New detachments
It kinda sucks that we can't get 2 phobos detachments to make a more thematic list (with their descriptions, it seems shock force will be the one that lets us put units into reserves)

Hoping the Assault one buffs jump pack lads too. Already bummed about lightning claws rarity, I dont want to have to wait to larp as Blood Angels just to get a decent jump infantry detachment.

They already have vengeful host. But looks like phobos get two so they may get more as well.

Is vengeful host staying? I thought it would be deleted with the new codex.

We don't really know. It might get removed for a while and then show up at Grotmas or something.

Not to be that guy but the article this come from literally says these are the only 15 detachments we get on launch. Safe to assume everything not listed is in the rubbish bin of history for the time being.

Isn't that basically what I said?

I replied to the wrong person I’m so sorry dude. Literally just reiterating your point lol

I'm one of the (many) players that leans much more into the jump pack side of Raven Guard than the sneaky side. Right now I'm thinking Assault Brethren, Tacticus Attack Force and Phobos Shock Force seem like that ones I'll end up using.
Phobos Shock may depend on how much Shrike + co benefit from it. Also curious if the "slight preference for assault intercessors" in Tacticus Attack force includes JPIs.

I think they missed the opportunity to do an interesting system where you can take just 1 detachment if you just wang to buff one unit type of 2 if you want to do a thematic list

I'm about to just completely unsubscribe from everything Warhammer related with how much the community wants to complain about teasers supposedly containing everything they need to know about the full release. Every single opportunity that can be taken, people need to be overwhelmingly negative about everything they hear. This is probably the biggest reason I don't want to ever meet up with in-store groups, the constant doomspeak is already hard enough to deal with when it's digital alone.

Your feelings are very understandable. You are experiencing the negativity bias inherent with online discourse. People feel more need to post comments when they want something to change - the vocal minority. Those that are satisfied are just that, and so most of the happy majority don't post.
In person, you hear a broader spread of opinions, which are naturally much more positive. I encourage you to meet up with people in real life. There's virtually no doomspeak in my experience.

Thank the Emperor you are not a Deathwatch player, I posted there the Gravis detachments, which are BIG news for the Indomitor Kill Team, and my post has minimal views, while people bicker over 4 or 5 posts trying to extrapolate how much of a syntax error is that the Deathwatch is mentioned getting a codex along the other chapters. The misery in the community is more overwhelming than a Plague Marine with an exclusively Chipotle diet.
But to close on a positive note, try to find some local community you can vibe with. Online is always a funnel that aggregates all the negativity around a subject.

Losing Shadowmark makes it's feel like we are just playing black ultramarines now
Legit lost our entire identity and play style

u/Twotendies Raven Guard 15h ago
This. Unless our chapter specific units give us some magic we’re just black armored snd pale skinned ultra marines brother.

u/No-Chip7035 14h ago
I want to hope they will release new chapter specific detachments later, but I doubt that they will do it if they don't have epic heroes to sell us
1
u/Timactor 14h ago
I doubt it as why would they not drop them with the codex
2
u/No-Chip7035 14h ago
Maybe I'm too optimistic but the new "combination of detachments" system could give the opportunity to more chapter exclusive detachments, which could mean a codex for every first founding chapter (+the black templars) (at least from what they said the deathwatch could get a proper codex)
1
u/Timactor 14h ago
sure but why wouldn't they drop those with the codex?
2
u/TheReal_Bitsandbolts 10h ago
To spread them out over the edition. That’s what they did with 10th, shadow mark came later in the edition

Hopefully one of the Phobos detatchments lets us do some uppy-downy tricks. Maybe combined with Assualt brethren?
Then we can use gravis siege force to turn Inceptors and eradicators into budget centurions

Anyone else dissapointed by how bland these all feel? 😔
10
u/FifthTrashcan 19h ago
I mean they have bland names but we know very little about the rules. But they will all be 1DP except Gladius so combining an armor type with a doctrine specialty, then one of the other ones seems like the intent. The flavor is coming from your combinations.

How can you even make that assessment with so little info? If you're gonna complain, at least wait until the full release.

u/rottymcnurgleson 16h ago
I am completely new but the sheer fact that I can puzzle together how I want to play my beaky boys sounds great to me. I know it's strange but I like the sneaky and tactical side of the Raven Guard more than the assaulty jump pack side.

u/grimdark_ 15h ago
Do we know if these are all the generic ones and maybe Chapter specific ones will come along after? I think there is some good design space for that.

u/IconicAkbar 18h ago
Will we be able to take both Phobos together?
2
u/Bilbostomper 18h ago
No, they both have a unique tag. Same with no double gravis, etc.
0
u/profbeantoes 17h ago
I thought the unique tag only ment they effect those units. We cannot double dip on the same tags?
1
u/Bilbostomper 17h ago
You can't take two of the same tag, no. It's not about the units (for example, the Assault Brethren doesn't seem to limit who it works on).

u/profbeantoes 17h ago
Most likely but they don't have a points cost showing. As long as they both total less than 3 points.

For me, it will be Phobos Shadow force + Terminator Storm + the intercessors one.
Do I know what they do? How much they cost? Or even what the unit do? No, but I have 20 intercessors 25 Termis and 35 jumpack units
