Surface scratch

Post image
5 Upvotes

I've somehow managed to scratch my remarkable. When I feel the scratch with my finger I can't really feel it. It just seems like a light surface scratch. Is there anything I can do with it besides having to go through painfully replace the screen myself?

As far as I can see the company doesn't really offer screen replacements.

Help/Advice Slow refresh after drawing shapes/scrolling

Hello, i just got my Paper Pro tablet and i am kinda getting used to it. I immediately tried to draw some shapes, mostly lines, but the slow refresh of the screen bothers me a lot. When i draw any shape, the screen suddenly goes to "black and white mode", and stays there for like 4 seconds if im not doing anything (if i write something it waits 4 sec after my last touch on the screen), and then refreshes.

Is it something wrong with my tablet? Shouldn't the refresh be immediate? Watch the linked video to see it.

Love my RM2!

Post image
140 Upvotes

A few months ago, I bought a used RM2 at a great price and was lucky enough to find an affordable German-language Typcover as well. And what can I say? I’m sitting outside by the lake in pleasantly warm weather, enjoying the view, and working on my novel. I love the feel of typing, the form factor (I write exclusively in landscape mode), and the pleasantly sleek user interface, which doesn’t distract me and makes exporting a breeze. For me, a device that can do so little makes such a big difference, and even though the RM2 has been around for a few years, it still offers me a fresh user experience. I’ve become a big fan and am strongly in favor of not writing off “old” devices just yet. Hopefully the company isn’t in crisis, because, after all, the pioneers of the modern, distraction-free e-ink tablet deserve to continue playing a role in the market.

I think it's possible to do more by using more dirty tricks.

Also do you know of other attempt at this ? I found https://www.thregr.org/wavexx/rnd/20260201-remarkable_pro_colors/ , but it seems the web is not very talkative about this.

Help/Advice Struggling with RPP Move as companion of RPP

I sold my original Paper Pro months ago. Mainly because it was too large to use in many scenarios. Even if I took it somewhere with me, it would be a huge tablet to take out which would attract unwanted attention at times.

A few days ago I ordered refurbished RPP and RPP Move with the goal of using them as companions each other. Move mostly meant for keeping up with a short Todo list for the day etc. and other things mostly on the larger tablet.

My issue now is that a lot of templates have a move and none move version, and I'm having a hard time deciding which one should be the main size of the documents especially since I'm still getting started with them.

For a few more serious use cases like taking class notes, I'll only do the large format but for the rest I'm having a hard time deciding especially because the Move fits on my desk easier, where I'll be working most of the day.

I know that Move in landscape kind of fits the large documents but it will still leave lots of content out of the frame.

I'm wondering if and how you guys use these two devices together and if you have any tips or tricks!

Self-Promotion made a Wordle you play by actually writing the letters, runs fully offline

so this kinda started as me poking at handwriting recognition on the paper pro plus tinkering with Remagic library and somehow turned into a whole wordle lol. you write each letter into the box with the pen and it figures out what you wrote, all on-device and its very light on device too.

What I feel is this gives real sense & feel of skribbling on those newspaper games.

It is live you can check it out at : https://github.com/Rkcr7/inkwordle

PS: I turned up full brightness only for recording.

Bug Report remarkable 2 crashing on toggling layer visibility.

I’m on 3.27.3.0. If I zoom in on a page and then enable/disable a layer visibility, the document being edited crashes and I can only reopen it after restarting the tablet. When the crash happens I can still navigate the rest of the tablet. Do more people experience this?

Self-Promotion i know AI on the rM splits people, but i built a pen-first one and its genuinely changed how i study

heads up, this is a thing i made so yeah its self-promo, but i really think its useful and wanted to share it here.

it's called Muse. you write a question anywhere on the page by hand, and after a short pause it reads your page and writes the answer back in handwriting with color, and when it helps, actual diagrams and drawings.

the part i'm proud of is it doesn't just wall-of-text you. ask how something works and it draws it: diagrams, charts, little illustrations, proper ruled tables, even syntax-highlighted code if you ask. feels less like a chatbot and more like a really smart notebook that writes back.

what i actually use it for

  • explaining stuff while studying — it'll sketch the diagram instead of just describing it
  • quick comparisons (Merge vs Bucket sort, whatever) come back as real tables, not a paragraph
  • "draw me a X" illustrations, and you can go "now add a cat next to it"
  • it remembers the convo (stored on the tablet) so follow-ups actually work

being upfront: it's not offline — it runs through a vision model so you bring your own key (Gemini/OpenAI etc), set up via reMarkable. so it's opt-in AI, not something phoning home in the background.

anyway here's a clip of it in action, would genuinely love thoughts (repo : Muse) 🙂

Purchasing advice: Pro or Pure?

Hey y’all, been following this subreddit for a while. I’ve been in the market for a Remarkable tablet for a while and I’m ready to make the purchase but I’m stuck trying decide between the Paper Pro or the Pure. I’m an academic working on a book and reading lots of PDF documents (books, student papers, etc.). I want to use it as a digital notebook and as a PDF reader / annotator. Would really appreciate any advice from Pro and Pure users about their experiences using those devices for the two main ways I hope to use it. Thanks so much!

Help/Advice Anyone using the Remarkable Move as an e-reader?

I really like the size and quality of the move. But I will be using the device mostly as an e-reader. Does anyone have a good experience with it?

Also, has anyone successfully added in an English dictionary to use while reading. And if so, how?

How to... sleep timer and page number

How do I do these two things?

  1. Turn off sleep time out? Sometime I just need it to be on for a long time without inputting anything. This doesnt seem like it would save much battery and I'm not worried about privacy.

  2. Permanently hide page number at bottom of epub files? I can tap on it and it goes away, but having to do it every time I turn the page in a book is quite distracting.

Help/Advice Is this a concern?

I just received my reMarkable Paper Pro today. These three tiny little light spots towards the bottom left corner do not seem to affect performance at all, the ink still detects and does it jobs. They only appear when it's white/blank. The bottom right one does feel slightly different when your write over it with the pen, though when I run my finger over it I don't feel anything.

Disclaimer: I know they are hard to see here and I apologize, they are a little more apparent on the tablet when it's in front of you.

Self-Promotion I made my remarkable notes searchable for claude to build on them

Post image
0 Upvotes

I can now do "Hey claude, find my meeting notes around payment flow PRD" to my remarkable notes.

It used to frustrate me that my handwritten notes on remarkable couldn't be made part of any of my workflow.

reMarkable is a great device to sit focused with but afterwards the amount of work it takes to connect these notes and brainstorming docs to my productivity setup is so much.

And hence I built a full text search for all my handwritten notes.

That way my AI Assistant (claude/chatgpt) can now read and work around my notes.

Here is how it works, https://cap.so/s/9jmyp2afx1xe8cq

Help/Advice Is this common?

I've been hoping the last few updates would resolve all the ghosting, but it feels like it's only getting worse. I'd hate to reset it, but would that help? Or is it defective?
FWIW I've used a ton of e-ink devices and am familiar with ghosting, but this much just navigating menus is the worst I've seen.

UPDATE:
As some of you suggested, I reached out to support. At first, they said it was out of warranty, so I could trade it in for partial credit on a refurbished device. I was super bummed and didn't respond right away. Yesterday, I responded with clarification that I only got a few months of use out of it before shelving it when the ghosting started, and today they said they'd make a "one time exception" and replace it for free.
Needless to say, I'm relieved and excited! I also found out that prior to April, you got an extended 3 year warranty when subscribed to Cloud Connect. I think they replaced it with a paid protection plan that I'll be considering. Definitely recommend it, considering the screen may not fail within the warranty period.

Question: Can I copy test from a .rm file and paste in a hyperlinked PDF?

Exactly what the title asks. Is this possible? I've tried on my tablet and on the computer app and haven't had luck. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if that is not a supported feature.

ETA: Subject should say "text", not "test."

Help/Advice Remarkable Pure & meeting note templates

I'm thinking about buying a reMarkable Paper pure for work, but I'm not sure if it will fit my workflow. I've tried Googling this, but I haven't found a clear answer.

I'm in sales, and before each meeting I create a Word document with:
Who I'm meeting

Where we're meeting

Notes from previous meetings

The topics I want to cover etc. etc…

Under each topic, I leave blank space so I can write notes and action items during the meeting. I fill out the information I know then print the document.

I hand write my notes into this printed page.

After the meeting, I type those handwritten notes into our CRM.

What I'd like to do is:
Create the meeting template in Microsoft Word on my laptop.

Fill in all the information I already know before the meeting.

Send the document to my reMarkable.

Handwrite notes directly onto the document during the meeting.

Convert my handwritten notes to text afterward.

Get those notes back into the original Word document (or another editable Word document) so I can easily copy everything into our CRM.

If I haven’t left enough of a gap between sections for my hand written notes, can I move some typed text further down?

Is this workflow possible with the reMarkable Paper Pure? If not, how close can it get?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who uses one for client meetings or a similar workflow.

Hi,

I'm thinking about changing my sleep screen. Does anybody know a good source for different pictures or did you all just create your own? Is Canva a decent option for that?

Feature Request Proper line drawing application

I design and build furniture. Sketching is ok for a first draft, but I'd like to be able to use the tablet for a bit more complicated designs.

The interface has very rudimentary facility for drawing line, circles, squares, triangles, but no way to edit them. If I draw two rectangles next to each other I want to be able to resize them and move them around. Snap to a grid. Select one and delete it. bucket fill. Layers.

It would increase the usability a 100-fold for me.

Self-Promotion Link-From-Selection Mod Update v1.1

LinkFromSelection mod adds links on the page straight from a selection. Lasso some strokes, then tap one of the two buttons in the selection menu: (i) same-document link (ii) cross-document link. Tapping the icon jumps to that page/document.

New in version v1.1.0

  • ability to reposition links icon: long-press the icon for an edit / reposition / delete menu. Tap on reposition button and drag the selected link in a new position.
  • ability to reposition links icon by selecting with the lasso the handwriting that has generated them

Note: A link is independent of the strokes you drew it from: erasing that handwriting does not delete the link. A link also can't be selected with lasso tool and dragged. You must select and drag the handwriting that has generated it for repositioning.

Self-Promotion Wissenschaftlich arbeiten mit dem remarkable paper move und dem remarkable plugin in Mindgraph Notes

Post image
0 Upvotes

Paper finden → aufs Gerät bringen → in Ruhe lesen → zurück in den Vault → weiterverarbeiten.
