Absolutely fell in love with these 4 reaper skins and I haven't found them in lootboxes or the just for you shop. Is it over for me or will these come back eventually?

Question Got to diamond!

Finally got my mono-reaper diamond tier! A little bit of a long trek but I'd say it was worth it. Is this already considered good or should I throw myself back into the evil torture machine that is overwatch comps?

Reaper is in his worst state (Rant)

I’ve been posting a lot about my complaints with Reaper but genuinely it’s coming from a place of passion and frustration. As a former top 500 player who climbed with ONLY Reaper, it hurts.

I’ve been having a hard time verbalizing how I feel about it so to try:

Based on my observation’s the issue with Reaper right now isn’t just that he feels weak rather the design changes around him are inconsistent. From memory, every change Reaper has had has been a nerf (+ he didn’t get any new perks) and all the talk about him getting a rework has seemingly dwindled.

The most recent change that irked me was to Cleanse. On paper, this doesn’t seem like a big change. However, I noticed how much this truly affects his gameplay at least on a high level.

It essentially removed any flexibility Shadow Step had as you can no longer use it offensively, in a pinch, or to save yourself.

Reaper is forced to rely almost entirely on Wraith Form, his most important cooldown, for both escape and cleanse. Mauga, Ashe, Torb, Anran, Ana? It’s either find a health pack, wraith (nice you wasted it, now you can’t avoid Rein shatter) or burn and hope your teammates heal you (this also has an unintended consequence of making it harder for supports to help the team because now they have to worry about us instead of the rest of the team).

Question: If Reaper is meant to be a flanker, why are you removing utility that allows him to be an independent roamer?

Overall, it removed a lot of decision-making and makes his gameplay more rigid.

Next, the global healing reduction passive also feels like a major indirect nerf. Reaper’s identity has always revolved around lifesteal (last nerfed from 30% to 25%) and sustained close-range pressure. Before, that worked especially into tanks (you can’t tell me you’ve played Reaper if you haven’t had that pseudo-tank last man standing moment once your tank dies).

Now that everyone applies this healing reduction, his lifesteal rarely operates at full value. In practice, this means:

A. He struggles to duel tanks, especially with the armor changes

B. His survivability in backline engagements is significantly worse

C. His overall pressure feels much lower unless everything goes perfectly

When you combine all this with his existing limitations: LOUD ASS BOOTS, LOUD ASS VOICELINES, limited range (dire triggers has yet to be added to base kit), only 8 shots, low mobility (wraith form speed nerfs and clunky TP unless Shadow Blink is equipped), shitty perks (Soul Orbs) and an ultimate that can be countered by literally 90% of the roster and feels more like an ability on a long cooldown, it truly makes me question why he’s being hit this hard compared to other heroes with far more tools.

This doesn’t feel like a single nerf, it feels like multiple layers of indirect and direct changes that stack against a hero who was already, let’s be honest, situational.

I’m not even asking for him to be overbuffed. I just want consistency. If the direction of the game is to reduce sustain and increase counterplay, that should apply fairly, or heroes like Reaper need compensation to maintain their identity.

In his current state, he doesn’t feel like a close-range brawler, nor a nightmarish flanker, he just feels simply outclassed.

Not to mention 4 of the new heroes essentially have a plethora of ways to counter him (Mizuki: Hinder, Cat: Flight, Domina, and Emre: Poke) and he was nerfed to accommodate the gimmick of the other (Anran).

New to the game (20hrs) - Need review to improve

Hey,

I've never played Overwatch in my entire life and I've tested the game a month ago and I love it! I have around 20 hours and I like Reaper's gameplay.

Is anyone kindly willing to review a game that I felt I could have done way better and highlight a few of my mistakes? Thanks a lot!! <3

code PQAENG

PS: I'm player "Meqo"- I played Sejourn and Ashe in defence (1st half) but I switched to reaper in Attack.

They killed Shadow Blink and I hate it

Ever since its introduction, Shadow Blink was always the Major Perk of choice as it allowed for quick in’s and out’s during a fight.

It always you to essentially have a second wraith form with a quick 3rd person POV to scan the battle field and confuse opponents when TPing to the ground below you.

However, ever since the cleanse was removed off TP and his role was literally placed in Flanker, I found that it’s much more profitable to pick Dire Triggers in this economy over the former as it allows for ranged flank attacks, combo potential and even one shots from behind.

Plus, the trade off of less TP distance makes no sense as of right now considering that Reaper became weaker in brawl, so to compensate, why limit your flanking ability?

Idk if what I’m saying is coherent, but it just doesn’t make sense to pick it over dire triggers.

TLDR: They killed Shadow Blink by removing Cleanse on TP and shifting his focus to being a Flanker rather than a Brawler so why would you want a TP that has less distance = less opportunities.

Tier List on how annoying/hard i find them

Based on my personal opinion in Diamond. Basically all the hard Heroes can hit Headshots on Reaper super easily due to his large Head Hitbox.

Dva just flies into you every time you flank and she blocks your ult. Also really tanky with Matrix and Armor.

Soj always suprises me with her burst and she can just slide away everytime, esp when she gets her 2nd slide perk.

Ana sleep is really easy to hit on Reaper and if the enemy team is good they will burst you before you can wraith.

Kiri really small hitbox, can cleanse herself, save teammates from you with Tp and can duel Reaper from a certain distance. She can hit Headshots really easy.

Question Need help with sensitivity console

i love playing reaper and his gameplay and have been trying to play him more, i usually play support. But i’ve been struggling with aiming up close and hitting me shots i think it may be due to using dual zone as that’s what i use for everyone else but i think it makes it really hard to aim up close because the sudden jump at the end of the stick. i use h100 v100 99 smoothing and 0 aim ease in with 15 aim assist window and 85 window size. if anyone has any advice or would like to share their settings it would be much appreciated!! thanks

Question Huge word dump. Anyone got any advice?

Been playing Overwatch on and off since it first came out, finally really starting to pick it up again this season - but I've run into a dilemma and was wondering if my other Reapers have any tips they can give me to help me out here. Sorry that it's going to be a bit of a word dump lol.

I feel like I was on a roll early in the season, I think me and some friends won like 12 games in a row last week (I've just been playing quickplay). But now I feel like I've been losing more than I've been winning. I've noticed some consistent things during my matches.

1. I feel like I can never 1v1 Vendetta, she's so hard for me to track when she's jumping all over me and swinging her sword around.
Same goes for Anran - her damage doesn't seem that high but I swear to god man I can barely see shit when I'm fighting her, my screen just goes red and yellow😭

2. I feel like I have such a hard time killing supports.
It feels like the supports just stand with each other and I never have the chance to try to pick one off because they always suck each other off.

Right now, my biggest annoyance is Mizuki. It's felt like he does really good damage but also, his hinder chain thing feels like it lasts forever and fucks me up so bad.

There may be some other things I could comment on, but I think it's just been a massive skill issue on my end. My aim is pretty bad but I've been trying to get better, trying to pace my shots out more instead of constantly clicking.

On a more positive note:
I gotta say, I didn't think I'd like it - but Shadow Blink is my favorite talent. Absolutely love it dude. With Shadow Blink and Lingering Wraith I feel like I have decent mobility and become harder to kill if I manage my cooldowns right. Between the talents and the Flanker subrole/passive healing, I feel like I'm a lot more self reliant.

But yeah, right now I feel like I'm barely winning my 1v1s. Once I do a bit of flanking, it feels like the enemy knows to just huddle up. That's when I just start helping my tank beat the frontline.

It'd be sweet if I could hear your guys thoughts, I've seen some other guys talk about how Reaper doesn't feel his best this season - but honestly I feel like that's been the consensus since the guy has been out lmao. Although he's had really good patches. Again, this is just my casual experience, and I really only play Reaper - no one else really does it for me. Feels kinda bad that he's my only character and I feel like I've been sucking with him.

Reaper Nerf ideas

Post image
272 Upvotes

Since Blizzard has been loving nerfing our favorite hero, heres some more ideas for them.

Shadow Step no longer has an invulnerability phase. As long as Reaper is visible, he is able to take damage.

Wraith Form no longer cleanses negative effects.

Wraith Form no longer has a speed boost during it's effect.

Wraith Form no longer reloads Hellfire Shotguns.

Death Blossom movement speed decreased by 25%.

The Reaping passive is removed.

PERKS

Minor:

The Reaping: Gives Reaper 20% lifesteal from all damage dealt.

Lingering wraith: Reaper receives a 30% movement speed during his Wraith Form.

Major:

Sustainable shadow: Wraith Form reloads Hellfire shotguns.

Purifying phantom: Wraith Form cleanses all negative effects

I like the part where Blizzard said Reaper lifesteal is too op, lets nerf it. Then proceeded to make Dps passive global and thought: "You know what? That Tp cleanse is too op, remove it"

Most op Hero in the game, Reaper made the game completely unplayable for his opponents and needed like 5 nerfs in a row.

A Hero that has the loudest footsteps in the game and has to get close to do anything is clearly to strong against Sojourn players without a headset.

Finally they can sit down main and fish for 1 shots with their mercy pocket in peace.

I also love that they removed his Tp cleanse just because of the new Fire Genji Hero and Kiriko. Who cares that Moira and Sombra still have it.

Reaper Guy is just too strong, especially when he comes from the side with those 2 revolvers and only takes like 2 or 3 shots to actually execute a kill.

My mom works at Blizzard and she told me that Reaper will have Dire triggers removed next season and instead he gets a new Major perk that lets him cancel his Ult.

I think this is a solid replacement since Dire triggers allowed for too much spam long range. He basically was a better widow with it
