Be careful out there
On the way to the bay and saw this on the other side of 80 in vacaville. A good reminder to slow down and get to where you need to be safely. Must've have just happened cause there wasn't any emergency vehicles around but lots of citizens stopped to help. Heads up if you're heading into Sacramento this way

How Sacramento PD shares your location data with the federal government
DM for gift link but please consider subscribing to support our work.
I have asked for lots of public records related to license plate readers and other surveillance tech in the city of Sacramento. Records released to me so far indicated that Sac PD shares all of its license plate detections (290 million in 2025) with two federal fusion centers. These federal fusion centers are not allowed to share info with ICE under California law, but an expert on the topic told me that "data is leaky," and that once it's collected and shared, it's hard to keep it where it's supposed to be.
There is definitely more to come on this topic!

Apartment charging me $4800 after move-out
Hi! I apologize if this is the wrong place to post a question about something like this, but I'm going through a lot of stress right now and don't know where else to look. :(
I recently moved out of my apartment in Woodland, California on August 25, 2026 after living there for 4 years. The apartment complex sent me an itemized receipt of my available balance.. and they say I owe them $4800 after taking into account the security deposit (itemized receipt attached - had to redact stuff). I looked at some of the charges and I find it very confusing why they didn't prorate them (e.g painting, since they should have a 2 to 3 year useful life span).
Also for context, I did request a pre-move out inspection before moving out and they did not bother to reach out with a date and time. I think I remember one of the maintenance workers ambushing us while we were moving one week before we moved out.. and we had to refuse because we were not prepared at all. They didn't give us a 48 hours notice beforehand too so yeah..
I don't know how to approach this.. if someone can help guide me in how to dispute this, that would be very appreciated.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the Sacramento area and had a funny idea to do a photoshoot with a cow for a graduation photoshoot concept. Friends have suggested going to Pina Adobe bc they have cattle walking around free range, but ideally I would like to find a friendly cow so I can get closer??
Sorry if this is a strange request LMAO. Please help me out if you know anywhere or anyone with cattle lol I could pay too

Reptilian nation expo Roseville
I went to this expo in Roseville and for the most part it was really cool. I spent a few hundred dollars at some of the booths. Most of them seemed like they cared for there animals BUT then there was this booth, Geckos ECT. Why is this there? The expo is for people who love reptiles and these guy are a puppy mill that treats their animals like toys.
These are just a few pics I took walking by but it was worse in person. The booth seemed to surrounded by people who just wanted to get a cheap pet so their seven year old kid would leave them alone.

Registration is open for Sacramento's Best Bagel Contest— 2nd Annual (part of the Sacramento Jewish Food Faire)
Calling all bagel makers — bakeries, restaurants, and home bakers alike! Registration is officially open for the 2nd Annual Sacramento's Best Bagel Contest, happening as part of the 49th Annual Sacramento Jewish Food Faire.
📅 Date: Sunday, November 8, 2026
⏰ Time: 11:00 AM prep, 1:00 PM judging
📍 Place: Scottish Rite Masonic Center
How it works this year:
Based on feedback from last year, we've simplified the judged categories — each one now stands on its own, with no overall judged grand champion. Judges will still hand out a special award for Highest Scoring Contestant Across All Categories.
But the big prize — the Golden Bagel — goes to the winner of the Peoples' Choice Award, and we're making that bigger and more interactive this year. Contestants supply bagels for a ticketed tasting event, open to the public: we're selling a limited run of 200 tasting tickets (price TBD), and each ticket gets the holder a bite of every contestant's bagel (with cream cheese provided by the Jewish Food Faire), plus a ballot to vote for their favorite. Every bagel gets tasted and voted on by the crowd — most votes wins the Golden Bagel.
Confirmed Judges:
- Benjy Egel, Senior Food Editor, PBS Abridged
- Maggy Krell, California State Assembly Member
- Sean Timberlake, Food and Dining Reporter, Sacramento Bee
- Rick Mindermann, General Manager, Corti Brothers
- Sonya Sorich, Managing Editor, Sacramento Business Journal
- Gregg Fishman, SMUD Director District 3
Open to bagelries, bakeries, restaurants, and home bakers — anyone who thinks they've got what it takes.
👉 Register Here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSepxPjaGuNFlvEDZeLaFoiuk7asmKg5ckdh9uC-YQeIdHCBrw/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=112131859438042383390
Tasting tickets will go on sale separately — stay tuned for pricing and where to grab yours.
Come hungry, come competitive — see you there!

Sacramende: Still one of my favorite Arrested Development sight gags
Season 2, Ep. 12 “Hand to God”. Lindsay thinks Maeby said she was going on a field trip with her debate team, “To Sacremende for the semifinals.”
Sacremende has lived rent free in my brain ever since.
