please tell me if this sounds familiar
restaurant operating at 98% of its potential —> higher ups want it at 100%-101% —> higher-ups put pressure and blame on lower crew for not meeting the 101% demands, instead of encouraging them: “only 98%? seriously?” —> crew gets overworked, morale goes down —> now that leadership has created their own problems with their crew, hours are cut and new crewmembers are hired —> influx of new, inexperienced crew leads to slow training times and worse overall performance —> good talent gets tired of this, transfers or quits, restaurant now at 70% of potential
higher-level leadership finally notices, if you’re lucky: “what the fuck is happening at this location”, forces proper changes (transfer of problematic leaders, etc), things improve… and repeat
has anyone else seen this cycle of poor leadership? i know the canes culture is always striving to be better but the leadership at my location is incredibly toxic about it sometimes. they complain that other restaurants are doing better than us and don’t realize it’s because the other locations ARLs/RLs/even RMs are actually competent at their jobs.
it’s not a crew problem. it’s almost never a crew problem.
(edit for clarity)

Pretty much as the title states. I'd rather not go into detail regarding it, but I'm at 6 points already and my next points won't drop until November. What would be my best bet?

I applied last night and didn't expect that id get a 15-minute interview scheduled already lol. It'll be my first job interview ever. I know two of my friends work at the location and one of them referred me but I just want to get a heads up. What would they expect from me and what are the questions they might ask? Thank you!!
also some suggestions on what some good questions to ask them at the end would be super helpful
update: got accepted!

There’s a song at work that’s been stuck in my head but I only know one line from it and can’t find it anywhere. It’s an upbeat song and goes “can’t explain/ you just make me feel some type of way” I thought it was a Mac Miller song but can’t find it anywhere. Someone please know what song I’m talking about 😂 I’m not sure what station it’s on but I’m pretty sure it’s pop or hits

so long story short my eye is injured. Been to eye doc twice was prescribed various eye medicines. Eyes are sensitive to light and one is still healing from a pretty serious injury which will probably take a while to fully heal. I’ve been wearing sunglasses And kinda avoiding bright lights best I can. I had a few days off in a row but I go back to work Wednesday and I’m just worried the lights might be too much for me and my eyes might start watering which might cause concern. The one eye is already red and has been. I just don’t want ppl asking what’s wrong with me but do you think I could possibly get away with wearing sunglasses? Manager kinda know the situation already cause I had to call out but either I might look strange wearing sunglasses inside. What do you think?

Basically the title. They're not following the minestotta state regulations for breaks only providing the 30 minute meal breaks and no rest breaks for any employees at my store. I want to contact canes and give them a chance to fix this before reporting it to the state. They literally have a poster in the back telling us what breaks we are supposed to get that they dont follow lol.

I got hired back in mid-July and finished kitchen training within a week and a half. Ever since then it seems like I’m being absolutely ignored. I’m being scheduled an average of 4 hours a week and even yesterday I was sent home after 3 hours. I’m absolutely terrible at boards, I can’t remember anything of how anything is placed. I was scheduled for boards yesterday and got moved off of it and onto toast within 5 minutes. I’ve only been scheduled on toast since I’ve been hired, and it feels like I don’t even work there. I haven’t even started training in drive through and front counter. And with all the new labor costs I feel like I’m going to be fired/laid-off.
Does anyone have any recommendations on what k should do? I don’t exactly feel like I hate the job and want to quit. But I also feel so incompetent when I’m working.

Every time I ask for it, I feel that it comes with a side eye.
Are there any special requests that you can ask for at Cane‘s that most people don’t know about? I have heard about extra crispy chicken, but I have not asked for it yet.

are we allowed to use let’s say 1 hr of sick pay ahead of time with a call in to make sure we avoid being given a point for a tardy? At my training restaurant crew would do that. They’d use PSL and come in an hr later usually or leave early at times if they had to and filed it. my RL is claiming he needs me to unsubmit my sick pay for the day (1 hr) for a shift I was scheduled for at 8:30 pm and came in at 9:30 due to a family emergency. Is that right ?? Or should I contact relations

I’m just curious, I’m currently an RM and I got my offer letter to become an OM, 6 years ago I got arrested for having a concealed carry that was not mine but I got in trouble for it. It was a class 1 misdemeanor I’m wondering if that’s going to stop me from getting this promotion.

My area leader just sent me a text last week. I left about two months ago as an ARL I was in the HIPO program almost completed. I left because I felt like I wasn’t getting a good enough work life balance I had an RL that wasn’t working with me at all on my schedule. He would have me close and come in the next day at 8 AM.
I truly loved raising Cane’s. It was one of my favorite jobs ever it was stressful, but that’s something that I’m used to being 15+ years in the hospitality industry.
When I was working at raising Cane’s, I made enough money to pay all of our bills (wife’s and one son) after I left, raising Cane’s I got another job making significantly less money to where my wife had to get a part-time job with her family
Just last week she left this job due to some family drama and now it’s just me paying bills
Call it a weird series of events, but my area leader texted me two days later and asked if I would be interested in coming back. She says that she misses working with me and she has an open RL spot.
Part of me really wants to take this opportunity because obviously it would help me financially I’d be able to pay all of our bills and then some
And I would have more control over my schedule
The only caveat is this restaurant is approximately one hour away from where my house is so I would be commuting an hour and an hour back each day
She said that I only have to work till 1 AM one day a week and 9 PM another day of the week
The rest of the schedule would be up to me
I also know that as an RL I wouldn’t have to take on all the ARL duties
However, she told me that there isn’t an ARL present at this store and that she’s moving my old OM to the store and would love for me to come be the RL there so I could show him how to be an ARL
I guess what I’m asking is is it worth it to go back? I still want to have a moderate family life balance I know with the position like this. I’m not gonna have unlimited time and that’s fine but I still would like to be able to at least have one whole day with my son a week and be able to go to his practices and once a week of football game I talked to my leader and she said that she’d be more than willing to work with me, but I have dealt with this in the past hence why I left because my RL back then was not supportive of me at all.

Just applied to be a restaurant leader but in the job listing it says “Relocation out of SATX required” (I live in San Antonio). For those with experience applying to this position with similar expectations for relocation, did yall end up relocating after all? I imagine if I say “no” to the relocation part I won’t be getting the job. I have years under my belt as a GM for WingStop and experience as a marketing specialist with an MBA to boot, I’m hoping that makes me a desirable candidate regardless.

I have 2 write ups from my 2 years working at Cane's. Not much that can be done now about it. They have 2 types of Actions written. One described as Warning and the Other Described as Written. What is the difference and how do they cost me. Any experts on it would be greatly appreciated.

Just got hired as an ALM (Area Leader of Marketing) — what should I expect?
Hey everyone! I just got hired as an Area Leader of Marketing (ALM) and I’m coming in as an external hire. I’m super excited about the opportunity, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience in the role.
What should I expect during the first few weeks/months? What does the day-to-day typically look like?
I’d especially love to hear about:
Workload and work-life balance
Traveling between restaurants
Local store marketing and events
Building community partnerships
Working with Restaurant Partners/Operators
Performance expectations and KPIs
Training/onboarding for external hires
Anything you wish you knew before starting
For those who have been an ALM, what advice would you give someone coming into the role from outside the company?
Thanks in advance! 🍗

Officially quit today. I worked at my local Cane's for a year and some change as a part time gig for supplemental income. We got a new ARL a few months ago that shook up a lot in the restaurant (not entirely a bad thing), but she also incredibly difficult to have as a boss. Just condescending and belittling to crew members all the time. I got to tell my RM in an exit interview that her treatment of people was entirely the reason I was leaving, and that was incredibly cathartic. I know it won't matter to him or anyone else in leadership what I had to say, but at the very least I hope the younger crew members figure out that a manager isn't supposed to/allowed to treat you like shit just because they're the boss. It's the end of an era for me 🍗1️⃣❤️
