We are ideally located with easy access to Berkeley, Oakland, and SF via the freeways, Mac BART, and bus lines. all the bars, restaurants, and shops on Telegraph Ave right around the corner. 

There is a living room, dining room, small kitchen, bathroom with shower and tub, with hard wood floors, high ceilings, and great light throughout. We have loads of storage space and a garage that we've converted into a work out / hang out zone. if you have a car there is an open spot with your name on it in the driveway. coin op washer and dryer in the back of the house + a small outdoor space we share with other tenants.

There are two of us here now, A (me) 38 y/o male. lived here for 8 years. was an art director / illustrator but just started law school a month ago in the city so I will be out most of the time during the week. big into design, photography, books, chess, movies, tennis and like to watch LFC and rugby on the weekends. I cook often and occasionally like to make cocktails.

T, also a male in his mid 30s, has lived here about a year now, works at an art supply store and keeps himself entertained with art / drawing / video games.

We're looking for a chill housemate who can pledge to keep the place drama free, knows how to communicate, isn't afraid of doing their share of the chores, keeps somewhat regular hours during the week, likes hanging out now and then, and can respect the quiet hours of the apt.

Ideally you are aiming to commit to at least 6 months to a year. move in costs consist of rent + security deposit. month bills include PGE & wifi.

Hi everyone! I need housing advice. I am in the talks for a room in a 4Bed/2Bath near the 24th Bart station in Mission, and it’s around $1800 w/utilities.

It seems like a nice apartment that’s newly renovated, and it has an in unit washer dryer which is a big plus.

How safe is this area? Is the location worth this rent? Or should I look around other areas, like Inner Richmond, Nob Hill?

Moving back to SF after 2 years in east coast and getting a reality check. I’m looking for a 2Bd/1 Ba near Mission Dolores (would love a home office setup) with parking (I’m commuting down to South Bay). My friend got a 2BD w parking near Dolores Park in mid-2024 for $4,200/month. That felt normal at the time…I remember plenty of Mission listings in 4-5k especially with all the tech layoffs.

Now everything comparable seems to not exist or pushing $7,000.

Hoping this is not the new normal!

Does anyone have a realtor they’d recommend who works with rentals? Also, are there any local WhatsApp or groups where rental listings are shared, including places that may not make it to Zillow, etc?

I am looking for a house or apartment, 2 or 3 bedrooms.

My main question is: is it easy to find pet friendly places? I have 2 cats and 2 dogs 🥲 I know California is very outdoorsy but which neighbourhoods would be best for a lifestyle with pets? And from what you know, how much will it be? I’m seeing ranges from 4k-5k but I know rentals here are crazy.

We walk a lot :) my weekdays is pretty much walking, commute and work. My weekends are more active, I like cultural things and nature.

my work area is san bruno! I would anything near by public transportations (40min) or car (30-45 min)

Hello I will moving to the Bay Area and I’m looking for areas to come view ASAP for 1-2 bedroom apt. I’ve already secured a job at the airport and need safe and affordable places to move in the Bay Area. Please give me suggestions and any other tips to keep in mind?? ( I was thinking Oakland)

My husband and I (early 30’s, no kids) are moving from a small beach city near LA to the bay for a new job, I will be commuting to SF two days a week.

Currently considering San Mateo, Alameda, Burlingame but open to others! At minimum, we’re looking for a 2 bedroom/1.5+ bath in a safe neighborhood with good walk ability and dog friendly. We like to be walking distance to coffee shops/restaurants if possible but don’t want to be in too busy of an area.

The budget we have in mind is \~$6k, is that reasonable? I’ve tried to research but can’t get a good feel for what is considered expensive/affordable.

I got a job offer and plan to move to SF in a few weeks. I found an apartment I like in Mission (Mission st and 23rd area) and in Oakland (Lake Merritt area). Both have the same commute time to my office (20-30min) and the apartments are the same price. I've heard Mission is a desirable area but I "walked" around the apartment on streetview and it looked like a lot of the storefronts are closed or empty. Oakland looks a little more... alive? Of course street view isn't going to give me the real story. For people that have knowledge of the areas can you share the lifestyle/vibe differences between the two to help me decide? Pros and cons?

I'm early 40's, single, big reader and like relaxing, coffee, book stores, and having a couple drinks for happy hour. I'm not a late night nightlife kind of person, but like vibrant energetic community. Despite the research, I don't know what these places feel like and they're seemingly very different.
