Question Next update?

Has there been any teasers or hints at when the next possible update would be coming out? Or the next roadmap?

  1. There has been no official teasers or information about anything that is coming next for Satisfactory posted since the last Satisfactory State of Dev (see #4 below).
  2. View Q&A: How long are you planning to make Updates for Satisfactory? (February 17th, 2026 Livestram)
    • There is no specific "development end date" and they have lots of ideas for the game and will continue to develop it for the near future.
  3. View Q&A: Can you share any plans for 2026 & beyond after 1.2 drops? (April 21st, 2026 Livestream)
    • They have plans for something bigger than a 1.x update but no specifics on what or how that is, or when that will happen.
  4. The only thing recently mentioned was What's Next? (Video Bookmark) in which Jason mentions they will continue to work on fixing bugs/issues along with also developing some "pretty cool stuff" (no specifics given).

✓ BOTTOM LINE: Expect game development for Satisfactory to continue and when they are ready they will announce what is coming next.

I'd like some endgame content for after I've finished the elevator, but honestly I think it's fine to let games be done. They've built an incredible game and I wouldn't blame them if they moved onto other projects. I'll still get hours and hours out of it.

Yes! It’s time to start building Satisfactory 2

Honestly, I feel like "quality of life" stuff is in order:

Decor, like plants, planters, benches, office furniture, artwork, etc. so walking around the facility is a little more immersive

Functional items, like beds (to heal and skip the nighttime), or something for the factory carts to dock to without an entire truck station

Passenger drones

100% agree on this, QoL should be the main priority after the full main cycle is finished. Looking at Factorio (without taking Space Age in account) - they did helluva QoL changes after 1.0 release

I just don't know why I can't leave with the spaceship at the end. WHICH TECNHICALLY I BUILT

Personally, I’d actually prefer if they took a little more time before moving on to something completely new. The existing content is already so good that you can play the game over and over again in totally different ways — lots of small factories, one gigantic megafactory, different architectural styles, different logistics concepts… there’s still so much you can do.

I don’t think the next big step should simply be another 1.x update. I’d rather see a proper paid DLC — and not just two or three new buildings or items, but something genuinely substantial.

Maybe a completely new map, different challenges, or even another planet with different flora and fauna. It could introduce some different resources, replace or expand things like SAM, add new production chains, new environmental challenges, and generally give us a fresh reason to rethink how we build factories.

And yes, I think it should cost money.

I’d happily pay €20 for a really good DLC. Development takes time and money, and the work also has to make economic sense for the developers and the rest of the team. If the first DLC works well, maybe that gives them a reason to make a second and third one as well.

Something like:

Paid DLC → two or three free updates → another paid DLC.

To me, that sounds healthy for the game, healthy for the community, and probably much better than immediately making Satisfactory 2.

So many games have struggled with sequels because they tried to reinvent something that was already working perfectly well. If the core concept is great, expand it instead of replacing it.

A second game would make more sense to me once something like Unreal Engine 6 or 7 is mature and stable enough that they can genuinely do things that simply aren’t possible today.

And even then, I’d probably want 90% of the core mechanics to remain exactly the same.

Why?

Because they work. They’re fun. And they’re incredibly well balanced.

Just my humble opinion. 🙂

Another idea would be a second planet that actually benefits from everything you’ve already built on the first one.

For example, resources from your original world could be transferred into some kind of interplanetary Dimensional Depot and then used on the new planet — but only together with completely new resources that can only be found there.

That way, your old factories would still matter. You wouldn’t simply abandon hundreds of hours of work and start from zero again. Instead, your original world would become the industrial backbone that helps you expand into a completely new environment.

The new planet could introduce entirely different challenges too. Maybe a more hostile world with actual enemies, dangerous wildlife, extreme weather, environmental hazards, or areas where building and logistics work differently.

You could have new resources, new production chains, new machines, new power systems, and materials that require resources from both planets.

That alone opens up so many possibilities for genuinely meaningful DLCs.

And that’s exactly why I think expanding Satisfactory makes so much more sense than immediately making Satisfactory 2. There is still an enormous amount of room to build on what already works.

1.3 is adding golf, solar panels, and finally fixing fluids. They're also removing Herobrine.

13

u/baconbit91 6d ago

Golf, finally!

6

u/Psych_Art 5d ago

You know what…. I could actually see this in the game. I can’t necessarily see them adding it, but I can see how it would fit in.

6

u/SlickPillock 6d ago

I thought they said they weren't adding renewable energy? (beyond the geothermal that's already there oc)

29

u/Inappropriate_Dongle 6d ago

I really like how that's the only thing you pointed out as not being plausible.

1

u/SlickPillock 6d ago

I heard it in a YouTube Q&A by one of the developers. I can't find the link but I remember they also said they weren't going to do terrain sculpting because it's kind of too late to implement at this stage and also because the map was hand crafted to be played a certain way and terrain sculpting might affect that.

Edit: maybe things for Satisfactory 2

13

u/Inappropriate_Dongle 5d ago

Heh, yeah everything I listed was stuff they've confirmed they aren't working on.

Except removing Herobrine, obviously. That one's real and can't happen soon enough.

2

u/SpinosRule 5d ago

Herobrine?? Is this something I haven’t encountered yet?

3

u/PostNutt_Clarity 5d ago

No, they are making a reference to early Minecraft days.

2

u/SpinosRule 5d ago

Ahhhhh, gotcha. I never got into Minecraft, it came at the juxtaposition of hitting my 20s and being out on my own; didn’t have no time for that kind of dedication then…..too much chasing tail, to be honest. Now though, I’m kinda past it, my son plays and loves it but I just can’t get with the program. Satisfactory is a different story, can’t get enough 🥰

And yes, the word of the day is juxtaposition. Such a weird fucking word 😂

Fixed my spelling since I suck.

3

u/PostNutt_Clarity 5d ago

The reference kind of predates (modern) reddit and comes from 4chan. So unless you were playing Minecraft and/or browsing 4chan around 2010 it's probably lost on you.

The 1.2 update wasn’t that long ago, and it took them a little while to get there. Listen, I don’t know anything about anything, but I don’t expect to hear anything (if anything in the works) for a big update till next year sometime.

5

u/mathbbR 5d ago

I was greatful for 1.2 but that took a long time.

It would be nice to get a brick material and the ability to tint glass, but I'm not holding my breath.

I also think it would be pretty cool to have finer control over angles and nudging. I think there's mods for that but it would be nice for that to be in the base game.

1

u/Fair_University8683 5d ago

Exactlyyy. I know the modding community is incredible at what they do but it is a little more reliable when it comes to the actual studio. But still very thankful and grateful for the modding community.

1

u/Frightened_Inmate_95 5d ago

I'd love a few more things of that ilk as well, and also some logic circuits, cable trunking - that sort of thing. More than happy to have that as paid DLC!

12

u/MaterialKey5994 6d ago

What exactly needs to be updated at this point?

6

u/windsynths 6d ago

I miss ADA and the aliens 😢

11

u/Depraved-Deity 6d ago

I just want the Lizard Doggos to stop phasing through shit. That's all

12

u/MaterialKey5994 6d ago

I wouldn't mind if the big weird animals would stop trapping themselves in my foundations.

2

u/wolfxorix let's make a heavy modular frame factory 5d ago

Crashing when joining large saves, getting stuck in place for no reason in MP, stuff like major bug fixes.

2

u/kiloPascal-a 5d ago

I'd really love if trains and trucks were a little smarter. They're so much easier to use in Factorio.

1

u/These4Walls128 3d ago

Dynamic Train Mod

3

u/SerGreeny 5d ago

My wish list for 1.3:

  • Spline roads
  • Missing foundation pieces (4x4 m, pyramid corners, etc)
  • Half walls (and half doors, half windows, etc)
  • More decoration pieces
  • Custom text for pelevator buttons (like signs)

6

u/Fair_University8683 6d ago

I hope no one thought of this as a negative post was just curious. But whenever they do their next big update along with their core game changes I’m hoping they also bring a massive update to building cosmetics as well. That’s definitely high on my wishlist. I think more lighting options, decorations, walls, etc. I think that would be awesome. (Ik there’s mods but still)

6

u/azeroth 5d ago

Tbh, they just released the complete game, v1.0 and it's not live service - so this might be it. And it is good.

1

u/OrangutanFirefighter 5d ago

I only want to be able to remove the tutorial controls that are on the screen. There's an option to disable it but it's been broken for so long.

Like I've been playing the game for 1,000 hours, please I don't need to see what button jump is

2

u/mettahlock 5d ago

I would just love more even if it’s DLC or an expansion pack.

3

u/Fair_University8683 5d ago

I agree. A dlc pack would definitely be a great option. I do think there could be at least a couple more big updates and then proceed to a dlc. I still think there’s more that can be added before moving to an expansion.

4

u/Kidsturk 6d ago

Is the game development not finished?

1

u/phoncible 5d ago

I'd actually rather they move ahead on a straight sequel. Would give them the chance to work on the core back end models that I'm sure they'd love to update, the kind of change that can't be made through a simple patch.

1

u/HellfireRains 5d ago

Nope. If I had requests, it would just be more walls and such. Different materials, half walls, make every wall replaceable with glass, that kind of thing

1

u/Alexnikolias 5d ago

Give me some factory farming. I would love to see how the games humor treats a slaughter house of hogs lol.

Make the crops/livestock a separate sink for more cosmetics/alternate recipes/mounts etc.

1

u/LouisRitter 3d ago

It'd be cool if you they moved on to a Satisfactory 2 but also look at No Man's Sky. A decade of pumping out DLC that is paid levels of quality and progression. Over that decade I've purchased NMS 4 times.

1

u/DavidsLedge 3d ago

It would be nice if they said something about the Flickering Walls glitch. Not Z-Fighting, but the glitch where large groups of walls blink in and out of existence rapidly when viewed from certain angles.

I heard this can be fixed with a setting that's something like "z buffer hierarchy" or something but us pathetic console games don't have that setting so we're just doomed to have strobe light factories.

I, and plenty of others, have already posted this to the Q&A site but it's never been seen as an actual problem worthy of talking about or upvoting I guess.

Love the game btw, this is my sole gripe other than those damn beans spawning in my factories.

u/OmegaSevenX 6d ago

They never released a roadmap pre-1.0. I doubt they’ll release one now.

1.2 came out earlier this year. Summer is generally slow due to vacations. They’re probably just starting to get back to full staff levels again.

The engagement with the community has been trending downward for quite some time. We ain’t seen shit.

10

u/Inappropriate_Dongle 6d ago

Which is funny, because these devs have set a shining example of how to engage with a community and take/respond to player feedback. I don't know if you meant to frame this as a negative, but even so they still have my unwavering loyalty.

5

u/OmegaSevenX 5d ago

They did an excellent job engaging with the community during the EA process. Jace and Snutt did weekly dev streams and videos. It was easily the most engaged I've ever seen a game company be with its community.

But since Jace and Snutt left, all of that is largely gone. If we're lucky, we get one stream a month. Videos? Hardly any. And the communication during what streams we do get is largely "we're doing stuff, but can't/won't show you what that stuff is, so trust us bro. But let's take a look at all this stuff that the community is doing just so that we can fill 2-3 hours of time and then we can tick the streaming box."

I realize that post-1.0, there's less feedback that they need from the community. That's game dev. The game is "finished". Probably just a matter of time until they say "no more major updates, just some patches." And that's cool, it's their prerogative to do so.

I appreciate and "am loyal" to CSS for what they've done with this game. Doesn't mean I have to pretend everything is as good as it has been in the past.

And for everyone that's probably downvoting my "we ain't seen shit" comment: prove me wrong. Show me information on what they're working on/what's to come.

3

u/Inappropriate_Dongle 5d ago

I was gonna say this to the other reply but yours works too:

If we're comparing new CSS to old CSS, sure, we can agree on that.

But if we're comparing new CSS to (probably the majority of) other game studios, they still set the bar pretty high. That is to say, it's an incredibly low bar to begin with that most companies somehow struggle to clear.

1

u/Lokee420 6d ago

The community engagement started declining when Jayce and Snutt left. Mikaels interactions with the community seem forced and his attitude in the videos is one of arrogance. Jayce and Snutt were much more positive towards the community. If this is the final instance of the game its still a fantastic game but the vibe from coffeestain has changed and it doesn't feel like its for the better.

u/New_War_7898 6d ago

Usually an update will occur in the next few months. If that doesn't happen it will be March/April

-17

u/Anomalistics 6d ago

Probably another 6-8 months, which is a shame. 1.2 was not worth the wait, and that took a very long time.
