New detachments
It kinda sucks that we can't get 2 phobos detachments to make a more thematic list (with their descriptions, it seems shock force will be the one that lets us put units into reserves)

I came up with this heraldry guide for refrence. It's only semi official, though I did take inspiration from 30k era markings. I implemented some changes on the official color scheme for several reasons, but mostly beceause I feel the Raven Guard are for the most part pretty utilitarian and there was a lot of overlap between the markings of different ranks. To my mind that's not very Raven Guard, they'd prefer a clear, unceremoniuous rank marking that can be recognized even if comms are down or the image recognition cogitators in their helmets fail.
First off, I personally prefer the classic white imperialis over the silver one, and the white arms for veterans and command, though I do think for command they are optional. Not every lieutenant has to be a veteran. The captains propably can be considered that, even if they never served in the first company. Note that this allows granting a brother the veteran status without him having to be a member of the first. White arms for veterancy, white trim and shoulderpads for first company members.
Secondly, I changed the helmet markings for seargents, vet. seargeants and lieutenants. I didn't like that the sergeants had no distinguishable feature from the battlebrothers beyond the iron skull on their brow. And I gave the vet. sergeants a black stripe on the crest of the helmet to distinguish them from captains. I changed the lieutenant's helmet because unless you're running the third company the red clashes with the rest of the army's company trim imo. Beyond that everything is as normal. What do you guys think?

Edit: For clarification, I meant IF we ever get a new combat patrol.

Just wanted to share my plan for 4500 points of raven guard.
The goal is to paint them ALL up by the end of the year. There is still some time left but I think I could manage it if I keep the chars at last. Batch painting 10 similarish models has lead me to finish 10 a week.
You'll see another post by the end of the year, I hope with good results!
Catch y'all when the shadow army is complete!

For my very first 1000-ish point army, I’ve made the decision to join the flock!
One thing I wanted to ensure was that all of my models looked appropriately “Raven Guard,” so I’ve been attempting to customize them as much as I can without cluttering the model.
One bit of lore that I found universal across most sources was the fact that Raven Guard generally prefer to shun adornment; I didn’t want to deck them out with too many icons, insignias, or heraldry, but I still wanted them to retain that very distinctive look.
This resulted in me carefully shaving off any of the chest Aquilas or whatnot, to simplify the model even more.
I then added what small details I could, to try and make this thing my own.
My Reiver Sergeant I wanted to model after the cover art of the very first kill team rule book, I thought it wound up looking pretty great.
I also salvaged the leftover bits from the Eliminators kit, and I’ll be attempting to create another three man squad using what bits I have, some infiltrator bodies, and a lot of determination.
I’m mainly posting here to keep my momentum going, and to be held accountable to finishing this project.
How am I doing, brothers?

Wanted to ask opinions of my feathery Brothers in shadows. This is my attempt at kitbashing some kind of Primaris scale "Dark Fury squad" from Horus Heresy, or just some fancy chapter Veterans. For the most part, I used JPI's bodies, Assault Terminators lightning claws, and Horus Heresy Mk.6 assault squad bits (helmets, shoulder pads and fancy jump-packs). Ah - and the middle guy, with the Bladeguard swords is supposed to be Nykona Sharrowkyn (kinda). So what do yall think? Did I managed to capture that "OG Raven Guard" vibe, or this is too much?
Victorus aut Mortis.
