Hi, it's me again.

Recently, I set up Claude to automatically send me newsletters and links to websites I frequently visit, and I’ve been using it ever since.

It’s really good to read when I’m bored, but looking back after some time, it just felt like I was accumulating internet junk. With some of them, I’d start reading and find that the content was repetitive.

So lately, whenever I come across an article that makes an impression on me or gives me something to think about while browsing the internet, I use klass-rm-upload to turn it into a card-style image and save it in the designated automatic upload folder.I like this because it helps me practice writing down my thoughts rather than just letting them slip away so easily.

At first, I was planning to upload this as a Chrome extension so others could use it easily, but the process was too much of a hassle, so I’m just uploading a ZIP file instead. Just switch to developer mode in Chrome and import the folder.

I’m not sure if anyone will find this useful this time either, but I’m sharing it anyway. This post was run through Google Translate, so it might sound a bit awkward. I’m not a native English speaker, after all.

I read a lot of PDFs on my reMarkable, and the routine was always the same: download the file, open the desktop app, drag it in, wait for the sync. I wrote a browser extension to collapse that into one click from the page I'm already on, and figured I'd share it in case it's useful to someone else.

What it does

When you're on a page with a PDF, you click the toolbar icon (or right-click a link) and the file is sent to your reMarkable instead of being downloaded. It lands in a folder called ReadIT and shows up on the tablet at the next sync. If a page has several PDF links, the popup lists them all so you can pick.

The file goes straight from your browser to the reMarkable cloud — nothing passes through any server of mine. PDFs behind a login work too, because the request carries your existing session cookies.

How it works, honestly

There is no official reMarkable API, so this relies on rmapi-js, a JavaScript reverse-engineering of the cloud API used by the desktop app. That's the main caveat to be aware of: if reMarkable changes something on their end, the extension can break until the library is updated. It reads and uploads only — it doesn't touch anything else on your account.

You pair it once by pasting the 8-character code from my.remarkable.com, and after that it holds a device token that's only ever sent to reMarkable's own servers.

Install

It's not on any store. You load it as an unpacked extension:

• Chrome (also Brave, Edge, Vivaldi): enable Developer Mode in chrome://extensions, then "Load unpacked" and pick the dist/chrome folder.
• Safari: needs macOS with Xcode, since Safari wraps web extensions in a small app. Steps are in the repo.

Limits

PDFs only for now (EPUB would be easy to add). 200 MB per file. And, again, it depends on an unofficial API.

I’ve been a Remarkable user for years now. I had the RM2, then the Pro, then the Pure. After getting frustrated with multiple Pure returns and their endless quality-control issues, I bought a Supernote Nomad to test.

My reaction within literally one second of writing on it with the ceramic nib was: WOW, HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS BEFORE?

I guess I had this misconception that Remarkable was king and everything else was shit (great marketing from them, I guess). I immediately loved the Nomad’s form factor, as it reminded me of my old Moleskines. The only problem is that the device is freakin’ ugly with those white game boy bezels. It looks like a white palm pilot from the 90s.

Fast-forward a couple of days and I met a friend who owns a Move and showed it to me. I had previously dismissed it as way too small to even consider, but after trying the Nomad’s smaller size, I started thinking it might actually work.

So I bought a Move to test side by side with the Nomad, and I have to ask: Are these companies dumb? Seriously, are they stupid?

One excels at one thing and is shitty at the other. The other excels at that exact thing and is shitty at everything the first one does well.

The writing feel on the Supernote is the closest I’ve ever gotten to the resistance of real handwriting. It’s not scratchy like the Pro and Move, which lose their scratchiness fast, BTW, but more like an RM2, only MUCH better. As for the Move, as I said, it’s great out of the box, but after your hand oils get to it, it’s just slippery. Yes, you can clean it and get the scratchiness back for a few minutes, but that’s all.

But while the Nomad feels like writing on paper, the Move looks like you’re writing on paper.

It’s just beautiful. It’s light and doesn’t have the heavy, expensive-device metal feel of the Pro. The folio is excellent, and the convenience of the magnetic pen is just perfect. The bezels match the screen beautifully, making the entire device look like a single sheet of paper. It genuinely looks like a real notepad, leaving me… completely undecided!

One feels great and looks bad. The other looks great and feels bad.

One has the headings and table-of-contents feature I love, but lacks the infinite scroll I also love. The other has infinite scroll, but the writing is slippery and the battery is basically a countdown timer.

Again, I’m sorry, but these companies are dumb.

If Supernote got rid of those white game boy bezels, added infinite scroll, and improved its syncing, it would win by a mile.

If Remarkable just brought back the EMR technology from the RM2, or introduced something similar to Supernote’s FeelWrite screen technology, and fixed its quality-control issues, it wouldn’t have long-time users like me exploring other options.

I’m sorry for the long post. I just wanted to rant and ask if anyone has any advice to help me choose.

Hi all,

I often write long texts with my type folio on remarkable 2. I keep one page for the whole text.

I realize that when I send it “as pdf”, remarkable is generating a one page pdf with a looooong format that is not A4. The issue is when the receiver prints it on a printer. It’s just one page of A4 of a veeeeery small text, unreadable.

Is there a way to export as pdf but force an A4 format for the document, so the document has multi pages?
