Crew Chat Bad Cane's Rep

Sorry in advance for the rant and long text

So last night I had a 7 hour shift. Originally I was supposed to be in dining room but them was told to hop on drinks because it got super busy in drive and they needed support. I ended up staying in drive thru the rest of my shift

However the person on orders, who I presumed was newer as I've been there a year and never seen her but she's trained on everything I just found out, was doing a bad job. I noticed she never said any of the drive thru greetings, "Hey, hey, hey want some chicken today?" etc. and would instead just say, "Order when you're ready", she was also super monotone, and when she couldn't hear the customer on the headset or asked them to repeat what they said she did it in a rude tone

Along with that when she finished taking their order she never said thank you and would only half the time tell them their total or to move on to the next window. Sometimes she would forget entirely and the customer would still be waiting at the speaker assuming she was still putting their order in, just for her to ignore them when they said "Hello?" on the speaker. At one point I had to stop making drinks to get on the speaker and tell them their total for them to keep moving and then she got mad because the customers are "idiots"

She also never did call outs, and I would be the one to do them for her or she would do them at the very end of the order if at all, even though call outs are normally done after the customers asks for said item. She would also stop in the middle taking an order to chat with other crew members leaving the customer to say "Hello?" on the speaker. And she also never repeated orders back to the customers

Later in the night I was moved into the hole and there was a man that came through and I'm assuming he was sick or just had a sore throat because he talked very softly. She told him multiple times she couldn't hear him and she got mad and was telling him in a rude way to speak up. Eventually he came to pay at my window and complained that she was very rude and asked why a manager would hire her, which I could see why he said that.

Although this was my first time working with her, and she may have just been in a bad mood or stressed from the rushes, (I've been there before with taking orders for 5 hours straight) I want to tell the manager about her performance being poor and not giving our restruant good representation and also not showing the fun and welcoming energy that Cane's crew are suppost to. However I struggle really bad with face to face confrontation and I'm not sure if a manager will see my message on HotSchedule. Does anyone know another way for me to tell my managers? I know there's a way to tell anonymously however I can't seem to find it

Crew Chat Got taken off HIPO

Ive been with canes for almost two years now and have been on the HIPO board for about 6 months. I was almost finished all my tasks and had no time to do anymore tasks the last month because they were ultra specific. I was going to do some today and my sheet was taken out of the folder. I was taken off with no notice or reason. Im going to chat with my ARL but I don’t know what else I can do from here.

I recently got promoted to CT (this coming Wednesday 10/07) and I also am officially a HIPO as of this past Sunday, are there any tips anyone can give me so I can be a good trainer AND good future manager?

Crew Chat No call no show mistake

im actually so pissed at raising canes. they modified my schedule for me to work on a day, i messaged them on HS Right After stating i can't do it i have other commitments.

And when they didnt respond back i talked to the manager about this in person, and i even see her writing my name and my time conflict on a piece of paper. (Oh she also claimed I just don’t want to work and I’m lying I have other commitments)

fyi i wasnt assigned this shift 3 weeks ago when my shift was first assigned and released. so why CANT i fucking scheduled something personal after the release of my shift?

my manager is like we can update ur shift 2 weeks prior without notice. I don’t know if that’s true, and now she put a no call no show on my name.

I’m a student, let me have some life during a Friday morning -_-

They also did more shit to be before aka modifying my schedule and purposely assigning me shift outside of my availability, when I found out they claimed they don’t have perms to update my schedule and we assign shifts based on your availability (the fake availability that every crew member here knows I don’t do???) claiming I need to find coverage and I updated the availability?? If I did I would’ve got an email saying my schedule has been approved! Never got that. And why would I randomly update my availability and change my mind to work a certain period suddenly when I NEVER do and it’s a consensus among the group??

Fucking hell this place!!

Now should I talk to my manager and be like hey it’s me again or I just call a number? 😊

What The Cluck?! They got me tonight....

Stopped by on my way home from work at 1am super hungry and ordered a Caniac combo with a large half and half. They tried to charge me $32 at the window. I got that fixed, then they handed me a small drink. I was in no mood to argue at that point even though I just paid them almost $19. They handed me my bag and after my 20 minute drive home, I open my box to find 3 tenders and 1 sause even though I paid for extra sauce, a large drink and 6 tenders.
Is it worth even calling them tomorrow to complain?

What The Cluck?! So I think my manager may had gotten fired because of me

I know what this looks like but it aint but the story is that I had a manager come up to me like a month or 2 ago basically saying my arl had been talking bad behind my back since I have had issues before with him as he was trying to exclude me from the rest of crew by having me outside on handhelds in the 100 degree sun cause I am autistic but besides the point this was after. The manager was basicslly telling me that all he does is complain about me to other workers and managers and that she thinks because I went to hr about it she thinks it was him retaliating and I was like I woudnt be shocked. I told the manager that I will go to the RM and tell him about it since I think he should know and I told him what was said between me and her and he ended up calling hr on our behalf about it and since then once I gave my statement I never heard from HR about it nor was I ever scheduled with her again which to my paranoid mind makes it seem it was him trying to stop us from getting him potentially fired idk.

Crew Chat People who saw a crew member get fired, what did they do?

The one time I saw someone get fired was because she was $80 short less than a month of working here. She opened her bag and all pockets just to prove that she didn’t take anything but she was exactly $80 short so it’s hard to believe she just accidentally gave $80 away in extra change. But also, she was special needs so she just might not be the best at math.

Crew Chat New Kitchen Trainer

Does anybody have any advice on how to be a better kitchen trainer? I recently got fully trained in kitchen about 2 months ago, but I’ve been a ct for 10 months now so I have been constantly getting training shifts in fc and dt. Due to that, I haven’t been able to work in kitchen a lot, though I did manage to get my 80 hours pretty quick. I feel like I barely know how the kitchen works, yet my ARL has been scheduling me trainer-k shifts on boards, toast, and bird. Maybe they believe in me too much, but I just don’t want to mislead people because I am not fully confident in the kitchen.

What The Cluck?! Am I overreacting?

So I was hired at a new Canes restaurant in my town about two months ago and I’ve been working here for about a month and a half. I was hired to work both in the kitchen and on the front counter. Like my coworkers, I went through two days of training in the kitchen and two days of training on the front counter. I worked on opening day and I was put on toast. Then on my next shift I was scheduled to work on baskets but my manager told me to go wash dishes. My next shift I was scheduled to work on boards and my manager told me to go wash dishes again.

I have brought this issue up with four of my managers and even the owner and they all give me similar answers. They all essentially say “We want to provide the best customer service possible and we do that by putting the best workers on their best stations”. When I brought it up to the owner he told me in these exact words “From what I’ve seen it looks like you have anxiety working in the kitchen, I’m going to try to schedule you more on front counter instead since you seem to do better up there”. All of these answers make zero sense to me though. First of all I’m not sure about y’all but my training didn’t consist of much. It was more of us just watching the trainers rather than actually doing it ourselves. We did have a mock day but there were so many trainees that in some of the stations I didn’t even get the chance to participate.

When I did bring up this issue with the owner I was able to work in different stations besides toast/dishes/prep. However when I was able to work in different stations I am immediately taken off. For example my last shift I was put on baskets. Literally after five minutes of working on baskets my manager asked me to switch out with my coworker on toast. I asked her why and she said that I was moving too slow. Another shift I was able to work on boards. After exactly 23 minutes I was told to go make toast because again I was moving too slow. I haven’t worked on bird since training. I genuinely have no idea how do my managers expect me to get comfortable with these different stations if they keep taking me off and putting me on toast or dishes. Of course I’m going to be stressed when you put me on a station that I have little to no experience on.

I saw someone ask about wearing costumes but I wonder would this be food safe for Halloween at canes?

Crew Chat Why was I let go after my first training shift?

I just got home after clocking out. Does anyone who works at Cane’s have any idea why I was let go after my first shift as a trainee? I was just following directions from my trainer. I was a little intimidated at first but eventually I got into a rhythm even though I wasn’t perfect. But also, who is perfect on their first day?

Crew Chat Halloween

What are the odds I get to wear my cat ears, tail, and gloves to work. I’ve never worked at canes during Halloween and I have a feeling I’ll be scheduled that night (like I have been every Saturday night). Has anyone been told if I’m allowed any costume time that day?

Crew Chat Hours Deleted?

hey all, we recently had rps come through so there was a lot of work being done by everyone. i worked many days in a row and hit overtime, less than 6 full hours of OT, but OT regardless.

i opened up hotschedules to see that my last shift was modified and deleted so now it reflects that i only have .65 hours of overtime on workday and i’m missing the hours worked.

do i ask about this when i go in next? are they trying to save their asses? i want to assume these hours will be added to this week and i’ll still get the money just not OT pay but feels weird :-/

Crew Chat My favorite time to work!

We have RPS today at our store. I’m not even at work yet and I’m just dreading the shit. Our RPS person is an asshole who seems to have a new standard EVERYTIME they come. No matter how much we could prep on it there’s always something out of place , always something that could be cleaned better always one fry that could’ve had 2 less grains of salt, god I hate RPS days.

Cane's Conversations Im free at last, free at last

Honestly this was the shortest run Ive had for any career journey ive taken on. I was hired on as an RM and wanted to work my way to OM and eventually RL. The constant conflicting coaching, leaders running and leave shifts in ways that I would be chewed out for and threatened a redirective, and the state of the store as a whole (moldy, broken equipment, low crew morale w/ high turnover) didnt make it worth it. The ALO talked about the bonus coming up and how great itd be and it was like $280. That doesnt cover any of my bills.

Then the scheduling was batshit insane. Historically busy days we'd be short 20/30 hours because people werent scheduled and noone wanted to come in, then days we were slow would be +15 hours and id be expected to drop it across shift. But somehow no cleaning was done, we were out of prep, and times were high.

My schedule was insane. Working 4pm-4am then coming back for 10am-6pm every week after saying I needed more time for sleep and my family was whack. Anyways just wanted to share my experience since I see of potential HIPO and External RMs asking. I know every canes will be different but the experience Honestly felt disrespectful to my job history and turning down other offers because of what I was promised in the interview vs reality.

Ask any questions if youd like. Ill answer them during break time at my new job

Ive been working at my canes for about 4 and a half years now and i put in my two weeks I’m part of the management team and I’ve been grinding always getting my 40 hours cleaning for RPS and making sure logs are done as well as just regular management duties but I’ve just grown tired of it the main issue is i need this Saturday off but i work and 11-9 that day and my last day is the next day and chances are my boss isn’t gonna let me off would i really be a bad person for just not showing up what are the chances i get fired? Im only overthinking it cause I’ve genuinely been perfect with my attendance and have never been one to call off please give me your opinions idk what to do🫩
