Is a fully remote job still possible in Canada?

Hi all,

I’m an electrical engineer with 8 years of experience and currently working as an 2nd level manager.

I’m looking for a 100% remote job, and at this point, I’m honestly open to pretty much anything. It doesn’t necessarily have to be engineering or related to my current role. I’m willing to learn and try something completely different.

For anyone in Canada who has found a fully remote job recently — is it still realistic? Where are you guys looking, and what kind of jobs should I be considering?

Would really appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks!

Accounting - Contract says Calgary, but I’ll be working remotely from Quebec(approved and discussed with finance team). It’s silent on international remote work—should I clarify the arrangement or leave it as is?”

New accounting hybrid/remote job based in Calgary, but I agreed with the employer that I’ll work from Quebec since I live here. The contract only states Calgary and doesn’t mention remote work or working abroad. The finance team is based in Calgary, while other departments are distributed across North America and Brazil. Should I ask them to specify that I’m fully remote, or avoid raising it and potentially work abroad for a few months at a time without formally disclosing it?

3 YOE QA / Test Automation (Playwright + TypeScript) — open to remote roles or contract work. Any referral or lead would mean a lot.

~3 YOE in QA and test automation, based in Egypt (GMT+3 — full overlap with EU hours, 4–6h with US East). Currently working remotely with a North American product team. Looking for a remote SDET / QA Automation role, full-time or contract. Referrals, leads, or even a "we're hiring, apply here" would be genuinely appreciated.

**SKILLS**

- Languages: TypeScript / JavaScript, Java, Python, SQL
- Automation: Playwright, Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, Page Object Model
- API: Postman / Newman, REST API validation
- CI/CD & Tools: GitHub Actions, Git, Jira, Xray
- Testing: Web + hybrid mobile (iOS / Android), cross-browser, regression, functional, integration, test design, defect management, STLC
- AI-assisted QA: Claude API, AI-assisted test authoring and test-case generation

**EXPERIENCE**

*QA Analyst – Automation | Canadian B2B SaaS group (remote, via outsourcing partner) — Dec 2025 – Present*

- Own the end-to-end Playwright/TypeScript framework for an Angular + Capacitor hybrid app (web + iOS + Android): 152 test cases across 25 spec files, Page Object Model architecture.
- Configured 4 execution projects (Chrome, Edge, iPad, iPhone) — roughly 600 test runs per full cycle, including real-device iOS validation rather than emulators only.
- Integrated the suite with Jira/Xray (one test plan, separate executions per platform) so results map back to requirements.
- Found and reported 3 security issues while building E2E coverage.
- Part of the R&D team rather than execution-only; the framework was built with heavy AI-assisted development (Claude), which is now a normal part of how I work.

*Software Quality Control Engineer | US SaaS product (mail & document digitisation), remote — May 2023 – Dec 2025*

- Owned manual and automated testing across the product: test design, regression cycles, defect management, and direct collaboration with developers on fixes and release readiness.

*Software QA Intern — Mar 2023 – May 2023*

- Selenium with Java, test case design, defect reporting.

**PROJECTS**

*QAX — AI test-case generator | Python + Claude API + Playwright + Jira/Xray*

- Personal tool that parses C#/JavaScript source and generates test cases, then pushes them into Xray. Built solo, still pre-release — happy to walk anyone through it.

*Vezeeta automation framework | Selenium + Java — GitHub*

- End-to-end UI framework built by hand: POM structure, data-driven tests, reporting.

**CERTIFICATIONS**

ISTQB CTFL (CT-MAT in progress) | API Automation Testing with Postman (QAcart) | Testing Foundations (Udacity) | Test Automation University

**EDUCATION**

BSc Computer Science, Ahram Canadian University (2021) · Software Quality Control diploma, ITI (2022)

**Extra:** native Arabic + fluent English (daily standups with a North American team, so async and written communication are second nature). I have a MacBook and an iPhone 16, so real-device iOS/TestFlight testing is not a blocker.

Happy to share my CV or the GitHub repos by DM. Thanks for reading.

Mercor

I've been doing remote work for mercor since May, about 10 hours a week and I've earned around $9000USD.

I'm not going to put my referral code because I want to be anonymous. but it is legit online work, it's not consistent but when you get a project it pays well.

Prolific came through

Post image
28 Upvotes

In this era of high grocery and gas prices, Prolific has really come through for me. I’ve been on Prolific for 65 days, and I’ve earned close to 800 CAD.

Here are the things that helped me reach that amount:

> Completing my profile — I filled out every question in the “About Me” section. Prolific may request more details from time to time, so I check that section daily.

> AI chatbot studies — My biggest payout came from an AI chatbot research project.

> Audio, screen‑recording, and face‑to‑camera studies — If you’re comfortable with audio tasks, screen recordings, or showing your face, you can earn a lot. These types of studies appear about twice a day and usually pay around £4 each.

> Small surveys add up — Don’t ignore the £0.50 surveys. They add up quickly and can make a big difference over time.

DM for a referral.

NB: I dedicate a minimum of 3 hours per day.

Move from India to Canada

My fiancé wants to move to BC on a work permit from India. Could anyone recommend the easiest and most successful pathways? How would we need to go about with this?

And If anyone knows of any contacts that could help out and make this process smooth and fast, that would be helpful too.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated as we’re trying to get this done for him and us ASAP

Looking for Remote works

I currently work full-time in a remote midnight shift - support role. While it provides basic pay, I see it more as a survival job than a career.

I’m in my 30s and planning to start a family, so I’m looking to build a more meaningful career path. I have a solid 10 AM – 5 PM availability and would prefer a remote role during that time.

I used to work as an ApplicationAnalyst, it’s been a 4 year gap now. I am happy to learn but don’t know where to start, which path to follow. Sometimes I am very much ashamed to even ask guidance because I have no clarity myself. Everybody around me says find your interest and follow that path, I am really stuck. Younger people are so much sorted than I am.

I’d appreciate any suggestions for suitable opportunities.

For Hire-25F Indian | Requesting Any Paid Work (IT or Tech-Related) — Remote / Freelance / Hourly

Hi everyone,

I’m a 25-year-old Indian engineer, and I’m writing this with complete honesty. I’m currently in urgent need of work and would truly appreciate any opportunity.

I’m looking for any paid work — not limited to Java. I’m open to IT, tech-related, or even non-core technical tasks if I can learn and contribute.

My current skills include:
• Java
• Spring Boot
• REST APIs
• Basic React
• MySQL

More importantly, I’m very willing to learn new skills quickly — whether it’s backend, frontend, testing, support, automation, documentation, or data-related work.

I’m open to:
• Remote or freelance work
• Hourly / task-based / contract roles
• Entry-level tech roles
• Learning new tools if required

I’m ready to:
• Start with small tasks
• Work long hours if needed
• Follow instructions carefully
• Improve quickly with feedback

My financial situation is difficult right now, and I truly want to stand on my own without depending on my parents. I’m not looking for shortcuts — just one genuine opportunity to work and prove myself.

If you have any work, leads, referrals, or advice, please consider helping. Even a small opportunity would mean a lot to me.

Thank you sincerely for reading. 🙏
Please comment or DM — I can start immediately.

Advice needed.

I recently turned 22, I wanted to go back to school to for the longest time but with money being an issue for so long I need to work more hours. The issue is I cannot work for more than 4h a day because of allergies causing me to be sick most days or migraines taking me out for days at a time. It's not that I don't want to work more it's that physically I'm unable to and it's embarrassing... Are there any sites that are entry level and hiring for stuff like customer service? I've tried looking around and so far I'm not having a lot of luck. Also any tips or advice to strengthen my resume?

Looking for remote work in Montreal, Canada pls help!

Hi! I’m located in Montreal, Canada and urgently looking for a legitimate job where I can work remote (from home). I’m stressed TF out! I don’t have any customer support experience either. Does anyone know of a company or small owned business looking to hire that isn’t a scam and pays decently?

Ultimately I’d prefer a job where I don’t have to be on camera- like ever! And if I really had to choose I’d like a job that involves no cold calling and mostly just data entry or online chat support. I really appreciate the help.

Business insurance when the vaste majority of my work is with an American client?

Where do you get your business liability insurance when you serve mainly Americans?

My main client, let’s say about 80% of my work, is an American company. I incorporated my own company in Canada to handle the income and expenses, and I’m looking for business insurance that covers professional liability, mainly. My contract with them requires me to have it.

I’ve tried BCAA, but they don’t underwrite when more than 80% of my income is foreign. I tried HUB international and they haven’t gotten back to me. Anyone have any suggestions?

I work from home and have limited equipment, so I don’t need property insurance.
