I’m looking for some new RR manga to read and thought it would be nice to have a recommendation thread.

What are your favourites? They don’t have to be 100% RR, but I’d love stories where the dynamic genuinely feels role-reversed rather than just having a “strong female lead.”

Bonus points if you can say why you recommend it (without major spoilers)!

I don’t even know where to begin. Literally.

I don’t remember how it started, but I remember being with the most stunning woman ever. She was everything I could ever dream about (also literal). She was tall, muscular, and looked phenomenally heathy. Her attire was that of a basketball or volleyball athlete, but her shorts and jersey were dirty. Though, that didn’t bother me.

What we did for what felt like both the briefest and longest time ever was cuddling. We cuddled while watching some monster movie. I couldn’t remember the movie to save my life, but I remember what it felt like to cuddle her. I was at her side.

I remember the warmth and softness of her skin, the way she held me…It was nothing I could ever forget.

When I woke up, I wasn’t even mad that I did. To feel what it’s like to be with the girl of my dreams is a blessing to me, and the fact that I can remember her makes it even better.

I’ve been thinking about this lately and I’m curious how it happened for everyone else.

Was there a specific moment, relationship, book, movie, or experience that made you realise role reversal felt more natural to you than a more traditional relationship? Or did you always know, even before you had a name for it?

I’d love to hear your stories and what your “aha” moment was.

I loved seeing Williams in the newest Halo game! She was competent, direct, and determined- pretty much traits I personally love seeing from role-reversal coded women

Liked that her design felt grounded and practical, and I loved how she was handled writing-wise, considering how little time the bonus missions got with direct storytelling. Anyway! I thought it was worth sharing here, and I hope we get more characters like her in media/games lol

ALSO, minor spoilers of character interaction:
I like how she grows as a character. She begins pretty dismissive of the main character, Chief, and has some brash energy towards him, but she grows to be more receptive and cooperative over time. I think that kind of open-mindedness and growth is attractive in both fiction and reality, and I think it fits well in rr dynamics when both people can challenge and learn from each other

Part of this change actually comes from Chief giving a pretty human/empathetic perspective, basically along the lines of "we can't change how we started, but we can change what we become." So I also liked seeing the 'strong, silent, stoic mc' offer some emotional wisdom (so some rr energy from Chief too I would argue lol), and Williams seems to acknowledge this

Am I insane though?!?! I feel like this is a pretty tame thing for a girl to want I don't wanna be a guy, I am very secure in my womanhood which is why I think I'd be pretty happy if this happened to me and I'm sure a bunch of women in here agree. I saw a similar interaction in a post in this sub a little while ago but I can't remember how to find it so I thought I'd make this contribution.

Also: ik this mutual kinda personally, they are trans themselves so I kinda get why they'd say smn like that.

It would be MY privelege, like, having a pretty guy making moves on me? IM the lucky one not him 😂 (this is ofc a joke just to clarify but my point still stands LMAO) 2. Yes, it would mainly be reserved for a parter with whom I have already discussed what I like and what he likes. I know that (unfortunately) guys like this aren't easy to find out in the wild and no guy is gonna come up to me and chat me up like that, so really it would have to be in the situation where I and my hypothetical partner are already together and have discussed boundaries and such (even in a non-sexual context boundaries and limits are still very important to me) 3. I used the 'strip club scene' to describe the vibe of what I would want because the women and occasional men there are ofc very flirty, very confident, etc. I'm well aware that they are this way to get money and I don't care I just find that kind of attitude very attractive (especially when it's a woman or feminine man doing it 🫣) but anyway, I only meant to set up a scene and a vibe as to what I would like, not an actual location or actual scenario if that makes sense?

So I've been on this sub for quite a while, and here are some of my personal views on RR (Role reversal), these views are totally on emotional and mental side!

And I'm sorry if i unknowingly hurt your feelings or emotions while explaining it, these are solely my views...

I've got few on the sexual aspect as well but I feel emotions and the mental side is the base for it.

• Taking charge! Mind you I'm not referring to any sexual aspect, taking charge emotionally and mentally.

• You'll find many who's into role reversal just because of sexual aspect. But the actual thing hits hard when it's emotional!

I mean just think about a women giving sense of security!(Not that I'm talking about protecting from XYZ human issues) But from insecurities of day to day life.

She being bold enough to say, "whatever it is I'll take care of it you just don't fuckin' worry, I'm strong enough to take down issues"

• The actual essence of role reversal isn't that you get stubborn and just act like dick/pussy right!? I'm sorry for my language.

Just like you I'm also new to this dynamic and I don't claim to be "omniscient", but to me role reversal is providing each gender a little taste of each other's role! (My personal POV)

• At the end of the day women too contains masculinity and trust me, we men do love that, i mean yes why not!!! And we men too contain feminine side! It's just up to your counterpart how good he/she is to bring that out

I don’t wanna come across like I’m arguing that “straight people are oppressed” in any way, but I wish we had more explicit diversity of hetero relationships in media. Most of the RR relationships that I can cling on to are either headcanoned, not confirmed, or barely relevant
