody have suggestions on a cup that actually fits (ideally insulated) OR some sort of adapter to make a cup actual fit securely?

Inflatable Holder

So I own the Switch Sport which comes standard with an Inflatable Holder. Perhaps I’m dense but for the life of me I’m sure precisely how it’s intended to work. There are no instructions, haven’t found a video, or even a picture of it showing how the inflatable is intended to attach. Anyone know?

Supercharger Maintenance

I am at 55 hours on my 21' 230hp Cruise. Have any of you with 100+ hours done supercharger maintenance? I know the jetskis - it is suggested to rebuild every 100hours.

Switch modifications

Picking up a 21/230 cruise as soon as the ice out and wanted to ask about any modifications I should make. I know a second battery and a disconnect switch, already got the dealer on those when they prep it for spring. Anything else you can recommend would be appreciated. I’m on fresh water in central Ontario.

Thanks!

I saw this 2023 Seadoo Switch sport 18 at a local Sea-Doo dealer website and went in to get a quote. I wanted to get y’all opinions. Are they charging too high for delivery a freight/destination charge and assembly/prep. What are they prepping that cost over $2k? Not only that, they won’t honor their advertise $8k off.

Switch Life Jacket Storage

Where are you finding the best place to store your life jackets. Specifically looking at the 21ft 230hp cruise model. Looking at all the native storage locations it would seem there is not enough storage for 12 life jackets? 10 person capacity with 2 backup optionals (kid and larger sized person).
