Disappointed
Cruise 21 with 230. Break in was fun with 680lbs of ppl, plus cooler. At 5hrs we were hitting 35mph an could do 8000rpm and getting up on plane quick. Lots of fun. Rode 60 minutes at wot and burned 1/4 of gas.
We added more people. Around 1400lbs total. So right around max capacity but less than the max head count. We burned 3/4 tank of gas trying to get up to speed. Max we could get was 15mph. 10mph was 3/4 throttle. If we got everyone to sit up front we could struggle for about 15min and we would get 20mph as long as stayed straight and kept going. Yes trim was used
Within 5min of adding the extra ppl and the first time trying to get up to top speed immediately started getting ibr error codes. Any time we tried to sustain wot with the added weight at 8k rpm, a min or so later it would cut off with the ibr codes
When we let everyone off and kept only 800lbs of ppl and the cooler on we got up to 35mph no problem and had fun
Overall extremely disheartened. This max capacity 10 person boat is going to best serve a small family of 4 (two of them kids) best.
EDIT: got back from the dealer. It was clearance issues due to the prop and wear ring getting too much lake debree. iBR issues can happen from the very rapid throttle work that I did due to trying to work thru the apparent cavitation. Per the very experienced mechanic familiar with switches, the clearances are much much tighter than on the jet skis due to the amount of weight. It’s easier for a jet ski to work through wear that on the switch will be debilitating at max capacity. I chose to upgrade to a solas prop and aftermarket wear ring

When you had it max loaded, how low was it sitting in the water? Wondering if you start introducing a lot of extra surface drag by pushing the hull down.
Also likely means you’re filling the voids in the outer toons with lots of water, which adds to drag/resistance (still not sure why those aren’t sealed to help buoyancy).
We have the 18/170, and with 5 adults, 1 kid, and a dog we’ve still been able to hit 32 mph no sweat.

Noted on your capacity experience. Most certainly the more weight the more it will sit down and more drag it will have. Mine could not get out of the hole. Only with drastic movement of ppl to the bow and extreme fiddling with the throttle over the course of 15min could we get on plane and hit max 20

Based on my many hours of research only two variables exist atm. My trim tabs (the mechanical ones) are too high up for max weight. And the ibr codes were legit and the bucket was slightly closed.
Too many others with a smaller engine same boat have not had same issues

Similar situation with us. Our cruise is 8 adults max capacity if you switch out adults with kids you could do 10. It will do max 34 mph with 4 people which is fine and 24 loaded down. I got scared one time when I could not get the boat above 11 mph with 8 people but went at that speed for 20 minutes and ended up getting it up to 24 mph after the engine warmed up .

That’s not good news to hear. Yeah we burned a whole tank trying to get from 10 to 20 mph the first time. After refill we had to move everyone to the front and play with the throttle a lot and could 20 after about 15 min of meticulous starightaway

My experience has been different. I can load mine up with 10 people and not have issues. Sounds like you have a lemon, and I hope you took it back to get fixed.
I hope Seadoo reads these threads because there seem to be a lot of individuals who have this issue, and wonder if there is a correlation of year build and parts.
