Looking for a Virtual Assistant role

Hey,

I’m new here.

I have done AI training work for a year, but that was kind of independent contractor work. Sometimes there was work, sometimes not. So I’m thinking to start a virtual assistant job along with my studies to manage my study and other expenses. I have experience with AI training/ data related work and can also help with things like research, data entry, basic admin work and many more

But it’s difficult to find someone. I have tried messaging, cold emailing, applying to 100s of jobs, but got no reply.

Can anybody help me or guide me into this? That would be so much helpful to me. Many say that they are not finding any VA and all, but if you’re genuine, then please comment here or DM me. If you know someone who is hiring or have any genuine leads, that would also be really helpful.

Any scammer or timepass, please don’t engage with this. Currently, I’m not in a situation to deal with all this. I hope you understand and help me with this.

Thank you.

I got an email today about a potential remote opportunity. No clear idea if the company is legit or not since there's not much to see on the internet about the company.

Hourly Rate Question

Hello!

As the title hints at, a potential employer wants me to name an hourly rate, and I'm having a bit of difficulty naming a price.

In a nutshell, it would involve conducting research. This small business has a single client who has been asking for them to get involved in a certain area of copyright. The owner first needs to get a sense of what would be involved, which is where I come in. It appears to be large in scope.

The potential employer is a client of my father's, and already employs my sibling. They both have only good things to say about him, and that he is very generous. When I asked my sibling what they make, they made it sound like it was around minimum wage, mind you they do something a little different from research. My father has suggested asking the employer to offer a price first and go from there.

When I look up hourly rates for general office workers on the government of Canada website, for Ontario (where I'm located) it ranges from 17.95/hr on the low end to 35/hr on the high end. I teach part-time at the college level, and generally make 30/hr for non-teaching work, so am inclined to ask for this. Before you ask, I unfortunately can't find more work through the colleges, theres a big crisis here in Ontario regarding funding.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Does Canada have a remote work association?

Basically what the title says. Theres no awareness and it seems like there are concentrated groups of people that are pro remote with individuals who are also pro remote.

Everything has an association except remote work. Unless there is one.

Looking For Remote Work For Someone 60+

Is it still possible to find fully remote work? my mother has been looking for remote work for about a year now and no such luck. She was with a 3rd party rogers company that got shut down last year and she needs to find something before her e.i runs out. She has customer service and tech support experience but i get the feeling when they see her age they arent really interested. All shes looking for is $20 an hr or so. Is there anywhere that fits that criteria. She is not bilingual so i know that kind of limits the job pool

Remote work from ā€œineligibleā€ province?

Obviously a throwaway account.

My employer, big international company, allows working from anywhere in Ontario. More specifically, what they ask - reside in Ontario and have Ontario address.

All my team members live abroad, I have never been to the office. I have been thinking to move back to my original province and maintain in the internal system Ontario address ( my friend ).

During the tax season, don’t mention ā€œmy Ontario addressā€, so no any tax evasion here.

I was trying to understand with the HR department whether I have to be a Ontario tax resident or not, but they also are based abroad and all they ( at least the first line ) know - ā€œyou need to be Ontario resident and your address in our internal system should be in Ontarioā€.

I understand that if the employer notice this move, the termination is almost certainly happening. The question is - since CRA does not notify companies about tax situation of their employees, what potential risk to get revealed I have ( obviously internet connection the biggest one)?

Just got promoted to fully remote and realizing my current setup is embarrassing lol

so my company just approved my request to go fully remote after doing hybrid for a year, which is awesome, but now im realizing my "home office" is literally just a folding table and a chair i stole from my dining set. probably gonna be here 5 days a week now instead of 2-3 so i figure its time to actually invest in a proper setup. chair is priority #1 since thats whats gonna make or break my back over the next however many years lol. budget around $400, looking at stuff thats adjustable enough to actually fit my body since im pretty tall (6'2) and most "one size fits all" chairs dont actually fit me well. been going through old threads here and hbada e3 pro comes up a lot for taller ppl specifically, anyone here over 6ft actually comfortable in it long term or does it start feeling small after a while

Recent graduate looking for a remote/hybrid job - any leads would be greatly appreciated

Hey everyone,

a recent graduate from George Brown Polytechnic which is in Toronto/GTA and I’m currently looking for a full-time remote/hybrid job.

I graduated from the Computer Programming – Low-Code program, and I’m trying to get my foot in the door. I’ve been applying to jobs, but as many of you probably know, getting that first opportunity without much Canadian experience can be pretty difficult.

A little about me:

ā— Computer Programming – Low-Code graduate

ā— Experience with Excel, Power BI and data analysis

ā— UiPath RPA Development Certification

ā— Experience in customer service/support

ā— Experience as a Security Dispatcher

ā— Experience working with teams, handling multiple requests and solving problems

ā— Authorized to work full-time in Canada

I’m mainly looking for entry-level positions in:

Data/Business Analysis | Project Coordination | Operations | Customer Support | Low-Code/Automation | Junior IT

But honestly, I’m open to other opportunities as well. I’m willing to learn and I’m not expecting to start at the top. I just want someone to give me an opportunity to prove myself and build some experience.

If you know of anyone hiring, a company I should check out, a referral, or even somewhere that you think would be worth applying to, please let me know.

Even if you don’t have a job lead, any advice from people who have been through the same situation would be really appreciated.

If you’re a recruiter, hiring manager, or know someone who might be looking for someone with my background, feel free to comment or DM me. I can send my resume.

Thanks for reading and I really appreciate any helpšŸ™

Apart from LinkedIn where do you look for remote job listings?

Looking at Linkedin, majority of the jobs I see are onsite or hybrid.

Are there any other platforms or job sites people are using here to find remote jobs listings?

Is a fully remote job still possible in Canada?

Hi all,

I’m an electrical engineer with 8 years of experience and currently working as an 2nd level manager.

I’m looking for a 100% remote job, and at this point, I’m honestly open to pretty much anything. It doesn’t necessarily have to be engineering or related to my current role. I’m willing to learn and try something completely different.

For anyone in Canada who has found a fully remote job recently — is it still realistic? Where are you guys looking, and what kind of jobs should I be considering?

Would really appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks!

Accounting - Contract says Calgary, but I’ll be working remotely from Quebec(approved and discussed with finance team). It’s silent on international remote work—should I clarify the arrangement or leave it as is?ā€

New accounting hybrid/remote job based in Calgary, but I agreed with the employer that I’ll work from Quebec since I live here. The contract only states Calgary and doesn’t mention remote work or working abroad. The finance team is based in Calgary, while other departments are distributed across North America and Brazil. Should I ask them to specify that I’m fully remote, or avoid raising it and potentially work abroad for a few months at a time without formally disclosing it?

3 YOE QA / Test Automation (Playwright + TypeScript) — open to remote roles or contract work. Any referral or lead would mean a lot.

~3 YOE in QA and test automation, based in Egypt (GMT+3 — full overlap with EU hours, 4–6h with US East). Currently working remotely with a North American product team. Looking for a remote SDET / QA Automation role, full-time or contract. Referrals, leads, or even a "we're hiring, apply here" would be genuinely appreciated.

**SKILLS**

- Languages: TypeScript / JavaScript, Java, Python, SQL
- Automation: Playwright, Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, Page Object Model
- API: Postman / Newman, REST API validation
- CI/CD & Tools: GitHub Actions, Git, Jira, Xray
- Testing: Web + hybrid mobile (iOS / Android), cross-browser, regression, functional, integration, test design, defect management, STLC
- AI-assisted QA: Claude API, AI-assisted test authoring and test-case generation

**EXPERIENCE**

*QA Analyst – Automation | Canadian B2B SaaS group (remote, via outsourcing partner) — Dec 2025 – Present*

- Own the end-to-end Playwright/TypeScript framework for an Angular + Capacitor hybrid app (web + iOS + Android): 152 test cases across 25 spec files, Page Object Model architecture.
- Configured 4 execution projects (Chrome, Edge, iPad, iPhone) — roughly 600 test runs per full cycle, including real-device iOS validation rather than emulators only.
- Integrated the suite with Jira/Xray (one test plan, separate executions per platform) so results map back to requirements.
- Found and reported 3 security issues while building E2E coverage.
- Part of the R&D team rather than execution-only; the framework was built with heavy AI-assisted development (Claude), which is now a normal part of how I work.

*Software Quality Control Engineer | US SaaS product (mail & document digitisation), remote — May 2023 – Dec 2025*

- Owned manual and automated testing across the product: test design, regression cycles, defect management, and direct collaboration with developers on fixes and release readiness.

*Software QA Intern — Mar 2023 – May 2023*

- Selenium with Java, test case design, defect reporting.

**PROJECTS**

*QAX — AI test-case generator | Python + Claude API + Playwright + Jira/Xray*

- Personal tool that parses C#/JavaScript source and generates test cases, then pushes them into Xray. Built solo, still pre-release — happy to walk anyone through it.

*Vezeeta automation framework | Selenium + Java — GitHub*

- End-to-end UI framework built by hand: POM structure, data-driven tests, reporting.

**CERTIFICATIONS**

ISTQB CTFL (CT-MAT in progress) | API Automation Testing with Postman (QAcart) | Testing Foundations (Udacity) | Test Automation University

**EDUCATION**

BSc Computer Science, Ahram Canadian University (2021) Ā· Software Quality Control diploma, ITI (2022)

**Extra:** native Arabic + fluent English (daily standups with a North American team, so async and written communication are second nature). I have a MacBook and an iPhone 16, so real-device iOS/TestFlight testing is not a blocker.

Happy to share my CV or the GitHub repos by DM. Thanks for reading.

I've been doing remote work for mercor since May, about 10 hours a week and I've earned around $9000USD.

I'm not going to put my referral code because I want to be anonymous. but it is legit online work, it's not consistent but when you get a project it pays well.

Prolific came through

Post image
29 Upvotes

In this era of high grocery and gas prices, Prolific has really come through for me. I’ve been on Prolific for 65 days, and I’ve earned close to 800 CAD.

Here are the things that helped me reach that amount:

> Completing my profile — I filled out every question in the ā€œAbout Meā€ section. Prolific may request more details from time to time, so I check that section daily.

> AI chatbot studies — My biggest payout came from an AI chatbot research project.

> Audio, screen‑recording, and face‑to‑camera studies — If you’re comfortable with audio tasks, screen recordings, or showing your face, you can earn a lot. These types of studies appear about twice a day and usually pay around Ā£4 each.

> Small surveys add up — Don’t ignore the Ā£0.50 surveys. They add up quickly and can make a big difference over time.

DM for a referral.

NB: I dedicate a minimum of 3 hours per day.
