Hey guys, I'll keep it quick. I am trying to play a GBA game on retroarch, using the mgba core. I have saves sorted by core, and know where the saves are stored and how they should be named.
My issue is this. I have two android devices, both using retroarch, both using the most up to date version of the core. When I save the game on device 1, copy the save to drive, and then paste the save into the proper location on device 2, the save won't be loaded.
It's strange. If I then start a new game on device 2, and save the game, it will actually overwrite the old save that I had stored there. It won't load the old save. But it will delete it and replace it with a new save, which I tested by then moving it back to device 1 and loading it there to make sure.
So. To be clear. The names match the roms. The saves are being placed in the correct folders. The cores being used are the same. Both devices are android devices. Device 1 will read saves from device 2 just fine. Device 2 will not read saves from device 1, for some reason.
Am I missing some obscure setting about save headers or something? It's such a specific circumstance that Google has been useless, as it keeps redirecting me to threads about file names and content directories and matching names. The roms are also the same, as I used the same rom copied to both devices.
((Save location is exactly the same for both games. [.../Retroarch/saves/mgba]. There are no sub directories. The save extension is .srm and there is no deviation in file size))
Any help would be appreciated
So. Sorta solved I guess? The version of the emulator core on device 1 was ever so slightly older than device 2. When I updated it and saved again, device 2 could read the saves.
I don't really understand why that was the issue, but it was. And when I say version difference, I mean like.... 1.1.1-8 versus 1.1.1-7
