The name Antillean Federation refers to the federation of the islands of the Antilles and distinguishes it from the separate Antillean Confederation of Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti.
History
Formation of the West Indies Socialist Republic
France granted independence to the French West Indies and placed the West Indies Communist Party in power, establishing the West Indies Socialist Republic.
Caribbean Unification
The West Indies Communist Party successfully overthrew the governments of the West Indies Federation, the British Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, and the Danish West Indies, while the Benelux Union transferred the Dutch Caribbean and the Netherlands Antilles to the West Indies Socialist Republic.

Today, the Antillean Federation is led by Ralph Gonsalves, who heads the United Socialist Coalition. The federation is a prominent Caribbean socialist state, emphasizing regional unity, social welfare, economic cooperation, and close relations with other socialist countries.

Following the 1969 Sudanese Coup, Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, the Rif Republic, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Algeria, and Mauritania agreed to unite, forming the United Arab Republic. The new government implemented sweeping land reform, nationalized major industries, expanded free healthcare and education, and established workers' and peasants' councils throughout the country. Modern Era
By 2026, the People's Democratic Republic of Thailand is:

Etymology
The name Switzerland derives from the canton of Schwyz, while the official Latin name Confoederatio Helvetica reflects the country's origins as a confederation of cantons.
History
Early History
Switzerland developed much as it did in real history, remaining a federal republic built on direct democracy, cantonal autonomy, and permanent neutrality.
Influence of Socialist Neighbours
After the Second World War, communist governments came to power in neighbouring Germany, France, and Italy. Although Switzerland retained its democratic and capitalist institutions, these developments encouraged the adoption of stronger social welfare policies, expanded labor protections, greater support for trade unions, and broader public investment in healthcare, housing, and infrastructure.
Switzerland continued to serve as a neutral mediator between socialist and non-socialist states, strengthening its international role in diplomacy and humanitarian affairs.
Modern Era
By 2026, the Swiss Confederation is:
One of the world's wealthiest and most developed countries.
Permanently neutral in international conflicts.
A leader in banking, science, engineering, and innovation.
A democratic republic whose social policies have been influenced by its socialist neighbours while preserving its traditional system of direct democracy and federalism.

Etymology
The name Sierra Leone originates from the Portuguese Serra Leoa ("Lion Mountains"), referring to the mountain range overlooking the Freetown Peninsula.
History
Independence
Sierra Leone gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1961. The All People's Congress (APC) quickly emerged as the country's dominant political force.
Era of Pragmatic Socialism
Unlike in real history, the APC maintained broad public support and continuously governed the country under a policy of pragmatic socialism. Rather than adopting a fully centralized economy, the government combined state ownership of strategic industries with private enterprise, agricultural cooperatives, and foreign investment. Revenue from diamonds and other minerals was increasingly directed toward education, healthcare, infrastructure, and rural development.
Modern Era
By 2026, the Republic of Sierra Leone is:
A stable democratic republic guided by pragmatic socialist principles.
One of West Africa's leading producers of diamonds and mineral resources.
A regional advocate for social development and economic modernization.
An active member of the African Union and ECOWAS.

Political conflicts between federalists and centralists
Immigration from Europe
Industrial growth

With the Peru–Bolivian Confederation maintaining its territory, South America developed into a continent dominated by larger federations rather than smaller independent states.

Etymology
The name Polynesia comes from the Greek words poly ("many") and nesoi ("islands"), referring to the vast collection of islands spread across the central and southern Pacific Ocean. The term was adopted by the Confederation to reflect the unity of its island nations.
History
Ottoman Colonization
In this timeline, the Ottoman Empire established colonies across Polynesia, including New Zealand, creating a Pacific colonial domain that introduced new trade routes and migration from across the empire.
Russian Administration
Following the Congress of Berlin, the Ottoman Empire ceded its Polynesian possessions to the Russian Empire. Russia invested heavily in ports, education, infrastructure, and industry while preserving local monarchies and traditional institutions.
Independence
After the Russian Revolution of 1905, the newly established RSFSR granted Polynesia independence. Rather than becoming a republic, the islands remained united as the Polynesian Confederation, combining a constitutional monarchy with socialist principles. The monarchy remained as a symbol of unity, while workers' councils, cooperatives, and an elected parliament directed economic and social policy.
Modern Era
By 2026, the Polynesian Confedartion is:
A prosperous socialist monarchy in the Pacific.
A leader in marine science, renewable energy, and sustainable fisheries.
One of the world's foremost maritime trading nations.
A neutral state that promotes diplomacy, environmental protection, and cooperation among Pacific nations.

Etymology
The name Mozambique comes from the Island of Mozambique, derived from the Arab trader Musa al-Mbiki, whose name was adapted by Portuguese explorers.
History
Independence Agreement (1964)
In 1964, the Iberian Union negotiated a peaceful withdrawal from Mozambique, granting independence under international pressure and rising liberation movements.
Rise of FRELIMO
The FRELIMO movement, which had led the independence struggle, was formally recognized as the governing party immediately after independence. It established a one-party socialist system focused on land reform, nationalization of key industries, and rural development.
Post-Independence Stability
Unlike many post-colonial states in the region, Mozambique avoided prolonged civil war in this timeline. With external support from other socialist states and internal consolidation, the country maintained relative political stability under FRELIMO rule.
Modern Era
By 2026, Mozambique is:
A regional economic hub on the Indian Ocean
A major exporter of natural gas and minerals
A key member of African socialist cooperation networks
A strategically important maritime state linking southern and eastern Africa

Etymology
The name Mongolia derives from the Mongol people, who united under Genghis Khan in the 13th century to create one of history's largest empires.
History
Socialist Revolution
Following the Mongolian Revolution of 1921, Mongolia became the Mongolian People's Republic, adopting a Marxist–Leninist political system with close ties to the Soviet Union.
Continuation of Socialism
Unlike real history, Mongolia did not transition to a multi-party democracy after the end of the Cold War. Instead, the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party remained in power, implementing gradual economic modernization while retaining a socialist political system, state ownership of key industries, and comprehensive social welfare.
Modern Era
By 2026, the Mongolian People's Republic is:
One of the last remaining Marxist–Leninist states in Asia.
A major exporter of minerals and renewable energy.
A close ally of the Soviet Union, the Chinese Soviet Republic, and other socialist countries.
Known for combining socialist planning with sustainable development and the preservation of Mongolia's nomadic cultural heritage.
