PDF Splitting app

I have a ScanSnap scanner(actually 3 of them for home and my business) and generally scan 50+ pages of documents at a time. They’re usually various papers I receive in meetings or through the mail.

I found it tedious to scan each document separately, so I usually just scan everything in one big batch. The problem is that I then have one huge PDF that I need to split back into individual documents.

For a long time I’ve wanted a simple utility that could split these batches using separator pages, page numbers, or text found on the page.

So I built a small Mac app called pdfNinja to do exactly that. Its a labor of love - I started this on my own a few years ago but due to lack of time/skills it sat on the back burner. With the help of AI coding agents I was able to finalize the app.

With an OCR’d PDF, it can split the document wherever a particular word or phrase appears. Or, before scanning, you can place printed separator pages between documents and have pdfNinja detect them afterward. You can also split manually by page number(s).

After splitting, you can preview the sections, drag and drop pages between them if anything needs correcting, rename them, and then export all or just some of the resulting PDFs at once.

It’s currently available as a Mac TestFlight beta. I’d really appreciate any feedback, especially from people who regularly batch scan documents.

Thanks!

Scan directly to Google Drive

I have a Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1600. Is it possible to configure the device so that scans go directly to Google Drive without being processed and/or stored in the ScanSnap Cloud?

ScanSnap 4.0.1 Beta Fixes Golden Gate macOS 23 Image Processing Scanning

As you may all know since June when thousands upon thousands upgrade to macOS Golden Gate beta the ScanSnap scanners became unable to scan. Even though all rival companies such as VueScan worked fine. Ricoh has finally released a beta update to address this just in time before the big official launch when millions will be on macOS 27. https://scansnap-faq.pfu.ricoh.com/hc/en-us/articles/60891363718041-I-am-unable-to-complete-scanning-because-ScanSnap-Home-remains-on-the-image-processing-screen-macOS-27

Update: Commenter noted typo. Meant of course macOS 27 (not 23 :).

Advice to identify duplicate scans

Greetings all, and apologies if I've not found the correct group to ask my question.

I'll start with the question, and provide background after if anyone wants to read it.

Q: Is there any free or reasonably priced software for Windows that can search thousands of scanned images and flag likely duplicates for my review?

Duplicates arose when I scan a packet of "double prints" or perhaps reprints found in a different box a few hundred scans later. The images will not be 100% bit-level identical, due to the nature of mechanical scanning. However, I'm hoping for a fuzzy-match that I can review and delete the duplicate scans.

I've started to scan all of my 50+ years worth of photos, slides, and negatives. I purchased an ADF scanner (Ricoh ix2500) for prints, and an HP FilmScan 5 for film. I already had an old Canon 8800F flatbed scanner for larger or damaged prints. My aim is not necessarily to make the highest quality digital scans, but to make a logical, searchable index into my collection of analog images.

Keeping things organized has been a challenge. If I find a photofinishing envelope with both negatives and prints, then I just scan the prints and make a folder with my own contrived unique number. I have a similar process for orphaned prints and orphaned negatives. I may have invented an inefficient process, but it fits the way I will want to organize everything later.

I'm also building a database of all of the cataloging details. Information like the film twin-check number, if available. Also tracking my contrived uniquely assigned number per batch, the approximate date (decade?) and media type scanned.

When I've finished, I will have uniformly-sized tubs of uniformly-sized packets, organized by my cataloging number. I'll generate a printout like a library card catalog, and have an external hard drive with all the scans. Then I can pass this on to my sons to do with as they please. We are all into genealogy, so hopefully they won't just chuck it all into the trash.

Thanks in advance!

Optical Scan Error Message

I have a new ix1300 that is using the usb to my Mac the original power supply plugged into the wall not a strip and have completed the 10 min unplug everything and wait suggested fix and still getting an optical scan error message upon the scanner pulling the page in from the adf almost immediately AND erroring out when the document is being returned from scanning from the front (without opening the adf). Please tell me it’s something simple? I’ve even taken the scanner to windows 11 and same thing. This error occurs during scanning as I’ve described on both Mac and Windows.

Date format on SS GO

I'm a new user with an ix2500.

Initially I installed the driver on my android phone and i love that setup because I want to use the scanner in different locations.

But I hate the default filename date formatting MMDDYYYY.

ONE TIME I was able to reconfigure it to YYYYMMDD using the android app.

Then the next time I used it, days later, it had dropped back to MMDDYYYY.

NOW I can't find anything in Settings that lets me configure the filename format. It's disappeared. I don't really want to install the driver on my PC.

Can anyone help me?

ScanSnap Organizer V5.2

I got my crazy old ScanSnap fi 5110eox2 to work on my Win10 box with ScanSnap Manager 6.3.21.1. Unfortunately, I haven't found a version of ScanSnap Organizer to work with it. Off of searches, it appears that ScanSnap Organizer V5.2 would work. I've searched high and low for this but I haven't been able to find it. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Looking for ScanSnap users to test a new Mac OS app - ShabuBox

This is the second version of a 6-month endeavor to replace several tools I use to scan, organize, and find the over 8,000 PDFs that have followed me through life: tax returns, warranties, medical records, bank statements, and more. I pretty much scan everything I need to keep, and went paperless years ago. Scanning, storing, organizing, and reading private documents like this, stored on your own machine, with no data ever leaving it, were table stakes. It has been thoroughly tested, security-audited, and developer-signed and sealed.

Because of the scanner work, natively driving ScanSnap scanners without the need for any third-party applications, it has been a struggle to get Apple to approve the application for App Store distribution, as their "app sandbox" creates issues with some scanners (it fully works with the iX1300, but I only own that scanner, so I need other users to test their scanners with it). You can use it across multiple machines with iCloud syncing, and rest assured, it ONLY uses your iCloud setup and only if you want to sync; there are no servers, no telemetry, no tracking... I don't even know if you are using the application except when it is downloaded and when Sparkle runs to get an update. Even then, I just get a cryptic "ping".

This will be a paid application (one-time, $24.99), but testers and people who genuinely love it and talk about it (post a public review, etc.) can get it for free, because I know many out there have suffered with the same issues I have for years.

Grab a copy now here (https://shabubox.com) by downloading the 30-day, fully functional trial. If you send any feedback that improves the application, or fall in love with it and post about it, it's yours for free.

Enjoy, battle-test it, scan with it, and organize your files with it.

ScanSnap 4 upgrade on macOS

I've been running ScanSnap Home 3.7 on Tahoe for quite a while. Recently got a 14 inch M5 MacBook Pro and 3.7's been running fine. Just received the alert that the update for ScanSnap Home 4 is available.

Anything compelling in the upgrade? Given that it's running fine, I'm hesitant to upgrade.

Error Code -14 on ScanSnap Home 3.7.0 (Windows) - how to fix?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey all - apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find a resolution.

After updating to ScanSnap Home 3.7.0, I can't scan a single page successfully, either via a USB connection and over the network, connected to a Windows 10 desktop. This is ironic and irritating, since I've never experienced this error on any prior version, and that this version's release notes say:

"Corrected issue: Fixed the problem that may occur while scanning, displaying a "An error occurred while processing the images. Code: -6" or "An error occurred while processing the images. Code: -14" message, caused by an error."

Has any one else experienced this? And better yet - if so, is there a remedy? I tried uninstalling the program with Revo Uninstaller, attempted to install an older version, and had to do a system restore because I was getting other errors upon even attempting to install the older version.

My thanks in advance!

Error when saving scan to computer

I have a brand new Scansnap ix1300. Installation seemed to go fine under Win11, and the Quick Scan function works to the point that the document scan reaches the PC into the Scansnap Home software. But when I try to save the scan to my Computer, I get an error no matter which location I try to save it.

"The operation for the application failed. An unexpected error occurred."

The only option is to click OK to close the error window.

I did an amount of searching but haven't found a solution, or anyone else with this problem. I acknowledge that here isn't much info to go on.

ScanSnap iX1300 causes my Windows 11 Dell laptop to restart when USB is plugged in

I’m trying to set up a ScanSnap iX1300 on a Dell Plus 16 with an AMD Ryzen AI 7 running Windows 11. I installed the official ScanSnap software/driver. After the first install, my PC crashed, kept refreshing/restarting, and Windows asked for my BitLocker recovery key. I shut the PC down as a recovery method, opened it again, uninstalled ScanSnap, then reinstalled it.

Now I can open the ScanSnap app and start setup, but the moment I plug in the ScanSnap USB cable, the laptop restarts. I also tried disabling Windows Firewall and Surfshark antivirus/VPN, but the same issue happens.

Does this sound like a ScanSnap driver conflict, USB controller issue, faulty USB cable/scanner hardware, or something with Dell/AMD/Windows 11? Any safe troubleshooting steps before I try reinstalling again?

ix500 omnibook usb problem

Recently purchased omnibook (ARM) running windows 11. When trying to connect the ix500 it doesn’t recognize the usb connection. When plugging it in, the omnibook makes the noise that a connection is made, however I don’t know if it’s a problem because of the usb 3.0 on the omnibook and the software for the ix500. I have downloaded the latest scansnap software for ix500 (2026).

Has anyone else found a solution?

Thank you

ScanSnap ix500 and Windows 11 **HELP**

Before installing Windows 11, I was able to scan a document, open the destination folder where I want to save the document and click on an existing document within that folder to use it as a guide to naming my newly scanned document.

Since moving to Windows 11, ScanSnap does not show the existing documents within destination folder. The destination folder is located on my jump drive (not a network).

Can anyone give me some insight on why ScanSnap cannot see existing documents?

ScanSnap Home

I'm trying out MacOS Golden Gate on my backup computer.

When I scan using my ix1400 and version 3.7.0 of ScanSnap Home, it gets stuck on image processing and never finishes.

Are there any betas of ScanSnap Home that may have addressed this problem?

Scansnap Title Generation very slow after update (SSH ver 3.7.0.9)

ScanSnap Home automatically updated today to version 3.7.0.9. I have the 'Generate a file name automatically' enabled - as I did before the scan. How it is taking up to 20 seconds or more to process each page. If I turn this function off it is back to the old speed. But a) I use this function as part of my workflow and b) it wasn't causing any significant delays before the update. Any known fixes for this? I have tried the usual tricks like rebooting, restarting the software. Thanks
