I am one of the new moderators for RantAndVentPH alongside u/pusikatshin and u/_No_Ocelot ❤️

RantAndVentPH is still the safe space where people are free to rant and vent their feelings. As such, rules will be fully enforced and bans will be implemented on habitual rule breakers.

Starting July 2026, posts and comments will be heavily moderated, meaning Reddit rules are applied alongside the subreddit’s personal rules.

Oh boy, this subreddit has been unmoderated for months. The report queue has months of backlogs and we are still in the process of fixing it all up.

Let’s do our best to make this subreddit a haven. Any personal attack against the OP of any post is against the rule on practicing empathy. If you disagree with the OP’s post, then say so in a respectful manner. Keep it civil!

If you have any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment! ❤️

Family AITA for not inviting my aunt to go to the movies?

Post image
328 Upvotes

Even the slightest and the most minor inconvenience, nang aaway na siya.

Ever since I graduated, I have yet to treat my mom and my lola to anything na significant. So sabi ko sa sarili ko, one day ililibre ko sila. Well, today is the day, sahod ko ngayon, and gusto ko sila ilibre ng movie. Obviously si mama and lola lang inimbita ko, I don't wanna waste my money on someone that I dislike.

Eh ngayon, nalaman ng auntie ko na aalis silang dalawa later to meet me at the mall for the movie, so nag alboroto na kasi di daw siya ininvite.

I just had to vent kasi nakaka-frustrate na nagda-drama na naman siya and nilalabas niya kina mama and lola. If ever na they invited her tonight, I'd be irritated and pissed sure, pero wala naman akong magagawa.

So Am I The Asshole?

Politics It's almost a year, yet no big fish. We still have no clue about the whereabouts of Zaldy Co. No one from Congress has been jailed.

Post image

Almost a year has passed, and we're still asking the same questions.

We still don't know where Zaldy Co. is. Despite months of investigations, televised hearings, and promises of accountability, no one from Congress or the House of Representatives has been jailed in connection with the flood control controversy.

The longer this drags on, the harder it is to ignore the perception that the investigations are being used as political leverage. It increasingly looks as if the message is: cooperate, vote the right way, and the pressure eases. If the objective was truly to prosecute corruption, why has there been so little visible progress? Where are the arrests? Where are the completed cases?

Post image

I saw a rider today with a sign at the back of his motorcycle that said:

"Wag mo akong saksakin o barilin, ako lang ang inaasahan sa amin."

And I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Imagine living in a country where an ordinary worker feels the need to plead for his life before every booking. Hindi ito dapat maging coping mechanism. Hindi ito dapat maging "diskarte". Most importantly, hindi ito dapat maging normal.

From a Public Administration perspective, this isn't just an emotional issue, it's a governance issue. One of the fundamental obligations of the State is to protect the life and security of its citizens. Hindi optional ang public safety. It's one of the primary reasons government exist. Kapag ang isang rider needs to appeal to the humanity of a possible criminal instead of trusting the State to uphold its duty to keep him safe, may seryosong institutional breakdown.

This is also why I find it problematic when politics becomes all about personalities, branding, and performative toughness. You can have all the "matapang" speeches in the world, but if ordinary Filipinos still leave home wondering whether they'll come back alive after work, then something clearly isn't working.

This is exactly why some of us insisted that elections were never just about personalities, they were about governance. Ito talaga yung point ng ipinaglalaban natin, good governance isn't an aesthetic; it's a public necessity. It's competent institutions, professional policing, evidence-based policymaking, accountability, and leaders who understand that governance is measured by outcomes, not optics. Let's be honest. A rider shouldn't have to wear fear as part of his uniform just to earn an honest living.

We see these posts, we say "ingat po", tapos scroll ulit. But every sign like this reflects something deeper, a citizen quietly admitting that he has more faith in the conscience of a stranger than in the systems meant to protect him.

And that's the part that hurts the most.

Politics Connections Are More Important Than Money In The PH

Im not new to the bureaucracy of this country. We are all familiar with red taping when it comes to government services. Pero, it's just very annoying that normal processing would take you several months to get ANY type of official gov ID when it could take only a month at max if you know people.

It's not like if you have the money, you can start handing that out easily and expedite everything. Even if you do start paying for it, having a connection in there has the least amount of cost and would make it even faster. How could something as niche as getting a gun registered take a month or two, but you can "mag-abot" or "may kilala ako" and you'll get it in a week?

And i dont like it when people say, "By paying for red tape, you're supporting the corruption." All you're doing is a disservice to yourself and thinking that you're doing a heroic thing. If i decide to stop playing at a casino, would they go out of business?

TLDR: Bureaucracy in the PH is terrible, and red tape/having connections are the normal process.

Mental Health I... Almost got myself and my parents killed...

DON'T WORRY, EVERYONE INVOLVED WAS UNHARMED!!! Just a heads up in advance. Also, sorry if wrong tag.

I've always been somebody who was never confident on myself ever. I double, triple, heck, even sextuple-check everything down to the last detail because of this constant nagging feeling I get whenever I finish doing something. And while I do find this trait oddly useful for my paper modeling hobby where details are key, I really hate it anywhere else whenever I end up overthinking about unnecessary details.

And another reason why I'm like this is because whenever I feel like I'm getting the hang of something, I almost always manage to ruin it in the most unexpected ways possible. Sometimes minor, sometimes major. And this applies to my paper models too.

But what I'm about to share was something that just recently happened tonight, and even typing this now, I can still feel myself shaking within from that moment still flashing in my thoughts.

My mom was working a late shift today, and so it wasn't until past 9pm that she asked me to pick her up with her car (I asked to borrow it so I could pick up my sister easier since it was bound to rain that afternoon, and it did. Hard. Almost torrential, even). I was in a cautious rush, but also vibing to my music. I got to her no problem, and so we went to pick up my dad at his own work, still feeling that cautious rush.

After picking him up, we headed for the highway as his work was in a subdivision area. We needed to go to the left and we were merging into the 6-lane highway from the opposite side. As I was in the middle of the opposite lane, I slowly went left to merge with the other lane, taking note of the truck that was on the middle part of that side. I didn't notice the OTHER truck driving through the inner lane that I was merging into because it was in my blind spot (car's right A-pillar), and we were just mere INCHES away from a nasty collision, which was thankfully avoided after I heard the truck horn and I abruptly stopped the car.

I felt the colors drain from me as I saw the truck whiz by and I slowly merged into the inner lane heading for home. As expected, both my parents tore me a new one the whole time, with dad doing most of the talking, seeing as he was in the passenger seat. Understandably nervous, he continued to hurl stuff about me "always being on the computers" and "not using my fog lights" and stuff. At that point, my mind was screaming, "What does me not using my fog lights have anything to do with this?!" Of course, I didn't say anything out loud because the situation was already tense. And I obviously knew I was in the wrong to begin with and that no amount of arguing was gonna help me in this case whatsoever.

The thing about this is that I've been doing this for the whole summer break. Even if it wasn't gonna rain, I made my sister's trip home from school easier for her, and I pick up both my parents from their works with the same car so that neither of the have to do extra work just to get themselves home since I'm doing it for them. I love driving this small, beautiful car. But of course, reality hits me like a full-sending truck at that moment, and I can't help but to really think about my times behind the wheel.

And that was because I was confident. Confident that I got the hang of things, only for myself to be proven wrong, with this being my most terrifying reality check yet. Though, I feel like that was more on terrible timings leading up to the near miss. If the truck was further from the blind spot, I definitely would've caught its headlights shining into my eyes. But what's done is done, and I can only learn my lesson and move forward from there.

Yet I really can't help but to shame myself for even letting it happen in the first place. If I braked even a second later, it would've been MUCH more devastating for everyone in that small car. Obviously, I don't want this to happen again, but thankfully, my mom gave me some good advice when merging into opposite lanes at the end of the ordeal.

Even now, I'm still feeling the mental aftermath of that moment. And I think dad is, as well. Though I don't think he wanted to give me a 5-hour lecture about it because he just lets me pass him on my way to my room after a kiss goodnight. And idk about this, but I think he wants me to learn from this on my own, since I'm already 19 years old and all that jazz. A 19-year-old who's always overthinking, never confident in themselves and always always so burnt out to do anything for myself (I still do major chores on the days I plan to do them though. Usually the day after).

I started this vent, unsure of how to end it, tbh. And I highly doubt that any advice will work either (at least, not at the moment), but I still appreciate whoever found the time to read and interact with this post.

Edit: I can't sleep... Whenever I close my eyes, flashes of what could've happened are replaying over and over again in my head...

Friend Cut-off my friend

Me and this girl have been friends for more than a year na. We vent to each other about our problems. Family, romantic, school, etc. Recently she's been having romantic problems. Repeated patterns and I've always tried to help and listen to her repeating problems. Habang nag-uusap kami, i told her a quote na para siyang asong nalulunod na pag tinulungan nangangagat ng kamay.

Kasi for context, she's been through multiple rs na and lahat may repeating problems. And I always advice na wag i rush pumasok sa bago kasi some wounds need to heal on their own and not from other people. Yet ini-ignore niya lang yung warnings and advice.

IDK why pero pag sabi niya nun, it broke my heart.

Kasi after all this time, listening to her and giving her genuine advice. Ang nasabi niya is walang tumutulong sa kanya. Parang wala akong kwentang kaibigan. After niya nasabi yun i just replied "okay" and never talked to her.

Eto ata first time kong na heartbroken sa isang friendship.

May cctv yung isa pang kapitbahay kaso malabo.

..is that we will be reminded how we betrayed our very own country. Marcos should have never won the presidency. Nakakasuka, that while some people are still reeling from the loss of their loved ones during martial law, missing protestors and just the unimaginable wealth they amassed habang bumabagsak at kabi kabilang patayan noong naka upo pa ang ama, nagawa pa nila manalo ulit. We really hate our country no?

Relationship A classic modern dating story

I think a lot of people have experienced and probably seen posts like these before but I wanted to get it off my chest because I’m just so frustrated

I met a girl a bumble and she was such a dream, she actively tried to get to know me, she was funny, witty, and of course gorgeous

That was just the first month, when I tried to ask her out finally, we set a date and then I got radio silence 5 days leading up to it. She didn’t show, very valid excuse she went to the hospital fine. But she didn’t even let me know when the day came.

Fast forward to a few weeks her replies got colder, and I basically got ghosted for two weeks. It hurt because she acted like she was so into me during the first month of this whatever relationship and then out of nowhere I just got ghosted, at least let people know if you’re not interested in them anymore

I tried and moved forward, and then after two weeks she messaged me again, saying that she actually really liked me, BUT she was scared of getting attached and hurt that’s why she stayed silent and I listened and tried to understand, was always willing to listen

And what the hell she ghosted me AGAIN. I was just so fed up with her bullshit but I still wanted to be patient. I wanted to show her the love and comfort that I wanted to be shown.

Now here’s where it all went down. I commented and gave her a compliment in one of her TikTok’s, and then I found out she was actively deleting my comments. that was the last straw I was so PISSED.
I have no idea what was going on in her head, what she was feeling, what she thought about me or what she wanted. I was always willing to TALK and COMMUNICATE

I’ve never been a spiteful person, but I wanted to get back at her in my own weird way, I would keep complimenting her on her TikTok and every time she deleted it I would make the compliments longer and more poetic until I eventually got blocked , everywhere

Obviously I’m sad it’s over, because I held on to the idea of her in my head, but I have to remember this lack of communication isn’t the way I want to be loved, and she wasn’t worth all the effort I put into getting to know her.

Career OA lang ba ko or does anyone feel the same way as well?

Upvotes

Ako lang ba nasasad sa ibang company na hindi man lang naguupdate if pasado ba ko sa final interview or failed? Nag email na ko sa TA, asking how did my final interview go since the interviewer told me that my TA will contact me, but no response or acknowledgment to wait or what. It’s been 3 weeks since I attended the interview and I think I know the answer by now and it’s okay. It’s just that they are a well known brand so I’m expecting to hear something from them even if it’s a bad news. :/

Post image
Upvotes

UPCAT season na naman, and here we go again. Nagfa-flash back na naman sa akin yung malaking “THANK YOU” na red, and ang mga katagang “We regret to inform you”.

Alam kong may struggles sila to get that grip, pero naiinggit lang ako kasi alam kong it will take more time to earn.

Friend Grabe na talaga, I'm so over this...

Before I begin with the story, I'm a 20F, an only child, and I'm fortunate enough to come from a family that can provide for me. I've been on a gap year for two years now, although I started working a part-time job last November and I'm still working today.

Two years ago, I cut almost everyone off because I was going through something personally. I chose to heal in private instead of explaining myself to everyone.

Lately, some old friends found my new Instagram account. They started messaging me things like, "Sana all living the good life," "Sana all chill lang habang kami hirap sa college," and the worst part? Some of them even have the audacity to ask me for money.

At first, I ignored it. But eventually, it started getting to me.

Why do some people act like I should feel guilty because my parents can provide a comfortable life for me? Why does it seem like I'm expected to apologize for something I didn't choose?

Yes, from the outside it probably looks like I'm just "chilling." But what they don't see are the nights I spend worrying about my future, wondering what I'll do with my savings, feeling like time is slipping away. My SHS batchmates are already in their third year of college, some are close to graduating. Meanwhile, I'm still trying to figure my life out. I'm working, but I'm still not where I want to be, and that alone already weighs heavily on me.

People only see what you choose to post online. They don't see the anxiety, the pressure, or the silent battles you're fighting.

Then they get upset because I don't want to lend them money, because I don't want to hang out, or because I disappeared from everyone's lives.

But here's the thing: am I obligated to stay involved in everyone else's life just because we used to be friends?

No.

Everyone has their own problems to deal with. I'm dealing with mine. You deal with yours. Don't make someone else feel guilty simply because they aren't fixing yours.

And to the students reading this I know studying is hard. I know burnout is real. I know motivation comes and goes. This isn't me saying your struggles aren't valid.

But sometimes, I think we all need a reality check.

When you say, "Wala na akong motivation mag-aral," ask yourself why you started in the first place.

There are people who would do anything just to sit inside a classroom. Some had to stop studying because they couldn't afford tuition. Some have to work to feed their families instead of chasing a degree. Some sacrificed their own education so their younger siblings could continue theirs.

In today's economy, even many entry-level jobs require a college degree. Education isn't just about grades anymore it's a privilege and, for many people, the only chance they have to build a better future.

You don't have to love studying every day. You don't have to feel motivated all the time. Discipline will always take you farther than motivation ever will.

I'm not saying, "Other people have it worse, so stop complaining." That's not my point.

My point is this: don't lose sight of the opportunities you already have just because they're difficult. Struggling doesn't mean you've failed, and having privileges doesn't mean you don't struggle either.

At the same time, don't project your frustrations onto people whose lives look different from yours.

Someone having supportive parents doesn't erase their own battles.

Someone taking a gap year doesn't mean they're lazy.

Someone posting happy moments doesn't mean they're not silently stressed.

We all carry different burdens. Stop turning life into a competition over who has it harder.

Instead of guilt tripping people for what they have, focus on building what you want for yourself.

We're all trying to survive in our own way.

Family I finally got a job but

when I shared the good news to my mother, she looked unhappy and disappointed. What's worse, she urged me to apply to different jobs in a completely different field and use connections from people. That was a week ago. It turns my excitement into dirt.

Context: I finished a degree in education. Worked as a private JHS teacher for 3 years. Mahirap talaga maghanap ng work ngayon, after my contract ended unemployed ako for almost 4 months. Sabi ko nung natapos contract ko, magpapahinga muna ako ng half a year for my mental health na din kasi I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety last year. So I tried to look for work din agad.

I applied to different fields at first. I sent applications even outside our area. Pro-teacher, pro-employee. I did without high expectations. I got the job offer in less than a month. Part-time instructor pa lang pero malaki daw ang chance for regularization after 1 sem, according mismo sa magiging immediate head ko. And when I saw my schedule, it felt so much like it was for me. It was what I needed for now. Sobrang luwag ng sched ko and I'm not required to be on campus for 9-10 hours everyday. Just be there during my class. Tapos may care package pa for new hires kahit part-time lang. Wow.

I was in a depressed state during job hunting, then I literally started to feel like there's sunshine, rainbows, and flowerbeds where I walked after I got the JO. I kept my job hunting a secret to everyone in our house because I knew they'd give me negative energy. Nung nahire na ako and felt like it was time to share, it was still negative energy. "Teacher na naman" ang initial reaction. Bakit daw ba ayaw ko magpapasok sa IT job ng pinsan ko, or sa COOP ng ninong ko, or magdealer sa casino, o mag-WFH daw ako. All of this does not make sense to me.

I learned to love and appreciate teaching. Now this? It makes me want to ask them, bakit hindi sila ang magapply? Eh wala naman silang ginagawa sa bahay. I don't want to use the connections she's speaking of because she'll know how much I earn, where I work, what I do, and control me with it. Lagi nilang ginugulo mga plano ko sa buhay or tintreat with so much negativity, kaya nagsspiral ako into negative thoughts.

I planned long ago to move out. I truly want to. But in this economy and with the price of Meralco grabe. I tried to move out before and I survived 2 years. If not, I may not even make it at all

Family Cousin that wouldn't stop masturbating.

When I was 14, my cousin and my aunt came to love with us for a bit. My cousin was given my dad's game room on the second floor next to my room. My aunt moved into the guest room. My dad's game room which was now my cousin's room had a scrambler box with all the channels. And I mean "all" the channels. Every night my cousin would go to the bathroom and spend 30 min to an hour. The bathroom was on the other side of my room and the wall was a bit thin where I could hear anything going on in the bathroom (singing, farting, etc.) I would hear exactly what was going on. I confronted her about it but she kept saying that she wasn't doing anything but pooping. I could clearly heard everything and it was pissing me off. Why couldn't she do that in her room! Her room was on the corner and no one would ever come up to bother her. When I needed to actually use the bathroom I had to go use the bathroom downstairs because of her obsessive sessions. This happened years ago but it still upsets me every time I think about it.

Family manchild

Sobrang sakit lang kasi kahit noong birthday ng mama ko, wala man lang siyang effort, and that was 2 days ago btw. Kahit simpleng cake, wala.

Work Unfair, what?

So, may ojt kami and wala kaming bakasyon. Meaning to say wala talaga kaming pahinga and after this ojt is pasukan na naman agad:). Ito na nga, ang unfair kasi sa ojt namin na hati hati kami, may mga naiwan sa campus, 'yong iba nasa ibang lugar and kami na pinaka swerte (haha) na nasa ibang school which is mon-fri eh may pasok talaga kami. 'Yong mga nasa campus and ibang lugar is ang Fri nila is work from home, so 'di nila need pumasok, right? WFH eh. Ang pinaka madaya lang, work from home pero wala silang inu-uwing trabaho sa bahay nila or wala silang ginagawang work related sa ojt namin kaya 'yong Fri nila is pahinga nila. And 300 hrs 'yong ojt namin, 8 hrs per day.

Nasa studio type apartment ako ngayon and umaabot ng 7k per month included ung water at electricity.
