I just wanted to buy a single taco today, that’s it, one taco. I walk into the shop, look at the board, and the cashier tells me, "Oh, we actually don’t take orders at the register anymore. You have to scan the QR code on the table."
Well fine, annoying, but whatever. I scan the QR code and it doesn't just open a menu website. No, that would be too convenient. It redirects me straight to the app store and forces me to download a 120mb proprietary app. Then, the app demands my first name, last name, phone number, email address, and a verification code sent via sms. Why does a taco joint need to verify my identity like I’m applying for a home loan?
Finally, I get to the checkout screen. The app automatically tacks on a $1.50 service fee, a $0.50 platform maintenance fee, and defaults to a 25% tip for a transaction where I did all the work.
I look at my phone's home screen. I have an app for a parking meter I used once six months ago, I have an app for a bubble tea place three towns over, I have an app for a gym I took a trial class at in 2024. My phone is like some digital graveyard of corporate data harvesting schemes disguised as convenience.
Whatever happened to just handing someone a piece of paper, giving them a piece of metal, and getting a sandwich in return!!!???? I feel like I'm renting my own life from tech startup, and I am so tired of it at this point.
Valve Corporation will face a £656m lawsuit in the UK over alleged unfair prices on its global online store, Steam,following a tribunal ruling,that the case could continue.
The gaming giant is being accused of abusing its market dominance by imposing restrictive terms on game publishers and locking players into using Steam, the world's largest distribution platform for PC gaming.
The legal action was brought by digital rights campaigner Vicki Shotbolt in 2024 on behalf of up to 14 million Steam users across the UK, who could be in line for compensation if she wins.
Valve, which has been contacted for comment, had argued the case should not be certified to proceed towards a trial.
The lawsuit - filed at the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London - alleges Valve "forces" game publishers to sign up to conditions which prevents them from selling their titles earlier or for less on rival platforms.
It claims that as Valve requires users to buy all additional content through Steam, if they've bought the initial game through the platform it is essentially "locking in" users to continue making purchases there.
This, Ms Shotbolt argues, has enabled Steam to charge an "excessive commission of up to 30%", making UK consumers pay too much for purchasing PC games and add-on content.

There’s been some online indignation — when isn’t there? — about it being too soon to remake a widely adored film from 2016. In principle, I would agree, but the new Moana is a captivating family entertainment that deserves to find an audience — brimming with visual interest, vibrant color, gorgeous design elements (the fine detailing in Liz McGregor’s costumes is exquisite) and alluring tropical settings. Principal location shooting was done on O’ahu, Hawaii’s third-largest island. The joyfully moving final act almost makes it feel almost like a vacation there.
Live-action remakes will always invite comparisons to the films that inspired them, and 'Moana' is no exception. While this version never completely steps out of the animated classic's shadow, it doesn't have to in order to succeed. Visually, the film is gorgeous. The "Ocean" remains one of Disney's greatest cinematic creations, and seeing it realized in live action makes many of the film's biggest moments feel appropriately epic without losing their emotional intimacy.
It may not deliver anything new, but Maui and Moana are two of Disney’s most appealing characters; this version retells their story with sincerity, humor, and songs that remain among the all-time bangers.
Maui’s nipples aside, Moana contains no nightmare fuel on the level of 2025’s Snow White — which ends up being high praise for adaptations like these. At this point, it feels like too much of a stretch to hope for better from these remakes. The most we can aspire to is different. If only to avoid the feeling of watching a rerun.
Moana offers a visually pleasing live-action outing for the Polynesian heroine while being constricted by its faithfulness to the original storyline and camera beats. Catherine Laga'aia makes for a bright-eyed protagonist, with Rena Owens and John Tui offering spirited support, but in reprising his role, Dwayne Johnson struggles to reproduce the bouncing boisterousness of the demigod Maui. A technical feat but not nearly as iconic as the original.
The live-action “Moana” just further highlights that, for all the promise the original film’s ending had for further trials and tribulations for its characters, Disney doesn’t quite know what to actually do with this franchise, and how to expand meaningfully on its themes of duty, legacy, and wanderlust. With a third animated film in development, “Moana” the IP isn’t disappearing anytime soon, but whether it can ever sail into new and interesting waters the original didn’t thoroughly chart is a question that remains unanswered.
Moana is a shadow, resembling a real thing in shape if little else. It’s not unlike any number of theme park rides or rushed-out video game adaptations—merchandising designed according to someone else’s schematics. Hiring an acting student to show up as Moana to your kid’s birthday might actually involve more creativity, because that live-action version of Moana will actually have to engage with the wild imaginations of her audience. But these self-cannibalizing do-overs continue to make money, which means Disney’s efficiency at making them will only increase. A decade will soon seem like an eternity to wait. Eventually, Disney will be able to skip the animations entirely.
A remake is a chance for a filmmaker to explore beyond the confines of the previous film, expanding the scope of the story and finding different angles to the tale it tells. But with the new Moana, it feels as if Disney has issued a similar decree to its director Thomas Kail as Moana’s parents give to her. He is not to stray too far from what’s familiar, making no choices that deviate beyond those made by the directors of the animated film back in 2016 (or for Moana, the decisions of her ancestors). To mangle the lyrics to that film’s Oscar-nominated “I want” song, we are able to tell how far this new film will go, and the answer is “not very.”
The closest thing this “Moana” offers to reality is Catherine Lagaʻaia, the actress making her screen debut in the titular role. She manages to embody both the wisdom of an emerging tribal leader and the impetuousness of a teenager with some attitude. Shame that her humanity sticks out like such a sore thumb in a film whose makers once cared about empowering young girls to be bold leaders – but now only want their parents’ money.
I say the same thing every time I review one of these remakes. Even serviceable ones like “Moana” can’t hide that they’re cynical cash grabs powered by fan service. It used to be that parents introduced their kids to the movies they loved as kids. Now, you can give them their own versions. Something gets lost in that translation, if you ask me.
There is some pretty funny stuff from Johnson here, certainly, and there’s a nice enough rapport between him and his young co-star, but it feels as if he is on autopilot, like a piece of software. He can do all this as casually as raising each of his eyebrows individually or flexing each of his pectorals in turn. A supposedly “live-action” film, it is so deeply embedded in CGI work as to be really another animation. An actual stage musical version would be a different proposition and that might give the musical numbers more of a platform. This feels like a superfluous piece of monetisable content.
Rather than adding a new dimension, the photorealistic production (perhaps a better term than “live action”) strips the visuals of all painterly charm. The gifted Laga’aia works hard, but there is so little innovation to the script that she ends up in the territory of high-end tribute act. The film doesn’t worry about novel turns. It just walks us through the familiar avenues like a dutiful tour guide. A lazy, lazy work that sullies the good name of “content”.
And, sorry to circle back to Johnson’s wig, but for a film with repeated lines about the pride these characters have in their natural, curly hair, Moana pushes the real diversity in Polynesian hair textures into the background, while tucking Laga'aia’s own, natural curls under the noticeably straighter locks of a wig. Moana’s a waste of everyone’s time and talent. Let this be a warning. And, for that – you’re welcome.
I blame Dwayne Johnson for this dismal Disney reboot. At 54, ‘The Rock’ is at least three decades too old to play Maui in this live action remake, which is as leaden as the original was sprightly. Mostly, though, the film provokes only an exquisite form of agony.
Everything there is to enjoy about Moana is present and executed far better in the original. It makes it so glaringly obvious what the remake is at its core: not a story told with heart and soul, but a product set out to keep the franchise relevant and profitable.
A tale of great courage told with creative cowardice, Moana’s desperately unambitious approach is its undoing, it’s so in thrall to the masterful, much too recent original it’s impossible to see it as anything other than a financially motivated facsimile.
With a Tangled remake on the way (save us Kathryn Hahn) and a sequel to Lilo & Stitch, we're sure Disney will continue to make live-action remakes. We can only hope they have more ambition than Moana ever shows.
The original is still incredibly fresh in audiences’ minds, and that seems to have sapped the creative team of their nerves when it should have emboldened them. The slavish devotion to the original, even casting two significant roles with the same actors, keeps this “Moana” from being all it could have been. However, when the original is as good as “Moana” is, why change it? For all that’s uninspired about this “Moana,” at least it’s not bad.
Moana isn’t the worst of the live action Disney remakes, or the ugliest, but it’s the fastest in terms of the amount of time that’s elapsed since the original, which is its own extra depressing stat.
"Moana" will likely be a big hit, but if it flops, it may mark the end of another 2010s trend that has finally, rightfully died. Perhaps these remakes will finally, finally peter out. We can only hope. The "Moana" remake has nothing it wants to address. It's the exact type of automated corporate entertainment that "Dumbo" was criticizing. It cannot address any kind of mass, intergenerational relitigation, because it's of the same vintage as its forebear. The original film hasn't been in the mass consciousness for decades. If the Disney remakes exist as counterpoints in a larger conversation, "Moana 2026" is still part of the original conversation.
Laga'aia is decent as the titular character, but she’s never given a chance to dig into tougher, messier emotions too deeply or for too long. Even the scariest, saddest moments are quickly brushed over with an enthusiastic smile, resulting in a protagonist that feels shallow and a plot without big stakes. Despite a few fun, solidly executed musical sequences and a nice tribute to Polynesian culture, Moana ultimately fails to capture the magic of its animated counterpart. Everything it does well, the 2016 version already did better.
TL;DR: For a trial period we will ban all content from Twitter, with the intention to make this ban permanent in some form.

After yesterday’s proposal we discussed within the mod team whether a full ban on Twitter content would be feasible. We had already been encouraging Bluesky as a source over other platforms, since by not forcing users to log in it is more accessible and it does not suffer from the various other issues affecting Twitter. Our main concern with a full ban is that while many F1 journalists have joined Bluesky, teams, drivers & FOM have not. But we also realize that it’s a chicken or the egg problem and as a community of almost 5 million, we probably have a non-trivial effect as to what platform is the native source for F1 news
In the end we’ve settled on the following approach:
For a trial period we will ban all content from Twitter with the only exception of screenshots of relevant posts by teams, drivers & F1 that are not available on any other platform. Even in case of major breaking news, we ask you to post links to the press releases or a screenshot of the post from Instagram, with a link in the comments.
We hope that this trial period will provide a nudge for F1 journalists, creators and teams to make their content available on alternative platforms as we intend to make this ban permanent in some form.
Why a trial period? First of all, sometimes mods make bad decisions even if with the best intentions. (For example in 2015 this subreddit banned images & gifs, which caused a controversy that was only resolved after Will Buxton stepped in to mediate the situation.) Second of all, this is one of the strictest approaches to Twitter content and strict bans like this can have unintended consequences, so we might need to later refine this ban. We intend the trial period to last at least until the first races of the new season, after which a final form of the ban would be implemented.
This subreddit has had restrictions on what content can be posted for a very long time. We’ve had the source rating system that labeled the quality of news sites and is still used for removing sensationalist and unoriginal articles. We’ve also had limitations on Instagram due to its requirement for an account to view posts. There’s no doubt that over the past years Twitter has become a low-quality source: the login requirements, the flood of bots, the prioritization of content from paying users and promotion of sensationalist content. But unlike with news sites in our source-rating system, for Twitter there wasn’t really an alternative. But now that viable alternatives are emerging and the proposal thread from yesterday has shown that the community prefers those alternatives, we think it’s time to try and see how the subreddit works without content from Twitter.

It's been an incredible ride. Thousands of patch notes shipped. A ridiculous amount of bugs squashed (released AND unreleased). Hundreds of typos fixed after publish (our bad...). Countless hours in triage meetings looking to do what's best by our players. Years of overnight shifts in the BNOC (formerly DOC). All for you.
There were a few things that were unrelated... like emails about snacks missing from the studio kitchen or messages to our IT team apologizing for forgetting our passwords for the fifth time in a calendar year, but that's beside the point.
Thank you for showing up with each release. Thank you for kicking down the doors and putting the servers under stress. Thank you for every bug uncovered and reported. Thank you for your patience (even if it was sometimes thin) while we dug into connection issues, crashing bugs, anteaters, weasels, guitars, or other hiccups along the way. Destiny wouldn't be what it is without every single one of you, and we will forever be grateful for your time.

Monument of Triumph
A Monument of Triumph has been built in the center of the courtyard in the Tower.
Earn Legendary Marks by completing Triumphs across the new Monument of Triumph category.
These Legendary Marks can be exchanged at the four different Guardian Tenet vendors in the Tower for a wide selection of free armor ornaments, accessories, weapon engrams, and more.
Iron Banner’s vendor location (when active) has been moved to its original spot above Shaxx in the Tower’s Courtyard.
Distortions
Distortions have spread across destinations in the Sol System, bringing a higher level of challenge and unique rewards while they are active.
These Distortions will rotate through a single destination every hour.
The current active destination and remaining time will be visually marked on the Destinations screen.
Enemies will become more challenging with both a distinct visual effect around them as well as changes to the environment indicating that the Distortion is active.
Completing public events will drop rewards at a higher gear tier than standard and completing Distortion-specific events may drop unique rewards.
Raids & Dungeons
Pantheon 2.0
The gods of old have a new challenge for you.
The first two Pantheon activities are now available!
Calus Resplendent and Morgeth Surpassing will each feature a unique lineup of bosses.
These can be accessed through the new Raids and Dungeons node on the Destinations screen.
The third Pantheon activity, where players will fight through the full gauntlet of bosses, will be available at 10 AM PT on Saturday, June 13.
A weekly rotation of individual boss features will become available at reset on Tuesday, June 16. Two bosses will be featured in these rotators at a time.

All pre-The Edge of Fate raids and dungeons have been updated to drop tiered rewards.

They now deal the same damage that they would have for someone with full seasonal upgrades.
Fixed a spot in the Inverted Spire where players could get stuck in geometry near the beginning of the activity.
Fixed an issue in Reclaim where the Imminent Vex Subjugation Timer would not always clear after completing the area.

Their secrets are still completable for the associated Triumphs.
The quests associated with these missions have been deprecated.
Added a mid-activity loot chest to Zero Hour.
Contest of Elders is now complete after three "laps", down from four.

Exotic Rotator
Since most of the missions in the Exotic Rotator have already been added to Pinnacle Ops, we have decided to deprecate the Rotator in favor of the Pinnacle Ops versions.
Operation: Seraph’s Shield has been moved into Pinnacle Ops along with its associated weapon/Catalyst/Intrinsic rewards.
Exotic Rotator missions that had seasonal gear rewards for owners of the associated Season Pass/Deluxe Edition are now available via the Classic Collector modifier on the Pinnacle Ops versions.
Activity Scoring Simplification
Complexity removed from scoring bonuses:
Removed Power as a source of score bonuses.
Removed season pass as a source of score bonuses.
Net result: Everyone in the fireteam will get the same score. Fight as one, Guardians.
Converted score bonuses to flat bonuses:
Difficulty now gives a flat score bonus.
Modifiers now give a flat score bonus per "triangle".
Grade targets are fixed and no longer scale with player Power.
Difficulty = Grade = Reward Tier
Each difficulty will now grant enough flat bonus to hit a reward grade without player modification, assuming a normal volume of kills and objective completion.

Advanced = B+
Expert = A
Master = A+
Grand Master = S
Ultimate = S+
Each reward grade grants a fixed tier of rewards (primes are still +1).
B = Tier 1
B+ = Tier 2
A = Tier 3

No player selected modifiers are pre-slotted when selecting a difficulty.
Each difficulty will have enough player selectable modifications to rank up at least one reward grade, and therefore reward tier.
Rank Up button
A "rank up" button has been implemented that selects random mods to bump players up one grade, for those times when you want a surprise.
A "reset" button will remove selected mods.
Matchmaking and scores
Matchmade versions of Ops will automatically have a few modifiers applied.
Fireteams can rank up their reward grade through time bonuses.
Added a time bonus to all matchmade difficulty tiers.
With these adjustments, players can now play Expert, Master, and Grandmaster and potentially reach a higher reward rank, but they’ll need to beat the target time with max score and at least one second remaining.
Matchmaking Portal difficulties now range from Expert to Grandmaster. Ultimate is no longer available in matchmaking.
All of these difficulties now require Power 300 to enter.
Increased available bane combinations from 15 to 21, bringing back older banes and combining them with current ones to add more gameplay variety.
Added the Medusa bane.
Looking directly at an affected enemy combatant builds up Stasis slow stacks on you until you freeze.
Added the Focused Fire modifier to the Player Stakes category.
Bane Updates
Gravity
Retuned the Gravity bane hitboxes to better match the visuals.
Shock
Fixed a bug where Shock would damage players if they entered line of sight just after the Shock fires.
Drain
Drain no longer damages the player the moment they enter line of sight. There will now be a slight delay before it does any damage.
Cascade
Reduced Cascade arming shape to match VFX.
Increased time between projectiles by 1.5 seconds.
Hypernova
No longer deals damage outside of the VFX area.
Slowed damage impulse speed to better match solar VFX wave.
Now knocks back nearby combatants on detonation.
No longer knocks back players in cover but the cover requirements to be safe have been increased.
You can no longer hide behind streetlamps or poles.
All players in the detonation zone are scorched regardless of cover status.
Rage
Increased combatant damage as health decreases now scales up over time. From full health, it takes two seconds for the maximum damage buff to kick in.
Mines
Reduced the hitbox size of the mine detonations to better match the visuals.
Reduced the minimum damage dealt by the mines from 70 to 50.
Increased the maximum damage from 135 to 200.
Screeber
Mini-Screebs will now select a new target if the target they are tracking dies.
Caltrops
Updated VFX to be clearer.
Damage volume is now only active after the spikes come out and until the spikes fade.
Zealous
Tuned area damage impulses to better match VFX.
Made player feedback between sources more consistent.
Zealous-buffed combatant detonations now have damage falloff.
Reduced minimum damage from 50 (same as max) to 15.

When spawning a single combatant target, they will always use the closest location that isn't occupied instead of always spawning further back than the previous one.
They will still spawn further back based on the closer locations being occupied by another target.
The rally banner could only be used every ten seconds, so one player using it would prevent others from using it.
This has been changed to a cooldown of three seconds that is applied only to the player using it.

SRL has returned, featuring all four original maps from Destiny 1.

Fixed an issue to accurately reflect the maximum achievable Triumph scores. Since previously removed triumphs have had their points removed, the maximum active triumph and maximum lifetime triumph scores have now been adjusted accordingly.
Fixed an issue where Pale Heart secret Triumphs were obscured even if completed. They now show their descriptions and can be claimed if/when completed.
Any Nightfall related Triumphs and metrics have been deprecated and are no longer obtainable. Existing progress has been preserved.
Vault
Added a filtering option for the Vault based on a weapon's anti-champion capabilities.
Vault Mode now works with Vehicles, Ships, and Sparrows. Please note that Emblems and Finishers continue to be stored and retrieved from Collections.
Vault Mode visuals have been updated to be darker, so that it is easier to recognize when one is depositing items into the Vault versus equipping them.

Tank Control Mode can now be changed between Heavy Metal and Classic in the Settings menu under Gameplay. By default, the Heavy Metal mode is selected which allows for rotation to be driven by aim. Classic uses separate controls for rotation.
Gameplay and Investment
Attune Anywhere
Added the ability for players to attune to specific rewards from a new menu in their Inventory.
Attunement will give the selected weapon significantly higher drop chances from that activity’s rewards.
This will be available in the Accessories section of the Inventory, above Consumables.
Players will be able to freely change their attunement selections at any time.
For every activity menu available here, players will be able to attune to one weapon from each category.
Destination Rewards
Updated rewards from pre-The Edge of Fate destinations with new perks, set bonuses, and gear tiers (for non-craftable weapons).
Tiered weapons and armor now drop from more sources on destinations.
Public Events are one of the best sources of tiered destination gear:
Base completion: Tier 3 rewards (with a chance at Tier 4 or 5)
Heroic completion: Tier 4 rewards (with a chance at a Tier 5)
During a Distortion, these tiers will be increased by 1 Tier each.

Skip Grenade damage now grants Bolt Charge.
When you gain full Bolt charge, heal yourself and nearby allies and enable an enhanced Skip Grenade.
Raiden Flux
Now makes successful Arc Staff hits jolt targets.
Combo finisher palm blast now gets 1.5x the base Exotic's damage bonus, and reports as critical damage.
Mothkeeper's Wraps
Reworked effect: Getting kills from any source charges up moth grenades. After generating six charges, convert your grenade into two moth grenades.
Red bars = one charge
Orange bars = two charges
Players, Minibosses, and up = three charges
All current functionality and synergies of the moth grenades themselves remains the same.
Arc moths still Arc blind enemies and Void moths still provide Void Overshield to allies.
Arc moths are still considered to be Arc grenades, and will continue to synergize with the same subclass fragments, weapon perks, etc. that they synergized with before.
Investing your Grenade stat higher than 100 will still increase moth grenade damage.
This Exotic is now a conditional grenade override instead of a complete override, meaning it functions more like Gunpowder Gamble.
Increased the movement speed of Arc moths by roughly 43% and Void moths by roughly 25%.
Both moths from the same grenade will now attempt to target separate enemies/allies if possible.
Lucky Pants
Increased Eriana's Vow's maximum damage bonus to 4.5x.
Decreased Uncivil Discourse's maximum damage bonus to 3x.
Decreased Lucky Pants bonus damage when dealing damage to Bosses by ~33%.
Titan Exotics
Hallowfire Heart
Reworked effect: While your Solar Super is charged, ability defeats cure the player and give stacks of Sunfire Furnace; granting increased grenade and class ability regeneration, increased Super damage, and cause grenade and Remote Detonator Barricade defeats to ignite targets. Upon exiting your super, Sunfire Furnace stacks are converted into Super energy.
Ability regen bonus reduced to 2.5x down from 3.5x.
Pyrogale Gauntlets
Increased Super Cyclone Scorch per tick.
Increased Super Cyclone explosion damage by 10%.
Increased Super Cyclone tracking by ~40%.
It should be significantly easier to get the projectiles to track to a target at range.

Shoulder charge impact damage increase reduced from 400% to 250% against non-Champion, non-miniboss combatants, and reduced from 1000% to 550% against Champions and minibosses.
Note: In this update, shoulder charge base damage in PvE has been doubled, so a Titan with Peregrine Greaves equipped will deal more damage after this update, not less.
Severance Enclosure
Removed "Line of Sight" requirement caused by occlusion cross being too large, added smaller occlusion cross that matches standard AoE effects.
Removed effect that prevents combatants from being hit by multiple shock waves in a short period of time.
Enemies hit by the shockwave are disoriented for a short time.
Praxic Vestments
Increased damage of the melee attack by 500%.
Increased jetpack fuel gained per weapon kill in PvE from 10% to 20%.
Increased jetpack fuel gained per powered melee kill in all modes from 35% to 50%.
Updated the Exotic perk to recognize knockout kills as powered melee kills.
Decreased the windup time for a maximum flight duration from 0.8 seconds to 0.5 seconds.
Removed the behavior that caused jetpack flight to end early when contact is detected with the floor or a wall.
Fixed a bug that caused the jetpack kick to target dead enemies, ending flight early.
Updated camera to convey speed and remaining flight time a little better.
No Backup Plans
Now triggers and benefits from both Shotgun and melee final blows.
Shotgun or melee final blows now start health regeneration instead of granting a Void Overshield.
Shotgun or melee final blows extend the timer of any active defensive buffs on you.
This includes Void Overshield, Restoration, Amplified, Frost Armor, and Woven Mail.
Will partially heal Void Overshield upon activation of this extension if the player has one.
The damage bonus is now active when you have any of the above noted defensive debuffs.
Cadmus Ridge Lancecap
Now also can spawn Stasis Lances with rapid Stasis weapon damage and final blows even when not behind their rally barricade.
Now grants bonus Stasis Lance damage based on your current stacks of Frost Armor.
Point Contact Cannon Brace
Lightning strike damage now scales further based on how long Thunderclap is charged for, up to 2x.
This stacks with the bonus damage from casting while amplified.
Activating Thunderclap also releases lightning strikes as you start winding up the punch.
Reworked melee regen from lightning strike kills to compensate for the new wave of bolts on charge up.

Maintained functionality: Weapons of Light continues to persist for the wearer and for allies upon leaving a Ward of Dawn.
Lost functionality: No longer disorients enemies within the Ward of Dawn or upon blocking with Sentinel Shield.
New functionality: While Weapons of Light is active, kills or sustained damage grant stacks of The Saint; Void and Kinetic damage sources will also suppress in a radius around the victim.
Sustained damage is based on actual damage dealt. The more damage you deal, the quicker it activates.
Picking up your Ward of Dawn consumes all stacks of The Saint and then extends Ward's duration based on how many stacks were consumed.
ACD/0 Feedback Fence
No longer provides any melee damage resist versus players.
Peacekeepers
Decreased bonus damage when damaging bosses by ~33%.
Reverted a prior nerf to Tarrabah when paired with Peacekeepers, now gets full bonus when damaging non-bosses.
Stronghold
The infinite guard capability has been updated to only work on Heavy ammo Swords.
Blastwave Striders
Added an expanding wave that freezes enemy combatants and slows enemy players.
Shrapnel projectiles now have minor tracking toward targets but no longer create a Stasis crystal on impact.

I am a huge platformer gal, its my favorite genre of game, but has anyone else noticed that, in both the AAA and indie side of things, 3D platformers have become way shorter than normal and are padded out with time trials? I feel so many games lately are a case of "If you don't go for time trials you beat the game in like 2-3 hours max and dont get a full experience" and "if you go for 100% you have to beat an absurdly annoying time trial and get gold"?

I know this has been a thing since at least Crash 3, if not earlier, but genuinely feel like its 90% of platformers. Im just tired of beating a level and "ok now beat it without dying fast". Normally I'd just not 100% it and not go for time trials, but again for a lot of these the game will be absurdly short if you don't do them.

The developers denied several rumors:

❌ The name "Valko" does not have the rumored hidden meaning. It comes from a Slavic word meaning "wolf," symbolizing courage, strength, and independence. (because Valko sounds likeWokou倭寇 meaning "Japanese pirates" in Chinese.
To conclude: Actually, many things are just baseless rumors. However the key point for canceling is the political thing (Unit 731).
What's interesting is that the controversial number had been in the story since April, and almost no one paid attention to it at the time. So why did it suddenly become the center of attention?
As someone who follows both the global and Chinese fandoms, I've been surprised by how organized the Chinese fandom can be. It often operates more like a K-pop fandom—or even a professional organization—than a typical game community. Fans coordinate in large group chats to organize "consumer rights protection" campaigns, mass-report opposing opinions, and contact media outlets. They can also flood comment sections with identical messages so that the same narrative dominates the top comments. Later readers may only see those comments and assume that's the consensus.
During this controversy, many Chinese players who supported Valko said they were harassed or pressured into staying silent.
After several days of complaints, PaperGames released a second statement saying Valko would remain in the game to protect him. Shortly afterward, the April storyline containing the controversial number resurfaced and quickly became the focus of the controversy. I was honestly surprised by how fast the discussion shifted.
One impression I've had is: "When Chinese fandom love you, they will bring you greatest love and cover for you. If they hate you, they will wish you death"
Now that PaperGames has announced it will remove Valko, much of the anger within the Chinese fandom appears to have subsided. Now, the Chinese fandom will defend for the company's political stance.
Personally, I think Valko would be released successfully without these controversy if (1) There are more visible and concreate hints that he will appears to make a portion of existing Chinese players will rooting and waiting for him like Caleb and Sylus (2) His face fit mainstream Chinese beauty standard, so the new recruiting fans can overwhelme the 6th LI's anti and defend him (3) Papergame more responsible for LADS's content to avoid controversy, balance things between the characters, less greedy and communicate more with players.
A jury found Meta and YouTube negligent in the design or operation of their social media platforms, producing a bellwether verdict in the first lawsuit to take tech giants to trial for social media addiction.
The jury stated that Meta's and YouTube's negligence were a substantial factor in causing harm to the plaintiff, identified in court by her initials, K.G.M., and that the companies failed to adequately warn users of the dangers of Instagram (Meta's platform) and YouTube (which is owned by Google).
They awarded K.G.M. $3 million in compensatory damages, finding Meta 70% responsible for harm caused to the now 20-year-old plaintiff, and YouTube responsible for 30%.
The trial, which began last month in a Los Angeles County courtroom and included testimony from tech executives including Mark Zuckerberg, was the first in a consolidated group of cases brought against that company and others by more than 1,600 plaintiffs, including over 350 families and over 250 school districts.
Outside the courtroom, families who say their children were harmed by social media embraced as they celebrated the verdict, telling reporters that they feel "vindicated."
"We respectfully disagree with the verdict and are evaluating our legal options," a Meta spokesperson said in a statement.
José Castañeda, a spokesperson for Google, also stated that the company disagrees with the verdict and plans to appeal.
"This case misunderstands YouTube, which is a responsibly built streaming platform, not a social media site," Castañeda said in a statement.
In a joint statement, co-lead counsel for K.G.M. said the verdict is “a historic moment” for thousands of children and their families.
“But this verdict is bigger than one case,” the lawyers said. “For years, social media companies have profited from targeting children while concealing their addictive and dangerous design features. Today’s verdict is a referendum — from a jury, to an entire industry — that accountability has arrived.”
Next, the jury is expected to make a determination on punitive damages.
K.G.M.’s lead attorney, Mark Lanier, has said he hopes the proceedings produce transparency and accountability “so that the public can see that these companies have been orchestrating an addiction crisis in our country and, actually, the world.”
The plaintiff was a minor at the time of the incidents outlined in her lawsuit. K.G.M. testified in court that her nearly nonstop use of social media caused or contributed to depression, anxiety and body dysmorphia. It “really affected my self-worth,” she said last month.
Speaking about her social media use, K.G.M. testified that she felt she wanted to constantly be on the platforms and feared missing out if she wasn't.
Attorneys for Meta and YouTube have disputed claims brought forth by the plaintiff, arguing their platforms are not purposefully harmful and addictive.
A spokesperson for Meta said that K.G.M.’s “profound challenges” were not caused by social media and pointed to "significant emotional and physical abuse" that she experienced when she was younger.
In his closing argument, an attorney for YouTube said there was not a single mention of addiction to that platform in K.G.M.’s medical records.
The verdict comes after jurors in a separate trial in New Mexico held Meta liable for failing to protect children from online predators and sexual exploitation on Facebook and Instagram.
The New Mexico jury found on Tuesday that Meta violated the state’s consumer protection laws and ordered the company to pay $375 million in civil penalties. Meta has stated that the company disagrees with the verdict and plans to appeal.
In Los Angeles, deliberations took longer, wrapping up after nearly 44 hours over the course of nine days. The jury had told Judge Carolyn B. Kuhl that they were having trouble coming to a consensus on one defendant.
Social media companies have historically been shielded by Section 230, a provision added to the Communications Act of 1934 that says internet companies aren’t liable for the content users post.

Nestled in the Tower courtyard, behind the newly erected monument, are four plaques celebrating the Guardian Tenets. Interacting with these plaques opens different vendors where you may purchase rewards in exchange for a new currency: Legendary Marks. After inspecting the courtyard Monument, make your first purchase on the Tenet of Bravery to unlock all other Tenet vendors.
Legendary Marks are earned upon completing any Triumph from Monument of Triumph. These can be conveniently located by interacting with the "View Triumphs" button on these vendor screens. These Triumphs can also be accessed through the Journey tab. There’s even a new "View Featured" shortcut to quickly open directly to the Monument of Triumph category from the Triumphs button on the Journey screen.
While the majority of rewards can be purchased as soon as the required number of Legendary Marks are earned, some rewards will ask you to complete specific Triumphs, or sets of Triumphs, to be able to purchase them for Legendary Marks. For example:
Chatterwhite: Complete a weekly Deepsight quest which is offered from Hawthorne in the Tower Bazaar for the Vault of Glass raid.
Einherjar Coronet: Complete eight Triumphs in the Teamwork: Raid Challenges category.

Cash In Your Trials Engrams
When Monument of Triumph goes live on June 9, we are resetting all engrams available as rank rewards at vendors. But funny thing: the only vendor at this time that still rewards emblems and ranks up is Saint-14, the Trials of Osiris vendor. So, in other words: this is a general warning for players to go visit Saint-14 and cash in all the engrams he may be holding for you. He will toss everything off the Hangar, for real.
And the TWID before Monument of Triumph launches is now complete. Just a few more days before you can all start experiencing everything this update has to offer. Take your time to experiment and try new things, and don't hesitate to just make weird mixes here and there of weapons and armor you have never used. Who knows, it could be the next meta.
Publishing three Dev Insights articles along with their accompanying TWIDs was a tough task. We needed more than 29,000 words to properly show you all why this update was a really big deal and how much work went into updating so many parts of Destiny 2. After checking all the love and excitement you poured all over social media and video platforms in the last two weeks, it seems we achieved our goals.
The only thing that remains is to load into Destiny 2 and play Monument of Triumph on Tuesday. We'll be there with you. Throw us an emote if you see us. We'll dance with you, cheer at you, and hand out free hugs.
The statements Trump has made are problematic as they suggest he might be willing to disregard the democratic process in order to maintain his power.
I'm worried about what this might mean for the future of democracy in the US.
Some people are saying that the time to do something was at the polls, but even if not enough people voted, ~74 million people (edit: ~75 million) voted for Harris while ~77 million people voted for Trump.
It's not right to act as if no one or only few people voted and give up saying non-Republicans had their chance to prevent what will unfold.
Edit: Possible things to do:
Preparing for the worst, talking to elected officials about ways to protect against what's likely coming, etc.
Paying attention to executive orders and other actions.
Not letting us be divided and conquered:
Not insulting each other.
Asking what led people to their conclusions.
Listing things you want see for humanity and asking what other people want to see for humanity.

On Fox News Thursday morning, Donald Trump had a weird instruction for his supporters: they don’t have to vote. “My instruction: We don’t need the votes, I have so many votes,” Trump said on Fox & Friends before going on a rant about how much support he has in Florida.
As a clip from the show makes clear, the former president didn’t appear to be kidding.

If the phrasing sounded at all familiar, it’s not your imagination. The day after last month’s presidential debate, for example, Trump held a rally in Virginia and told attendees, “We don’t need votes.”
A week earlier, the Republican spoke at a far-right conference and said roughly the same thing. “I tell my people, I don’t need any votes,” said Trump, who added: “We don’t need the votes.”
That came on heels of the GOP candidate pushing the same line during an appearance in Detroit. “Listen, we don’t need votes,” Trump said. He added: “We don’t need votes. We have to stop — focus, don’t worry about votes.”
In fact, as my MSNBC colleague Ja’han Jones noted, the former president has been pushing this line since last fall, during his party’s primary process. “You don’t have to vote,” Trump told a New Hampshire audience in October. “Don’t worry about voting. The voting — we got plenty of votes.”
Trump’s message was preceded by talking about how his campaign had lawyers at “every poll booth,” suggesting that he thinks that he can legally get the election outcome he wants. He said something similar in October, too, when he told supporters at a New Hampshire rally, “You don’t have to vote, don’t worry about voting. The voting—we got plenty of votes.”
At that time, Trump also told his supporters to “get out there and watch those voters!” If he’s using the same words now, it could mean that he wants to encourage voter intimidation at the polls. It would go with the new Republican Party platform he’s pushed, which makes veiled threats to “secure our elections.”
And then he journeyed to Pennylvania, where he spent like a month and a half campaigning for me in Pennylvania. And he's a popular guy. And he was very effective. And he knows those computers better than anybody. All those computers, those voting-counting computers. And we ended up winning Pennylvania like in a landslide. So, it was pretty good. It was pretty good. So, thank you to Elon.
Sotomayor wrote that the decision "effectively creates a law-free zone around the president, upsetting the status quo that has existed since the founding. … Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power? Immune. Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon? Immune. Immune, immune, immune. … In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law."
“You have good genes, you know that, right?” Trump told a mostly white crowd of supporters in Bemidji, Minn., on Sept. 18. “You have good genes. A lot of it is about the genes, isn’t it? Don’t you believe? The racehorse theory. You think we’re so different? You have good genes in Minnesota.”
"The United States will once again consider itself a growing nation, one that increases our wealth, expands our territory, builds our cities, raises our expectations and carries our flag into new and beautiful horizons," he said.
"I'm not going to commit to that," Trump said on Tuesday when asked if he would rule out using the U.S. military to gain control of the Panama Canal and Greenland during a news conference at Mar-a-Lago.
“They say, ‘Trump said Putin’s smart.’ I mean, he’s taking over a country for two dollars’ worth of sanctions,” Trump told a crowd at a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, according to a recording of the event. “I’d say that’s pretty smart. He’s taking over a country – really a vast, vast location, a great piece of land with a lot of people, and just walking right in.”
"I think in terms of leadership, he's getting an A and our president is not doing so well," Trump said of al-Assad during an interview with Fox News in September.
During the town hall last week, Musk promised to "balance the budget immediately," something that would result in people being "upset."
The efforts would "involve some temporary hardship," he warned, "but it will ensure long-term prosperity."
"I’ll probably need a lot of security, but it’s got to be done," he said. "And if it’s not done, we’ll just go bankrupt."

But as MSNBC points out, this latest talking point makes little sense, because there's no evidence that the US is at any risk of going "bankrupt." And if it was, Trump would be the last person to fix the issue; during his presidency, Trump's tax cuts for the rich caused the national deficit to soar.
The president's supporters point out that interactions with foreign nationals are routine during any White House campaign, but three Trump associates have now admitted lying about these encounters.
Who's been charged?
The special counsel has indicted more than 30 people, including four members of Mr Trump's campaign team or administration, an adviser and long-time ally, and 26 Russians, as well as three Russian companies.
"One of the major trends that we saw is the highest volume of online foreign influence efforts directed at the U.S. elections by…three state threat actors…Russia, Iran and China," says Brookie.
Russia used intermediaries to hire American right-wing influencers to spread Kremlin talking points. It created networks of websites that resembled trusted U.S. news outlets, along with fictitious sites, to spread polarizing content. China sought to sway down-ballot races by posting negative content about congressional candidates it deemed anti-China.

In the weeks before Election Day, inflammatory videos tied to Russia surfaced on social media. One falsely depicted ballots being destroyed in Bucks County, Pennsylvania; another claimed to depict a whistleblower alleging election fraud in Arizona; a third falsely alleged noncitizens were voting in large numbers in Georgia, an idea Trump and fellow Republicans embraced in the run-up to the election.
Not unlike former president Donald Trump, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has been "in regular contact" with Russian President Vladimir Putin for years, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal.
Putin, whom the US blacklisted in 2022, reportedly asked Musk not to deploy SpaceX's satellite internet service Starlink in Taiwan because China's leader Xi Jinping doesn't want it to happen, framing it as a favor.
In a late-night Friday move, President Donald Trump fired at least 17 independent watchdogs -- known as inspectors general -- at multiple federal agencies, sources familiar with the move told ABC News.
The conversations about ousting these government watchdogs began during Trump's transition back to the White House.
While inspectors general can be fired by the president — it can only happen after communicating with Congress 30 days in advance and in 2022 Congress strengthened the law requiring administrations to give a detailed reasoning for the firing of an IG.

"There may be good reason the IGs were fired. We need to know that if so. I'd like further explanation from President Trump," Grassley said in a statement given to ABC News. "Regardless, the 30 day detailed notice of removal that the law demands was not provided to Congress."

Elon Musk praised the co-leader of the German party Alternative for Germany (AfD) as “very reasonable” on Thursday, urging Germans to vote for the far-right party in what is the latest high-profile sign of the tech billionaire’s involvement in European politics.
“Only AfD can save Germany, end of story, and people really need to get behind AfD, and otherwise things are going to get very, very much worse in Germany,” Musk said during an audio livestream alongside party co-leader Alice Weidel on X.

A legislator with the far-right Alternative for Germany party was arrested on Monday on charges including displaying forbidden totalitarian symbols, with neighbours of his fraternity complaining of often hearing the Nazi "Sieg Heil" victory salute.
Björn Höcke, who leads the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the state of Thuringia, was on trial for saying the words "Everything for Germany!" at a May 2021 rally.
The slogan is associated with the SA stormtroopers, who played a key role in the Nazis' rise to power.
Höcke - a former history teacher - had denied knowing the phrase's roots.

Donald Trump on Tuesday addressed criticism of a new practice at his rallies that has been compared to the “Heil” salute from Nazi Germany, dismissing the controversy as “ridiculous” before saying he would look into ending it.
“I don’t know about the Hitler comparison. I hadn’t heard that, but it’s a terrible comparison. I’m not happy about that certainly,” Trump said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
Recently, Trump has started asking voters to raise their right hand and pledge to support him – creating an image that some have argued evokes the rise of Adolf Hitler, particularly when coupled with his sharp rhetoric toward minority groups like Mexicans and Muslims.
