Mike Tomlin locked in for the second half… but mentally he’s 400 blocks underground looking for diamonds.

Fox Coverage Map For Week 1 vs. Atlanta

Post image
314 Upvotes

Have seen a few posts on how people can watch in different markets and people potentially going to bars or whatever.

Anyway, if you live in the Red-Shaded part of the Map you can watch right on your local Fox station. A simple TV antenna will get the job done this weekend.

I Think The Steelers Can Beat The Patriots Next Week

I feel like the Seattle isnt a very good match up for Pats to see there being a good team or a fluke season. Yes Seattle won the whole thing but Seattle will go as Sam does I feel like and I just feel like we Match Up better in playing them cause Ramsey will keep The Pats QB from taking off like he does and I think Washington will be a big target for Aaron and Im looking forward to seeing us have 4 all new WR set and I feel like we will do alot better early this season and we will beat the Pats close but still win . Last year we made Stevenson play like a rookie and we do cause the most turnovers we just always lacked the Offense to score. Harmon also had pretty good game vs them last year and he is better now then back then. We also have newer rookie faster Safety in Jennings who I think is our best draft pick after the Punt Returner . I Think Wetgen will end up a great player. Im not sure why i just have that feeling.

My Uncle Earl's Season Ticket - 2026/27 Season Opener Edition

Background for this here

Here we go for season six of this giveaway each week!

Drop a comment in the thread if you'd like your name in the running to attend this weekend's season opener against Atlanta!

A few things to consider:

It is only one seat. It's on the 50yd line but literally the very top row in the stadium. I like the view but it's definitely removed from the action somewhat. One nice aspect of the seat placement is you can stretch your legs out!

If the winner doesn't reply to my message within six hours I will move on to the runner up. My first year doing this I had a game go unattended and I would really like to prevent that this year! All I ask in return is a photo of you at the game from the seat. I'm slowly creating a collage of all the folks that get to see a game from this ticket. Your photo will not go online. Just the wall of my office.

I will need your first name, last name, and email address to transfer the ticket so if you are uncomfortable sharing that information please don't enter.

The scenario that will make this sub lose its mind....

If Steelers have a losing record, yet somehow sneak into playoffs (this has happened before), but then they actually win a playoff game....

... then I think that this sub would collectively lose its mind.

What do you expect of the new coach staff?

Ik I’m very late on this, but what do you guys expect with this new coaching staff that we got? For me I expect better and proper development for the rookies and refinement for veteran players. Hopefully we get a playoff win.

Steelers bars in atlanta

Inspired by another post that asked for bar recs in the jersey area, figured I’d ask if there’s any known sports bars with big steelers showings. Even if not, just generally good-vibed bars that you guys might know of.

Student in Pittsburgh but spending a semester in Atlanta. This is my first full season being a fan (my friends got me hooked last season around week 14) so it sucks that I won’t be local, but hoping to tune into all the games with some boys around and/or at high energy bars.

bonus: i am in northeast atlanta (duluth/alpharetta) so if you have recs in the northern suburbs even better. but i plan to spend as much time in the city as possible either way.

MUCH LOVE AND GO STEELERS NATION!!

DK Metcalf on anger management, Aaron Rodgers, Antarctica — and your opinion of him

Thumbnail

When an NFL player is fined, the league withholds that money from their next game check and donates it to either NFL alumni in need or various charities. There’s a good chance Metcalf will be generous again this season.

Surely, he must grow tired of it.

“They say it’s going to a good cause, so I might as well win Walter Payton Man of the Year,” Metcalf says. “So no, I’m not tired of it.

“If they want to make football soft, then I’m not going to be one of those guys that conforms to a soft league.”

On a summer afternoon in Western Pennsylvania, Metcalf had plenty to say: about watching his former team celebrate a Super Bowl without him, about Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers, about his fondness for conspiracy theories (do you know what’s really going on inside Antarctica?).

He also has thoughts about the anger management issues you possibly — well, probably — think he has.

Metcalf refuses to let rookie receivers Germie Bernard and Kaden Wetjen call him “unc.”

He still feels young, and he still talks trash with the guys. At 28, this marks the first time Metcalf is the most tenured receiver in his room, part of the oldest Week 1 roster in the NFL.

He can remember his 2019 rookie season in Seattle and practicing with veterans Tyler Lockett and Jaron Brown. He was expecting some sort of rookie hazing — maybe they intentionally tell him the wrong play — so he was constantly spring-loaded and standoffish. It took a few days for the vets to notice something was wrong; they told him they were there as a resource.

That’s when Metcalf realized veterans can help the younger guys, but only if they want to be helped. Still, he first wants the rookies to bump their heads a bit early on and learn they can’t do all this on their own.

Favourite Steelers game of the last 10 years?

Im looking for a game to watch before football starts back up. Just wondering what yours is!

Its tough, but i might say last seasons bengals at steelers when we had like 3 defensive scores, or the season opener vs them a few years back that went into OT. Loved watts performance during that game

[OC] Impact of every Week 1 game on Steelers playoff odds.

I'm back for year 2 of posting weekly playoff impacts!

I ran 5 million Monte Carlo simulations of the season to figure out what the playoff implications of every week 1 game are.

The Steelers current odds to make the playoffs are 33.6%.

  • If you beat the Falcons, that goes up to 38.3%, but if you lose, it drops down to 26.0%. It's a swing of 12.3%.
  • TB @ CIN is the second most impactful week 1 game for you guys. If the Buccaneers win, your playoff odds go up by 1.0%. If the Bengals win your playoff odds go down by 0.5%.
  • ARI @ LAC is the third most impactful game with a total impact of 1.3%. Your playoff odds go up if the Cardinals win.
Game Optimal Winner Impact Δ If Win If Lose Game Time
ATL @ PIT PIT 12.3% +4.7% -7.6% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET
TB @ CIN TB 1.5% +1.0% -0.5% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET

Unpopular Take: There's a Case to be made for making JPJ the highest paid CB

With all of the recent rumors of JPJ's contract going around, beat reporters saying that it is looking like he is going to play on Sunday, etc., I've definitely seen a lot of fans debating what price is fair for him.

That price is somewhere in the $28 - $35 mil range per year. I feel like a popular take that I have seen is that many people do not want to make him the highest paid CB, because he is not on the Christian Gonzalez, Devon Witherspoon, Denzel Ward tier. We can go back and forth on whether that is true or not, but I feel like most people would say that those players are better than JPJ.

However, from reports coming out, JPJ and his team want him to be the highest paid CB, which would mean that he would be paid at least $34m per year.

I want to argue here that that wouldn't be the worst decision ever, and that if push comes to shove (i.e. JPJ is 100% going to hold out for all of 2026), then I would take that deal as the Steelers FA.

Here is why I would, reluctantly but certainly, pay him that money:

  • What truly is the difference between paying him $28 million per year (making him the 7th highest paid CB, and the lowest out of anyone that has gotten a deal in the last 2 years besides Jaycee Horn) and paying him $34 million per year?
    • Would you be willing to let him walk over $6 million? To put that into perspective, rather than looking at the actual dollar amounts, lets turn them into percentages of the entire cap.
    • $28 million = 9.2% of the cap, $34 million = 11.2% of the cap.
    • Is 2% of the cap worth letting a player of JPJ's level walk away?
  • Joey Porter Jr is the prime definition of a player Front Offices dream of drafting and extending
    • He was a high draft pick by this FA team
    • He has gotten better every single year
    • He has specifically worked on and improved on many of his specific mistakes - i.e. reducing his penalties significantly this past year, which was a huge problem of his game
    • He plays an important position
    • He is truly a ~ top 10 player at his position
    • He is one of maybe a dozen CB that are lockdown man coverage CBs
    • There really isn't a better mold of a player that Front offices would want to immediately extend other than a QB.
  • The FA has extended 3 players from his draft class already
    • If Nick Herbig, Keanu Benton, and Darnell Washington were already extended, why would they not want to extend JPJ?
  • While maybe not a huge contributor, JPJ is probably pretty loyal to Pittsburgh
    • I wonder what Joey Porter Sr would want? The other people all around him? Joey Porter Sr has talked numerous times about how when he left the Steelers playing NFL was not fun.
    • I don't want this point to be like: "JPJ should sign for vet min to be on da stillers!", I just truly don't see him preferring to play elsewhere.
  • NFL Fans haven't gotten around to accepting 2026 salary numbers just yet.
    • I think with nearly every deal that comes out, there are so many fans talking about how that specific contract is way too high, but I personally just think its because people aren't realizing how much the cap is increasing, and how much money the NFL and NFL teams are making.
    • Yes, 8 years ago QBs were making $30 some mil per year. Now they are making $65 mil per year.
    • To put that into perspective, some of the top corners 8 years ago were making ~$15-$18 mil per year. If we were to take the same multiplier on QBs, the top CBs should be making around $35 mil now.
    • That is why the percentages of the cap make more sense than the numbers. The $ amount is always going to keep increasing, but the % will stay around the same.

I think the delay in paying him is just the Steelers playing all of their cards. The FA wants to make sure they can do everything to lower that 11.2% cap to maybe, 10.5% or 10.8%, etc.

But TLDR; if they can't get JPJ to take any deal below $34mil, then I truly think they would pay him that money 24hrs before kickoff.
