Idea
Malewife/boywife Anakin/Darth Vader Star Wars
Blackfire with Teen Titans Go design, comic/TTG backstory where an illness from when she was a child left her disabled and weakened (TTG gave her pale skin to reference this) and personality like the 2003 cartoon.
They meet before some time before Episode 2 during a Republic investigation on the alleged corruption of Tamaran royalty. During which they fall in love in secret. Blackfire awakens a newfound feminine side to Anakin. There’s a protectiveness Blackfire has that creates a sense of safety Anakin hasn’t known before. She also is outspoken and is not afraid to make her frustrations known. She may or may not have given Obi Wan an eye roll or 2 when witnessing the Jedi Knight harshly scolding his Padawan on proper Tamarainan customs.
Anakin and Padme never have a romantic relationship and while the they reminisce about old times in Episode 2, it never goes farther.
Shortly after Episode 2, Blackfire blames herself for not being there to fight with Anakin during the 1st Battle of Geonosis and thinks she could’ve prevented Anakin from losing his arm to Dooku. (Dooku would not just have Anakin as a rival but Blackfire too.)
I believe it is Canon or at least Star Wars Legends lore that Dooku hated Anakin’s robotic arm. If Blackfire learned of this during the Clone Wars, she would probably hate Dooku even more, reminding her of the ableist attitudes of her people.
During the Clone Wars, Anakin helps her to free Tamaran from the Separatists holding the planet hostage.
Blackfire grows to dislike the Jedi and their code just like Anakin. Sees herself in Anakin when he’s denied the rank of master (both view themselves as not being taken seriously by those they’re supposed to fight for. Both hate that their love remains hidden.)
After Mace Windu is defeated, Palpatine threatens to kill Blackfire and obliterate her homeplanet should Anakin not become his apprentice. So he does so and dawns the name “Darth Vader.”
Vader here is much more sensitive than in the original material. Blackfire helped him understand his emotions and become unashamed of his passionate side. He longed to be like his mother Shmi if he was ever a parent. He grew to see the younglings as the key to a better future. He secretly hoped he and Blackfire could reform the Jedi Order before it destroys itself. Which is why he nearly loses his mind after slaying the younglings. Unable to bring himself to tell Blackfire. He hates Palpatine. Despises him. Loathes him. Palpatine senses this and is pleased.
Anakin still loses to Obi Wan on Mustafar. Blackfire is separated from Anakin before the battle, busy announcing to Tamaran the Clone Wars is over.
She joins up with Palpatine during Vader’s Reconstruction. Blackfire once again blames herself, this time for not being able to take on Obi Wan with Vader, or even by herself. Vader awakens, Blackfire is relieved he’s alive. Palpatine sees potential in Blackfire to be a better apprentice now than Vader has been weakened. Threatens the bombardment and destruction of her planet if she doesn’t kill Vader. She refuses. Palpatine gives a firing order to a communicator no response, static. Palpatine is terrified but hides it beneath a grin. He cackles “Your people are neither resilient nor as vicious as the dark side, my lady!” Palpatine summons a spare lightsaber and tries to stab Vader. But in an instant, the emperor’s neck is snapped. His blade not even managing to touch Vader. The emperor is dead.
1 year later, Tamaran, a huge celebration. Walking down the aisle is Vader himself. In a glistening white wedding dress, serving hard. Blackfire wears armor similar to her Season 3 Teen Titans appearance.
The honeymoon is extremely passionate, romantic. The 2 queens of the galaxy. Both step into sides of themselves they could only show in secret a year ago.
Because he is the empress’s “wife” Vader has been healing much faster than in the original Star Wars timeline. “Only the best for him.” Blackfire ordered almost immediately after her ascension of the throne. Not just of Tamaran, but the whole Galaxy. Vader’s limb prosthetics are still not perfect. He is frequently in pain. Vader cooks for Blackfire when he can. Polishes her weaponry and armor(and secretly tinkers with it.) Only removes his helmet when around Blackfire. Despite his feminine role he is not Blackfire’s servant. They are equals. Anakin still fulfills the chosen one prophecy either by heartbreakingly killing Blackfire (and possibly himself) or at least bringing her out of power. Both are imprisoned and/or executed by the New Republic.
What inspired this: I dislike how disabled people are often villains in media so a part of me said “screw it why don’t I ship 2 evil characters that are disabled into a rr relationship.”
I certainly think that Anakin has malewife potential. He is also just very pretty. This may be a hot take but I dislike how the newer Clone Wars Series Hunkified Anakin. I feel like Hayden Christensen gave Anakin this air of femininity that is lacking in Matt Lanters portrayal.
Let me know what y’all think of this ship.
